After witnessing the AF's continued spiral into total Maoist political insanity, I can't fathom why any aviator would ever want to be a commander. This latest case is proof positive that there is literally no hope. Even when you try to do the right thing as the boss, the Blue machine will find a way to purge you and destroy what reputation you've built. Sometimes I have a hard time believing that this is reality and not some Truman-show satirical comedy we're living. Looking forward to the political officer billets opening up in combat squadrons soon. Maybe someone should realize that the real insensitivity is loading people onto a geriatric jet and flying it into combat. Real dick move if you ask me.

Does anybody know this guy, email or anything? I am pretty furious reading about this and I want to talk to him, make sure this isn't a part of something bigger, and if not see what I can do. I am just over it...we are fighters but the Social Justice Warriors expect us to be social workers

The young captains are the ones that should be paying attention. All the PRF mentoring I got in the last two years was basically useless, because the OPR push lines I needed to say "school" and "SQ/CC" were 4-5 years ago. Hell, it was only in the past two years I learned that pairing the push line with your boss' gameplan is a recipe for disaster (i.e., the OPR says "perfect for chief of OGV" or "stellar choice for chief of safety" instead of a DO or SQ/CC push). Those young captains need that input now, before those push lines are finalized.

My wife could earn another 30% without breaking a sweat, or more if she cared to, but that extra in her paycheck pales in comparison to what my time on the road nets the household. Make no mistake, my work schedule effectively becomes HER work schedule. In the most acute example, if I’m going to work an OT day, she is effectively working a day of OT, with all of the associated life disruptions as well. So my schedule planning (especially OT) begins with her input. Our ethos is that while we may be intentionally derating her career, doing so allows us to hunt the big game with my schedule. We bid around the 14th of the month.

The guys that come to work for 4 hours a day and are pretty useless get paid the same as those who spend 10 hours a day at work embracing the queep monster. If you are between the 5 year and 18 year mark, have wings, a pulse and don't stab someone, you will make it to 20 years in the current air force.

My lack of sensing tone on the internet aside...I did not perceive you as being a d!ck. My good luck wishes to you and all is genuine. I updated 6 apps for 2.5 years in the black vacuum of the airline app websites. I watched younger less qualed dudes getting called, hired, and starting dream careers. I chose to live vicariously through their triumph instead of being a whiny b!tch. It was the only sane choice. I helped guys were I could, and it was reciprocated when able. All I mean is...good luck. Once you break through the HR electron war, the job on the other side is TOTALLY 100% WORTH IT.

It's going to be interesting to see how this works in my AFSC since the first round of bonus takers comes retainability in a couple of years. I've got young Capts coming to me worrying about this stuff...when what pawnman is saying is accurate. None of this is in your hands, timing and luck cover a lot of these issues. Bad bosses, poor writers, stuck in a shitty command...God Speed.

You will be eligible for a Restricted ATP at 750 hours assuming you went to SUPT. From there the Regionals will take you where you need and want to go. They’ll even take you non-current and non-recent.

DoD would need to cleanse tons of current usage and past history to eliminate the number 69 and Phallic Symbols from the books. IMHO, 69% or more of the ordnance items we store, load, fly, drop everyday "in my perverted/simple mind" look like a penis and function like a penis. The US military (this goes for the rest of the world also) commonly utilizes #69 to ID these penis shaped ordnance items including; bombs, projectiles, rockets, nukes, etc. There are also a few other #69 designated items (components/equipment/etc) the US military has developed that are suitable for use in the traditional #69 sexual mode of operation like "the M-69 Vietnam era flak jacket with a M-69 gas mask (PRC gets credit for this item)". Here's just a few examples of ordnance/other stuff identified by #69 and there's tons more:<) GBU-69/B Small Glide Munition; The newest GBU in the USAF arsenal. M-69 Mortar W-69 Nuke Warhead which was the physics package contained in the AGM-69 SRAM (retired in 1993). The AGM-69 SRAM was carried by the B-52. If the USAF was still using the AGM-69 with W-69 Nuke Warhead - they'd be used as one of the primary nuke ordnance loads for the B-52's of the 69th Bomb Squadron. The PC crowd would have a fit with this type of Triple 69 (69/69/69) sexual/nuke/Phallic Symbolism. Today, I have no doubt, that this Triple 69 formation would be the first item on the chopping block at the upcoming New START negotiations. M-69 Incendiary Bomblet "Which Spewed Burning Gelatinized Gasoline That Stuck to its Targets"; General Lemay would be canned today for employing this Phallic Shaped/designated #69 weapon with such sexually explicit effects. I have not gone through a special selection board but I did spend a stint as the assignments officer for my career field (not on the porch). Here's what I can tell you from my memory... If you are missing items, last I heard, the default answer is to allow the member to meet the supplemental board. What does the supplemental board look like? They essentially recreate the board that you met. Meaning, the records of folks that need to meet the supplemental board are intermingled with a controlled sample from the original board. This sample represents the cut-off that occurred at that board. If your record can beat the records that made it across the finish line...then you will be promoted. If not, then you do not promote. A word of advice. I had a member's put a crap-ton of hope into "Well my joint time was incorrect" on my record. But in the end, it didn't move the needle. Don't get me wrong, every inch counts (Al Pachino--Any Given Sunday)... but be mindful that you aren't creating false hope.

I have it on good authority from AF leadership that a BUFF squadron cannot drop bombs on time on target because of dick pics.

Apparently people forget this used to be allowed.

Don’t discount the “hight above burst” fusing, it’s great for getting that frag right in the face/head/chest area.
