What Are My Chances?

Looking for a pilot slot? Post your "what are my chances?" questions here: AFOQT, BAT, PCSM, ANG and AFRES Slots, *waivers* + more - please include your test scores, GPA, etc...

  1. I've been trying since January to take the AFOQT. I have the study guides, I've taking the online practice tests, etc. But I can't seem to get anyone body to let me physically take the test! The threads I read on here say to contact your look AFROTC Detachment. I did and they told me they only allow non-cadets to take it once in the fall during the beginning of the semester. Only cadets can take it any time. I've gone to almost every Air Force recruiting office in my metro area to try and schedule a date to take the test. All of them say you have to be putting together an officer packet before they let me take the test and I don't have enough college credits to start putt…

  2. Hello everyone, So, in the last 9 months, I've applied to pretty much every fighter opening with no bites. It's been a little discouraging, so I'm looking for some updated opinions/feedback. I'm a current regional airline pilot trying to get a pilot slot with a guard fighter unit. Age: 23 Finishing BS in Aeronautics from ERAU (finished by the end of November) GPA: 2.94 from one year of community college, 3.81 from ERAU AFOQT: Pilot-99, Nav-99, AcadApt-70, Verbal-79, Quant-56 PCSM: 94 ATP with 2625 hours, 1072 airline hours, current CFI/CFII, tailwheel LOR's from retired USAF Lt. 3. Howdy, I am currently attending a state university and have been planning on flying fighters for as long as I can remember. I am a young 20 years old and pushed through college in 3 years (May '19). Here's my current stats: AFOQT: 94 Pilot 75 Nav PCSM: 98 Major: Aviation Science w/ Flight Training Concentration GPA: 3.51 205 Hours with commercial multi w/ instrument I have met with several officers in the ANG including the wing commander. They told me now is the time to apply! The unit I am applying to currently flies F-15s, and are supposedly getting either a newer version of the F-15 or F-35s within a few years. Either way, th…

Gents, I've been toying around with the option of not staying in the Marine Corps once my initial commitment has been completed. This is due to a multitude of factors: 1/1 deployment to home ratios, aging airframes and declining flight hours, etc... That being said, each and every time I come back from a DCA, AI, or BFM flight I swear I'd sell my soul to keep doing it. I'm curious about the ANG and Reserve options, and I've done a fair amount of research, but I still feel relatively in the dark when it comes to the Air Force as a whole. Would a first tour, 4-ship Hornet flight lead be competitive in potentially getting selected for an ANG or Reserve Fighter unit?…

Does anyone have any insight on the subject? I am currently 32 already.. I know kind of late in the game but I do know of at least one guy who has acquired a UPT age waiver that was my age. I am a TSgt in the AF reserves and also a C-5M flight engineer and a prior C-130H FE. I will have my degree 95-100% complete by December of this year, still have yet to take the AFOQT and TBAS but am beginning to study for it. Also have PPL with instrument rating and 200 hours flight time, currently working on a commercial single-engine rating. I'm not holding my breath but I am willing to put in the effort to submit a pilot package with the reserves/guard if its possible to get th…

I am trying to get a feel for what my chances are at obtaining a UPT position. I have been in the guard for 6 years, TSgt and I am a Weapons Director (GCI). I am 28 yrs old so I know time is almost over. Not too picky on what to fly, fighters would be awesome an although I have heard success stories with scores less than these those were probably isolated events. Other info below please share thoughts? Rank: TSgt Work: Mission Planning NCOIC Weapons and Tactics Shop, Weapons Director (also known as enlisted ABM) GPA: 3.91 AFOQT: Pilot: 87, Nav: 52, Ap: 40, Verbal : 44, Q: 39 PCSM: 68 with 7 flight hours Will continue building fli…

