Blended Retirement System Puzzle
Short time Guys that you recommend BRS to may not have a choice anymore anyways. So so it basically boils down to: “if you have a choice, choose traditional”

Blended Retirement System Puzzle
Prime has a premium ... about $600/yr for the family. But There’s no out of pocket really. But you still have to do referrals, mtf, etc. Min total cost $600 .... max total cost is $600 standard has no premium. Go anywhere, see anyone, no referrals, no permission. Pay 20% with a cap of $3k per year for the whole family. Min total is $0. Max total is $3k. No hassles. Delta gold is similar (20% ish co-pay). Costs over $650 a MONTH and the max out of pocket is $13k I think. Seems to jive with other industries in the outside world. I wouldnt expect healthcare costs to get any better either. DON’T DISMISS the health care costs associated with your retirement / 2nd job. Especially if you or your family (or potential family if may have kids someday) has any significant issues.

Blended Retirement System Puzzle
Don’t forget to factor medical into your equation. Tricare standard costs me nothing, and is a significantly better plan than the delta airlines gold option, which costs nearly $10k a year just in premiums.

Remember, BRS wasn’t created to benefit you. It was created to save money. If you have any inklings of going to 20 AD ( or equivalent in the guard or reserve) it’s an easy decision.

Airline hiring prep, gouge, advice
Start early! It can and probably should take about 6 months to get your app up to the 99% solution...independent of the time it takes to study, prep, etc. dont beleive me? -what’s the mailing address where you went to AFEO (Life support Officer) school? -what were the exact date you were at SoS? B-course? Etc -what was the phone number to the ops desk at a squadron that’s now at Holloman? Closed? -what’s the disposition of that speeding ticket you got around 2008? What was the date? Where? If you just mail in a payment have you been found guilty? Is that different in Virginia vs Nevada? -who was your supervisor at your college job? -do you have sealed high school and college transcripts? -what’s on your faa record? all of the information is out there...it just takes time and leg work to get. The 99% application takes OCD level attention to detail

Airline hiring prep, gouge, advice
I’ll pile on that the ECIC phone top off is not where they give you “canned answers.” (They really never do that). Its basically last minute practice. They ask you interview style questions and you get to practice applying your 6-9 well thought out stories that you intend to apply or bend to fit. Its a one on one chance to calm any jitters, practice speaking out loud, and build your confidence. The phone top offs are worth your time.

Airline hiring prep, gouge, advice
Retired in June. Working for Delta. Also got hired by Southwest and United (so I’ve seen their process). Invited to interview with Fedex and American (tired of interviewing at that point). (Bragging) its a sellers market out there. Happy to help
