Not only does SWA not charge for flight changes, if you change your orignal flight to one that is cheaper, they actually give you that $$ back. Not cash, but credit towards your next flight.

Used one on my last deployment (the toughbook that is)---a little bulky, but you get used to it. (True on many fronts) Very easy to overlay ACO airpace/AR tracks/ROZs/kill boxes, etc. Only sucks when it goes past 0000Z. You lose the GPS sig until you log back in.

I remember hearing the CVR w/animation of the C-21 crash up @ Ellsworth. The converstion in the cockpit sounded like any given local that you'd be on until the mishap. Definitely had its shock value, and definitely made a lasting impression.

I know its important to protect those involved & the families, however I don't know why it has to be such a secret to AF pilots. Aren't we supposed to learn from past incidents? Even if that means viewing the animation/audio/PACAF presentation. I just don't get it when someone looks bewildered or asks "Why do you want to see this?". Because I am an AF pilot & want to make sure accidents don't get repeated!

Nice rant. I like how the AF paid extra to have the standard leather seats ripped out of C-21s for cloth seats so as to prevent the perception that they are spending tax dollars on lush aircraft interiors. Makes perfect sense.

Yes, it is possible to get a GV assignment after one MWS tour...not too likely though. I don't imagine its technically a requirement to be an IP, however I'm sure your chances get slimmer if you're not.