  9. Just about to finish up my fixed wing private pilot should be 40 hours on the dot. Anyone have any insight on how age waivers are looking right now for Active Duty? I've already got a bach, with 4 years in the Air Force on the C-5 as a loadmaster. I'm 37, so I wasn't sure if I'd be able to subtract 4 years from my age for already active duty served time? If that's the case my age would be 33, would I even need a waiver? My goal is to get back on the C-5 or C-17. Would prefer to return to Fred as I really enjoyed the mission. I've been studying for the AFOQT for close to a year with two study guides I got off Amazon, and with my recent private pilot knowledge fe…

Here are a few things about me: -25 year old female -5'6" - fairly athletic -3.89 GPA -Taught health and PE for a couple years, then moved into the training field in the aviation industry -No flight time, but have been studying pilot books, videos and could start PPL training if needed -Highly motivated and dedicated personality - worked full time during college to pay my way through -Haven't taken the AFOQT yet, but have been studying! I have my sights set on being a fighter pilot for a few different reasons, but would just love to f…

Thanks for anyone's help before I explain below. I am an AS400 In ROTC that got picked up for RPA instead of pilot. I was talking to someone and they told me that their is the possibility of getting picked up for an ANG pilot slot or reserve slot and commissioning into the guard instead of active duty. I've looked into the process for applying to guard units and understand that it requires a lot of work and also a lot of heartbreak but there is still perhaps a chance. I have also heard that getting a cso slot into the guard is a little easier than getting a pilot and might better help chances of getting a pilot slot later on. So essentially I have two questions. 1. …

Hey fellas, I am looking for advice on my current situation. I have recently been selected to fly heavies at my home station guard unit (historically a highly competitive unit to get into) however, I am still pursuing the fighter route. I am going to preface my questions by stating that I have been upfront with my leadership and the UPT board with my aspirations. They have been nothing but supportive and understanding. So, fighter guys. Do you think it is wise to use my current position as leverage toward reaching a single seat? Is there some appeal to knowing a candidate has been selected by another unit? Overall what are your thoughts on my sit…

  15. Back before 2020, when I was still in college, I was actively pursuing the ANG. After I graduated, I pursued the Active Duty Navy due to an atrocious job market, got accepted, and even attended OCS in July of this year. However I DOR'd after the flight doc said my vision was slightly out of regs and disqualified me from SNA. I was also recommended to come back. I have already gotten LASIK on 02SEP2022 and have 20/15 vision, but it will be a long time until I have the opportunity to return to OCS for an SNA slot. In the meantime, I would absolutely love to at least take another shake at the ANG. Age: 25 AFOQT: Pilot 89 Navigator 77 Academic Aptitude 94 Verb…

At a critical age, 25 and want to go balls to the wall but also be strategic as well with getting a slot. I am wondering if I should enlist in a guard unit or try my chances with AFRC which I heard the odds are really good getting a slot. I think OTS is out of the question with these scores. Afoqt scores, taken twice but got the okay for a 3rd attempt after 150days (Form T waiver) Pilot :83 Nav: 36 Acad: 34 Verb:47 Quant :26 B.A. 3.59 GPA PCSM is 75 with 72 flight hours, but will max to 87 at 201 flight hours.

  17. I've been on these forums for quite a while but have never bothered to post one of these. I guess now is the time. I previously attended Navy OCS with a Pilot slot and disenrolled due to a family emergency involving my pregnant wife. Tried to get an age waiver but they don't do them for non-prior service, then started pursuing Guard/Reserve units, but got to be too old. Now that the age limit has been increased to 33, it looks like I've got some time to try again. -Age: 30 next month (I assume that gives me a solid year of attempting this again since 28 seemed to be the cutoff for most units when the age limit was 30) -AFOQT scores: Pilot: 92 Na…

Wondering if it's worth the risk to try the TBAS again after 1 year on active to strengthen my package. Don't think it's worth it to try the AFOQT again especially since I haven't flown in quite some time. My scores are below, would love to hear your thoughts!
