  1. No. We don't wear a flight suit or boots either. The best part about being a technician is growing my hair and beard out. Not saluting is good too.
  2. What do you call a black pilot? A pilot, you racist
  3. Terrible news. My thoughts go out to the families. This article is a great example of what I absolutely hate about the media. The very last paragraph and the parting shot is about another P-51 crash from a couple years ago. You all better be constantly looking to the sky. Apparently, it is raining P-51s. These ass clowns in the media take every single chance they get to put a negative spin on everything they report on. I guess that is what sells.
  4. Connecticut is standing up soon too. We have a couple crews taking their first two airplanes to them next week.
  5. The gov furloughed me. I am not stepping foot on that base on my furlough day. Fuck em. Unless its to get beer.
  6. Gotta give props to the AFE guys. Everytime I hear of guys getting out safe, I stop and thank the guys in our squadron. They don't get enough credit.
  7. Sorry, you've got to share an article with proof. An article with "may" in the title isn't going to cut it.
  8. So you know for a fact that being homosexual isn't a choice? I haven't seen that "mythology" proven yet. Did you miss the recruit story above?
  9. I find it really funny that you think people with differing opinions are bigoted and ignorant. Before I joined the military, I had a guy that worked for me at an airport. He was as flaming gay as you can get. He harassed me and the other dudes at work constantly. Eventually, I had enough and went to my boss. My boss brought in another manager who was gay to shed some light on what was going on with this dude. He said to me, you went to college right? I told him that I had. He said how many nights a week did you go out looking for women? I said all the time. He wanted to know how many times that worked out for me. I was honest and told him not as much as I would have liked. He explained that gay dudes are still dudes so they don't say no like most women do. He said it is normal and common for dudes to go out to these the gay clubs and get busy with multiple dudes in these clubs every night. He explained that this dude doesn't understand that his coworkers weren't interested or that he was even harassing other people. It was normal for him. Another story, I have a family member that runs a fairly large organization. This is a public service organization that employs a large number of gays. He talks all the time about how the lesbians in the company "recruit" and prey on recently single women. He sees it every day. That is where I have a problem. Our society has been led to believe that the homosexual lifestyle is just about peoples feelings and equality. We have been fed this "ideal" stereotype of gays by the media and Hollywood. Gays are portrayed on TV as healthy, educated committed people who are just like you and me while heterosexuals are portrayed as dysfunctional. We have mommy swap shows and shows like Mistresses on ABC. There are plenty of studies that show the rates of domestic abuse, substance abuse, number of partners, lengths of relationships and health issues are much worse for gays than straight people. The lifestyle has serious consequences. Not to mention anatomy, biology, religion or evolution don't jive with the gay lifestyle.

  11. 463L is the system the AF uses to move cargo. 463 comes from April 1963 when it was designed. It not only includes standard size pallets (108x88), but also includes the dual rail systems in all the cargo aircraft and the material handling equipment like K-loaders. It doesn't appear that the civilian 747s are designed with this in mind.
  12. They took off 500lbs of life support and loading equipment on the Herc to save weight. Why not fly with 500lbs less in gas? You don't need 38K to fly a 4.0. 37.5 would do just fine and I could have all my other crap back.
  13. On the Herc, you need at least 3.0 Gs forward, 2.0 vertical, 1.5 for aft and 1.5 lateral. So if you have a 28K MRAP you would need 84K lbs of forward restraint, 56K vertical and 42K for aft and lateral. We use 10K tiedown fittings, chains and devices but because of the angle you usually get around 7500lbs per chain/device. It is possible to use straps but like someone said earlier, they are subject to tearing especially when under that much tension and when run over a sharp edge. What is also interesting to note in those Atlas pictures is some of the straps are not attached using a ratchet. They look like they are just tied into the ring on the floor. It is not easy to tie a knot and keep tension on it when restraining cargo.
  14. First crew goes to the 62 on April 15. One crew per month after that. Latest word anyway...
  15. This administration is clearly willing to reduce benefits... In "broad terms" isnt that why we are in the financial situation we are in?
  16. Sorry, I was asking you for your opinion. The White House isnt the one posting 82000 replies on these threads. FWIW, your answer is exactly what I expected.
  17. I would like to know what you think the Democratic party's plan is for the future of this country. In other words, if your party had complete control, where would we be in 20 years? Speak to the welfare state/entitlement programs, debts and deficits, size and capability of the military, immigration, gun control and education. I'd like to hear your views and see if they line up with what we have seen over the last 4 1/2 years or so.
  18. May be a really stupid question, but how does your standard Garmin act at 70+000 feet? Does it say "turn left in 150.2 miles in 6.9 seconds" or what?
