Please forgive me if I've missed something via search--I've tried numerous queries here, on other similar sites, ePubs, and generally via Google, but can't seem to find anything official that points to UPT age waiver availability for those over 33, and in my scenario, specifically re: an ANG UPT slot. In short, I'm working with a very cool and really genuine ANG recruiter of a non-fighter unit who's been super helpful in our initial convos, but I feel we may have some wires crossed re: UPT age waivers. Essentially, they told me that active duty cut-off age for UPT is 30, but on the AD site it says "Becoming an Air Force Pilot requires you to meet strict physical, med…

Not sure if this is possible but wanted to see if anyone knew- I was hired by an ANG squadron a little over a year ago. FC1 and all of that has been done for some time and was expecting April 1 OTS, then expected July 30 when I didn't get April, and haven't received anything on that. The next dates aren't til October. I would request orders to go work full time at my hiring unit until training, but I currently live in another state, and also have a lease until October, as well as an SO who can't yet leave her job. So my question is- would it be possible for me as an E3 awaiting OTS and UPT dates, to try to get orders/work at the AF Reserve airlift base in my cur…

What's the major differences between the ANG and the Reserves. I understand that the guard is owned by the state, but at the pilot level, what diferences are there? Thanks in advance

These are for current, previously qualified or potentially qualified fighter dudes. NOT SUPT CANDIDATES, so don't post or ask. Mostly I'll post Nationwide, but sometimes I'll miss it if they are hiring internally. 30 year old male. What would be chances of applying for a guard or reserve spot if disenrolled from ROTC > 10 years ago. I currently am a CFI/II/MEI with hundreds of flight hours and fly helicopters, airplanes and gliders. I am in a profession that required graduate school and am burnt out. Flying is my real passion. I can get many strong references. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm currently a college student working towards a goal of getting a UPT slot with the Guard or Reserve (C-130s), but I'm considering enlisting now as a Load (C-130s) to help my chances and have some financial help. My question is, would I be required to serve the entire enlistment, or could I start working on my packet, interviews, OTS, etc. when I finish my degree? I'll be done with my degree before being done with my enlistment, and I was wondering if that's a possibility. Thanks for the help.

Hello to all. First off thanks to all of those on here who share a plethora of helpful information, it's truly helpful to someone on the outside of this community looking for a way into it. Before I ask this question, I have used the search function, google, and a bunch of other resources and still can't find this answer.... Is it possible for someone to become an RPA pilot in the ANG/AFR and then apply to an ANG/AFR unit in hopes of getting a pilot slot after serving time in an RPA unit? (I believe from this forum the minimum is 2.5 year commitment). I can't find any info what so ever so any helpful answers are sincerely appreciated. -RANDOMDUDE

Hey, For those of you in the ANG or AFR who have been deployed, what did you do with your family? If it's just a spouse, can they come with you? Are you eligible for on-base housing with your spouse? If you have a wife and kids I guess you don't really have any choice but to leave them behind, if the wife works or the kids are in school..... If you've been deployed, how long was it for, and how rough was it? My girlfriend and I currently live in different states, so I'm a little bit accustomed to being apart, but I'm wondering how hard on the family it is when you get deployed? Thanks for your info, -Will Also, an entirely unrelated but similarly n00bish questio…

Good day, aviators. I do not wish to ask extraneous or unnecessary questions, but am looking for some guidance. I want to know how to improve my chances of flying in the ANG/AFRES. I have done extensive research, and found WantsCheck.com to be a gold mine of great info! I have a few more questions for more qualified and personal advice: Lil' background info: about halfway to my undergrad major here in Kansas City. I have a near-impeccable GPA, and am studying English. (Bare with me lol) As of right now, I don't see how I could possibly have the $3K to obtain a PPl. I'm also aware my chances of having a good enough packet to get an interview would be a killer AFOQT…

