  1. I absolutely believe big tech/MSM/etc are doing any number of things in concert with the power players in our government to shape, swing and direct public opinion in their favored direction. Examples of this are literally everywhere. And yes, they do it for profit, ie their bottom line.

  2. Well shit, thought I heard something about a pilot shortage. Guess not! Sorry to hear about the board results. Start lining up Guard/Reserve visits and make it happen. IMHO most units are far more concerned with “good pilot, good dude” than whatever AD block checking BS is the flavor of the day.

  4. I can't support any of that until there's an accountability process that works to remove and bar the " bad lemons" as @Kiloalpha said. If they want to work it at the same time, fine. But this shit is unacceptable. I would also add that communities need to get more involved with their police, it's not a one-way street. The culture of "civilians vs. thin-blue-line" is not healthy.

  5. Seriously? We don't have anything near "unencumbered, free range capitalism" in the US. Kickbacks, payoffs, power influencing, etc but not even close to capitalism.

  6. Probably as in I give most people I don't know the benefit of the doubt that they are doing their best at their job. Look at this forum and see how much people complain about any other career field. Finance, MPF, comm, etc. Hell, even GOs. Most are probably good people doing their best. I'd say a good chance/probability they are good people. But there are But bad experiences tend to stick out, and disproportionately affect perceptions. Plus, conscious and unconscious thinking/reactions are affected differently, and it takes much more time and positive events to make a change in uncon

  7. Probably? What military are you in? Your interactions with flightline SF are regularly negative to the point that you think most are only *probably* decent people? Perspective takes effort. It's very easy use negative anecdotes to characterize entire systems in direct conflict with reality. We're seeing that with Americans' perception of policing now. But if an educated officer will let one stupid interaction that only impacted a training sortie drive his perception to the "probably" standard, what hope does the rest of America have when the news is now completely satur

  8. I picked up both 0-4 and O-5 APZ, so there is definitely a chance to still get selected. That said, both times I had outside opportunities lined up in the event I had gotten passed over twice. There’s always a chance to keep going but make sure you have a plan B.

  9. Have a friend who got passed over for Major, separated, joined the Guard, got promoted to Major, flies for an airline. Got married, now has two kids. I say it worked out for him.

  10. Exactly. What do you do to improve a school system that's under performing? Cut funding even more? Yeah makes perfect sense. The dumbest part is that the defund movement isn't even logically consistent with the rest of the Democrat fiscal policy stances. They'll be the first to suggest increased funding for literally anything else that they deem a problem. Climate change? Throw money at it. Racial reparations? Throw money at it. The Biden administration is literally pulling off a time heist against our future economy to the tune of several trillion dollars to "fix" all sorts of per

  13. Concur that post accident discussions, if done with appropriate maturity, can be a healthy way to grow as aviators. However it’s also true that speculative discussions without facts often devolve into useless shit, much like eyewitness reports. Unhelpful. i go back and forth. I love to chat with experienced people who can offer insights I wouldn’t otherwise know into this crucial question: how could a couple professionals trying their best to avoid an accident still experience one? The answer is relevant to me today. Right now. And the safety process doesn’t satisfy. On the other h
