  1. Really? I was thinking more F-14 & F-15.
  2. If PA produced videos with 1/3 of the quality of this instead of interviewing Col. X or Chief X for some article that nobody will read about resiliency/SAPR/Uniforms/Suicides/Masters/PME/Volunteering/"the mission" (that's not actually the mission) etc. nobody would ever give PA a hard time. But no they'll continue to cover the latest road clean up/bake sale project or write more stupid articles about shit nobody cares about while ignoring the actual things that go on around base to kill bad guys and break their stuff.
  3. Thankfully Darth Vader wasn't a fan, jury is still out whether it was the uniform or the general wearing it. I hear he wasn't a very popular guy.
  4. That statement should have an * affixed to it "not applicable when MAJCOM/CC is a D-bag".
  5. Some people need to be high fived in the face with a chair for idiocy like that.
  6. Just bought a pair of Nikes, so far they are great, still breaking them in since they are cowhide leather instead of sued (due to changes in Army requirements).
  7. Agreed and I'm not advocating for a 4-5 month course (especially being an AMC guy). My point is though other services take their early officer PME seriously or at least devote time to it more than a 2 week course jammed into a 5 week course. My ideal look at PME would be 2-3 weeks of generic officer PME with all officers together and then another 2-3 weeks where people separate into their specific career areas (rated, MX, services, etc) and focus on of job specific PME and development.
  8. "What, are we going to make QOL so much better for the Enlisted drone corps that they wouldn't dream of getting out? Fat chance, $hit still rolls downhill." You think being the new LT in the squadron getting stuck with SNACKO duties and Friday night training lines sucks? Imagine being the new A1C/SrA/SSgt operator in the squadron.

Heads up for those that concealed carry my home state of Virginia has unfortunately fallen victim to the anti-gun idiots that were elected last time around. The AG has revoked reciprocity with 25 states because their requirements to obtain a CCW weren't strict enough (among other things). Which is utter bullshit because all VA requires to obtain a CCW is an online class and a background check. -http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/12/22/virginia-to-end-recognizing-concealed-carry-gun-permits-from-25-states.html

+3 on the Crossbreed, been using mine for 3+ years, high quality and once broke in, it fits like a glove. Best part is a solid company to back their warranty and lifetime guarantee, not one of those "here today, out of business or name change next week" companies.
  11. Souda Bay deployments/stages....where do I sign up?
  12. I think the failure starts with SOS. Largely regarded by most as a joke or a nice break to practice your golf swing and drink. With the push to go to all these joint/sister-service schools we never give future leaders any solid Air Force centric PME before shuttling them between Joint PMEs/Staffs, civilian internships etc. The Army has career courses that they send thier captians (usually 4-5 months) and the PMEs are branch specific not some mile wide-inch deep overview of the AF.
  13. I always thought joking about sending Navs back to their prior airframes as copilots was funny but sending an 18X guy back (unless he fits that bill) is a no-go.
  14. Oh good where exactly where are we going to get the 3500+ personnel? We just spent the last two years kicking out people, specifically pilots. I'm sure we'll just continue to pillage other MWS's which are already short staffed.
  15. Rand Study: 85% of Special Ops members opposed women in special ops unit
  16. "According to those facts, the warnings couldn’t possibly have been issued in the time the jets were in Turkish territory. Unless Turkish air controllers can speak impossibly fast, issuing ten warnings in seven seconds seems kinda improbable. Physics 2, Turkey 0. " The warnings were going on for several minutes prior to them crossing the border. Credibility killed X 2
  17. http://www.airforcemag.com/DRArchive/Pages/2015/November 2015/November 09 2015/First-AC-130J-Prototype-Declared-Loss.aspx "The AC-130J "tumbled inverted" before test pilots were able to recover controlled flight, entering a vertical dive, on April 21. The aircraft lost 5,000 feet altitude, pulled 3.19 Gs, and oversped the flaps' maximum allowed airspeed by 100 knots before returning to level flight." to the Test Pilots.
  18. You've been lucky my friend, I've seen only a couple people make it out of here in the usual time frame.
  19. The C-17s are running about a month behind on every course right now (and most courses, outside of PIQ, are only 1-2 months). The C-17s lost a third of the FTU cadre to the VSP alone and every time I've come back, guys who were wearing 58th patches last time are now sporting reserve ones. This doesn't include a bunch that are actively trying to make the switch or just get out in general. The airdrop side of the house got hit pretty hard as well.
  20. KEND did flights like that for the T-38 guys waiting on IFF. If there was an open seat on a formation they could go fly on it. Never heard of anything similar on the T-1 when I was there. I would say that's stupid but then again AFPC seems to take that as a challenge and compliment.
  21. Well we already lost an ambassador in Libya due to the failed involvement (albeit limited) in the Arab Spring and the current administration managed to get re-elected. I honestly don't think the majority of the population cares, as made obvious by the general unawareness of the global on-goings by the people I talk to on a daily basis.
  22. "At the hearing, Dunford and Defense Secretary Ash Carter both struggled to describe the next steps in the U.S. military’s fight against the Islamic State group in Syria." In other words: we really have no idea what the fuck we are doing and so we'll just keep tossing JDAMs at Hiluxs until someone forces us to actually come up with a plan. http://www.defenseone.com/politics/2015/10/dunford-us-will-rethink-its-iraq-presence-if-russia-goes/123157/?oref=DefenseOneFB&
  23. Well bombers can still reasonably make it to a target when GPS gets jammed, can't say the same for cruise missiles.
  24. As others have pointed out the flying isn't bad and the locations are pretty good (I'd take OKC in a heartbeat). However, the toxic leadership was a common and noticeable theme among all the AWACs guys I talked to at UPT, which turned me off from even considering them. It's on thing to say a base or squadron has a toxic leader for their 2 year command tour but when several guys spanning a large swath of years all say the same thing including guys that just PCS'd to UPT bases, it doesn't interest people in going there.