I am starting my search for ANG/Reserve jobs. I have 14 years AD and would like to find a full time job to finish out my 20 years and beyond if the unit lets me go past 20. Many of my buddies have fallen into AGR slots but it seems like I can't find anything. There are prospects here and there but most seems like timing...units standing up.. basically being in the right place at the right time. I have RPA experience.. 12S core right now.. have AC/MC/slick experience and what I think is a good resume but nothing seems to be out there. At this point I would accept a non-flying. There are no centralized websites for job searches.. one website has different jobs than an…

Repost from another forum: Background: USMC AH-1W driver looking to go ANG FW fighters. I know the FWQ course that was previously designed for Army RW guys without joint-FW primary experiences (t-6/34c) has gone away. Looking to see in more recent years (FWQ seemed to die around 2013) if anyone on here put in for a rated-slot, went to the ARB, and were given a specific pathway. Thanks.

Looking for anyone who may have first hand experience on this track, or are on the receiving end of this that can give me any information/recommendations whatsoever on the process. I'm looking to commission into a guard unit straight from ROTC. I am a 7 year ANG vet and I'm now on scholarship with ROTC at a part 141 flight school. I can provide more information if necessary. This process is quite new and i have spoken with the Col. who is the man in charge of the program. He said i would be the first one to go through this program and he would like to use me as a success story so i'm really trying to make this happen. Anything helps!

Hello, my name is Evan Stahl. I am making an inquiry to see if anyone knows how I might be able to get in contact with Seymour Johnson's 4th fighter wing. I applied to the USMC PLC program (commissioning route for college students) and was not granted a guaranteed aviation contract. I can reapply next quarter (June 1st), but the contract is still not guaranteed until I am accepted. I heard from my brother that reserve squadrons can offer pilot slots and decided to reach out to you guys. I called the public affairs officer for the wing but did not get anywhere. Thanks guys

I'm starting UPT in July and I was wondering if anyone on this board is going to be there with me. As far as I know, there are four Guard dudes in the class ahead of me, and one in the class after.

Does anyone know about staff jobs in the ANG that will let you fly? I heard these are coded API-8. I am curious if you are an non-current/ unqualified pilot, would these staff jobs cover the cost retraining at the schoolhouse to become basic mission qualified for any airframe?

Hey everyone, Wanted to share something that recently happened and see if anyone here has insight or perspective on whether this kind of experience is common, or if I just caught a bad break. I applied to a squadron and was told I’m permanently disqualified. The reasons given were that I “called too much” and that I had a “bad attitude.” I’ll own the first part—I followed up more than most, but only because communication was practically nonexistent. No updates, no notifications, no visibility on where things stood. I thought I was being persistent and showing genuine interest, but maybe that didn’t land well. The second part—that I had a bad attitude—really…

Searched, couldn't find an answer. I was twice deferred on active duty. Got out. Found an IMA position. I'm about to meet my first reserve board and I'm not sure if I'm considered IPZ or APZ. In practice, the only real difference is DOR, but I'm curious. As an IMA, my CSS is active duty, so they aren't too experienced with reservists and the AFI doesn't distinguish. Does anybody know if I'm considered APZ or IPZ for the (mandatory, not PV) board? Thanks.

Hi guys, I am a sister service convert and require an aeronautical ratings board. I’m familiar with the process after reading reading the AFMAN and some other gouge online. I built my packet and it’s approved by the Wing CC. My HARM office is now convinced that the ARB requires a medical approval letter from NGB before we can submit the ARB. My approved FC1 is already in the packet. Does anyone know if there is an additional medical approval required and what it is for? Does anyone have any ARB POCs that I can pose this question to? Thanks in advance for any help! Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

I know we have to get a dental exam every year, and since I get my teeth cleaned twice a year with my civilian dentist, I have him fill out the exam form and I turn that in. When I first got into the ARC I thought I heard some doctor type tell us that we had to get examined by an *Air Force* dentist every 3 years. I might have heard wrong or he might have been wrong. Has anyone heard of or experienced this?
