  1. This may sound a bit out of the box/left field. Hypothetically speaking, would it be conceivable, if I were an Individual Reservist/IMA in a given squadron, could I work out an arrangement to request active-duty orders to cover me while I pay for my own flight training in the hopes of completing all my ratings in order to streamline the process and make myself competitive for a board? The only cost would be salary and NOT flight training, which would be covered (in this case) by GI Bill funds.
  2. Hello all, I wanted to check in and see if anyone is looking/participating in CPW process. I’ve been researching it and believe I can meet the minimum requirements for application in 1 year or so. I’ve a PPL and will be pursuing instrument, commercial, and multi engine ratings using Post 9/11 GI Bill.
  3. FDNY et al, I just found this thread and it has got me started! I’m 39, non-rated and prior service. I’m an O-4 Marine Reservist and want to give my dreams to fly heavies one last shot before my youth slips away. I also have a PPL and 50+ hours. I’ve started reaching out to units and recruiters and the results have been mixed. But I won’t quit and one unit welcomed me to pay a visit. Thank you for the information you all shared. I hope to move farther in the process and know it’ll take hard work and dedication, which I’m well familiar with!
  4. FDNY, just wanted to let you know this thread has given me lot's of hope! I'm 39 but am a Reserve officer (non-rated) from a sister service. I'm in the beginning stages of planning and this information has really helped, thank you!
