  1. To whom it may concern: I am requesting the feedback of my package from the peanut gallery. I am dead set on fighters at this point, no one has been able to change my mind. Here are my scores: Age: 23 College: Phoenix University Major: History GPA: 2.16 P74 N98 AA21 V17 Q25 PCSM: 28 Flight Certificates: PPL w/ 102 hours I am currently working at Home Depot as a loadmaster. Making hella good money, but I'm dead set on chasing the dream for fighters now. I've already taken the AFOQT 3 times, and the TBAS 2 times, these were my best scores. I've heard worst have gotten fighter slots. I've been told my navigato…

Hello guys, I'm starting AFROTC in Sept as an AS250. I'm just wondering... I have 10 tickets total, but they weren't given to me in 10 different occasions. For example, once I got pulled over and received 3 tickets for; tinted windows, expired exceptions, wrong insurance card (did have insurance though). I also received 2 parking tickets, my car has been towed twice, and camera red light. Every time I went to court, everything got dismissed. I went to the DMV and nothing came up on my driving record. Could this potentially ruin the chances of getting a UPT slot? Do they look at these things?

  4. If someone has the time to give some advice, it will be greatly appreciated. Currently a civilian with no military experience. I started a business at 22 years old and used it as a means to an end for getting my bachelors in mechanical engineering from Auburn. Worked my way through school doing manual labor with my business and my grades aren't the best, but I graduated debt free. No stranger to hard work and perseverance, so this UPT seems the right fit. Currently trying to get my application in for AD and one guard unit before the new year. I take the TBAS Friday and took the AFOQT last month. From what I know I just need a flight physical and all my i's dotted and t's …

Hello everyone, I am 18 years old and I am currently working on my bachelor's in aviation (79 credits completed). I am on track to graduate in May of 2022, which means I am graduating a year early from college. FWIW, I also graduated a year early from high school. I am primarily interested in F16 units. My AFOQT scores: Pilot: 99 Nav: 92 Acad: 77 Verbal: 66 Quant: 81 College GPA: 4.0 (Again, 79 credits completed), Dean's list and President's Honor Roll every term, no classes switched to pass/fail PCSM/TBAS: Have not taken yet (scheduled 1/6/2021). I understand it is hard to give a good answer without this. EDIT (1/6/2021) - TBAS Completed with a 96 at…

  6. Hi all, I'm currently a senior at Texas A&M University planning on graduating December 2020. I'm casting a wide net for guard/reserve units and I'm not picky about airframes. I'll be visiting the 187th AS up in Wyoming this weekend and they seem like a top notch group of people with a fascinating mission to boot so they're currently my first pick. Here are some stats: -Major: University Studies Geography, GPA 3.0 -Minor in Meteorology, Minor in Parks and Natural Resource Management -AFOQT: Pilot 98, Nav 87, AA 84, Verbal 94, Quant 63. Will be taking the TBAS soon. -18 flight hours, post-solo but progress is slower than I'd like due to maintenance,…

  7. I've been on these forums for quite a while but have never bothered to post one of these. I guess now is the time. I previously attended Navy OCS with a Pilot slot and disenrolled due to a family emergency involving my pregnant wife. Tried to get an age waiver but they don't do them for non-prior service, then started pursuing Guard/Reserve units, but got to be too old. Now that the age limit has been increased to 33, it looks like I've got some time to try again. -Age: 30 next month (I assume that gives me a solid year of attempting this again since 28 seemed to be the cutoff for most units when the age limit was 30) -AFOQT scores: Pilot: 92 Na…

  8. I've read through a ton of older threads on here. Maybe I've read to much that I've jumped the gun and confused myself. So older threads on here I found my 2008 or so, say the way to start the hiring process is by rushing a unit. I'm suppose to call a unit, ask for the pilot's ops desk and schedule a visit. I also fill out a packet and send it to the unit. If they like me they call me to the hiring board. When I call units one of two things happen. Either A they don't know what I am talking about or B. They redirect to a voicemail box that is either full or I leave a message and never hear back. The units that say they don't know what I am talking about nev…

Hello all, longtime lurker here. I am currently an active duty O-4 looking at applying to UPT for FY21. I'm medical, so I came into the AF as an O-3 and have 5.5 years of active service. I commissioned as part of a scholarship program in 2011, so I know I will need an ETP for TFCSD. I'm rather unhappy in my career but love the military and want to be more operational. My AFOQT scores were 91/99/87/98/65 but my TBAS was an abysmal 33 (0 flight hours). I plan on retaking the TBAS, of course, and working on getting some hours. My main concern is that my rank will affect any future career I would have as a pilot. I just pinned on Maj in Sept '19, but after bei…

About a year ago I enlisted into the ANG with the prospect of eventually becoming a flying officer. To make a long story short, it took over 8 months to schedule me for BMT (I planned to leave before a 3 month span, as my recruiter almost assured to me) In addition, I had a BMT date scheduled but no tech school date (apparently they were all booked up for my chosen field) I felt like waiting was only delaying my goals so I decided to pursue a discharge from the delayed entry program. My questions are the following: Can I still become a flying officer? Did I make it even more difficult to obtain a UPT slot? How will a hiring board view this discharge? Would I…

Feeling super bad about this one. Had an interview with a fighter squadron not too long ago and the topic of vaccines came up because I asked about it. I am not opposed to the Covid-19 vaccine but I just haven't gotten it yet. Figured I would receive it if I could hopefully get hired. It seemed like this thought process was not well received and now I am losing a lot of sleep. Should I have kept my mouth shut about this and should I go and get the vaccine now so this isn't an issue anymore?

