  1. And it was an “officer”, likely the LRS/CC that condoned this. Shoes get away with this crap because fellow officers don’t have a backbone to put the mission first and not engage in dog and pony shows…much like all the deployed Wing Kings that let their Chiefs and Diamonds run wild.

  3. Reminds me of way back when I was an Airmen Crew Chief during an ORI. We had an old school (flew in Vietnam) WG/CC who must have wanted to "make a good first impression." They had all our jets lined up on the ramp and each DCC/ACC stood at ease in front of their respective jets. The WG/CC picked up the IG/CC from his C-40 transport on the taxiway, then on their way to the in-brief, they made a pass down the line of jets. As the car approached each of us came to attention and saluted (on the flight line no less) the car as it passed. What a fucking ridiculous waste of time and pepper grinding to the max. Does anyone think this shit really matters? My guess is the IG was cringing on the inside.

  4. The ORI you remember is ancient now days. They have revolutionized light years beyond ORI's by executing Agile Combat Employment exercises in which bases/units generate personnel and equipment, fly to a forward location and execute operations from said forward location.

  5. Not that it’s a great choice, but I’d rather see an open ranks inspection than most of the other stupid shit we saw in the month of June.

  6. It's almost like....people who do stupid bullshit don't like being called out for their stupid bullshit. Oh BTW, if I'm, I dunno, ANY OFFICER in that formation, no fucking way am I letting myself be inspected by some former MTI trying to relive his glory days.

  7. Try as I might, I can't look away from the Air Force amn/nco/snco Facebook page, because they do a good job of publicizing these kinds of shenanigans. They did not disappoint. Highlighted that MSgt Westmoreland wasn't authorized to be wearing the MTI hat when not acting as a MTI, some criticisms of his uniform, etc. Subsequently, MSgt Westmoreland reached out to the page mods and asked them to take down their posts. Which of course the mods declined, and published the message exchange. 400+ comments so far. Always love a "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes" moment. Good entertainment with my Sunday morning coffee.

  8. Meanwhile, the parts store wasn’t open for MX to get critical parts, multiple families gained another week of not having their HHGs, and an estimated 6900 pages of forms were misplaced in the uniform prep “party” hubris (but the customer won’t know until they eventually call and are told they have to start over, mi scusi!) Fucking shoes

  10. Yes. Snort died in his L-1019 up in Lewiston. Got the word from my warbird / airshow buds. He was heading back to Ft Snort when he crashed. Quite the character, and there are a lot of opinions about him. But Snort was part of the dying breed of old school fighter pilots that the current military really doesn't want around much anymore. My Tomcat buds that flew with him and worked for him think the world of him. Even the ones that didn't care for him! The fact he flew the way he did, and was able to live as long as he did... well, that's quite a feat. Snort was a Brother in Arms, and I raise a glass for him tonight. edit: for those not aware, Snort was the pilot of the famous knife-edge Tomcat pass. https://theaviationgeekclub.com/the-story-and-video-behind-dale-snort-snodgrass-legendary-super-low-banana-pass/