Hello all, I have what may be a somewhat unique situation that I haven't really been able to find an answer for. I separated active duty about two years ago from the Air Force as an O-3. I moved to a state where recreational marijuana is legal and experimented with it twice when on IRR. Later, I started taking flight lessons and saw a Guard UPT board announcement and am considering applying for multiple Guard/Reserve slots in multiple airframes since I am still under the age limit. Would my experimentation disqualify me from a UPT position or a security clearance? I was not on active duty at the time and not taking flight lessons at the time either. For r…

Hi folks, I'm looking to like to apply for a USAF pilot slot in near future. I have no military experience, but several of my buddies are and after hearing their stories, I know this is definitely something I want to do. Here's my scores. AFOQT Scores: Pilot: 98 | Nav: 87 | Acad Apt: 62 | Verbal: 32 | Quant: 88 PCSM Score: 76/88 (no hours/with flight hours) Age: 23 GPA / Major: 2.76 in History I just started working towards my Instrument Rating if thats important, anyways, how do these scores fare? Thanks for the feedback!

  14. About a year ago I had highly competitive scores and was getting guard/reserve fighter squadron interviews left and right. While I never got picked up, I felt that eventually I would get a slot. ...fast forward to today: I was turned down from even getting an interview at a fighter board where I interviewed a year prior and was in the top third of interviewees, I was turned down from the active duty board, and I am not even getting heavy squadron interviews anymore. I have a hunch that there are a few others in my position as well, so I might as well ask this question as broadly as possible: What can we do to improve our chances? The common feedback that …

Hey everyone. I just recieved a pilot slot on the 0504 board with a GPA of 2.61 and ZERO flight hours. People can give you their best guess at your odds/chances of getting picked, and many people here are really accurate. But, if you don't apply, you don't need a best guess to tell you your chances.

  16. Hi folks, I know this might seem like a rather bold question, but I have searched quite a bit and haven't found the exact answers I am looking for. I thought this would be the place to ask before I start contacting units. I have seen on unit applications that there is an education exception to policy for applicants who do not have Bachelor's degrees but are "exceptionally qualified." The requirements were based on hours completed and GPA with the caveat of finishing a Bachelors within 4 years of commission. So here is where I am at currently, and why I see this as an opportunity. Personal Details: -2 Associates Applied Science in Aviation Maintenance. 4.0 GPA Board …

I am also currently working toward A&P certification, and will complete my PPL prior to December. I will complete my degree May 2006, three months prior to the end of my enlistment. I will take the AFOQT and the BAT some time after I test for SSgt in May. OK, so here's the bad stuff. Three and a half years ago I was arrested on Elmendorf AFB and charged with DUI on my way home to the dorms. I received an Article 15 and a reduction in pay grade. As someone who really wants to joint the fighter community, how the hell does one get into ENJJPT? I've asked IPs from EN tails, my cadre, former eagle and viper drivers and the best answer I have gotten is a big fat no ing clue. Some say GPA some say DG at field training, Commander's ranking, PCSM, flight hours, the whole nine. I have yet to get a solid answer and it's been chewing me up inside. My current scores are 89 Pilot 85 Nav 3.2 GPA Aerospace Engineering Haven't taken TBAS yet so no PCSM. What y'all got for me? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

I just recently graduated high school and I don't know if I should enlist in the Air Force or go to college. What would give me the better chance of eventually becoming a pilot for the Air Force? I was wondering in how much time would I be able to get a 4 year degree? My recruiter says its possible to do it within 4 years but I have trouble seeing that happen with deployment and all. I know that many Air Force bases offer Embry-Riddle courses (most online) and I'd be most interested in getting an Aeronautics degree from that school. If I go to college it would be for a Police Science BS degree. My AF recruiter wants to put me in as a Security Forces Apprentice and I heard…

Hey everyone! I just wanted to see if anyone could shed some light on how my chances are looking right now. I am at an F16 guard unit as an E5 in the safety office and I am currently 29.5 years old. I have 45.4 flight hours and a PCSM of 81 and I am awaiting my PPL check ride right now. My AFOQT scores are 98-pilot, 91-Nav, 87-Acad, 87-verbal, and 81-quant. I have about a 3,2 GPA with a nursing degree. I am looking to apply to the ANG or AFRES to fly heavies. My score will go up to 85 at 60 hours. Thank you all in advance for any light you can shine or advice about how to improve. Taylor Pate

Hello, I'm new to the forum, and I'm interested in learning more about becoming an Air Force pilot via OTS. Here are some stats: I'm an active duty enlisted Marine with 5 years of F/A-18 experience. I'm getting out honorably with a Secret Clearance and excellent health. I'm about a year and half away from earning my bachelor's degree in Aviation Technical Management from Embry Riddle with a 3.8 GPA. I have an Airframe and Powerplants Certificate (A&P), as well as about 50 hours of flight time as a Private Pilot. Some setbacks: I have a misdemeanor for criminal damage to property on my record from when I was 18 (I'm 24 now). However, I'm in the process of ge…

So, long story short after 3 years ROTC didn't work out for me, so at this point my options are to enlist now or pursue a commission through OTS or the ANG/Reserves. I only have 2 years left before I finish my degree, which means I can start applying to OTS late next year. I realize its probably the most competitive route and currently there are no pilot slots for FY14/15. I'm 22 years old so I know time isn't an issue yet. My question is, should I enlist and finish my degree on AD, or should I just finish my degree now and start applying to OTS? I'm not 100% excited about enlisting to be honest (I've spent the last 8 years pursuing officer programs) but I will do it …
