Trying to make sure I understand the finer points of ANG/AFRC retirement policies. If this has already been asked/answered, please vector me onto this. I know that someone who has 20+ years of service qualifies for a retirement at age 60 (minus activated time in the ARC in 3-month blocks). My understanding is that if someone completes a total of 20+ years of active service between AD and/or on orders/AGR in the ARC, they qualify to draw retirement pay at the time of their retirement. (I.e., 16 years active component + 4 years on full time orders). Is this correct? I know having 7200+ points isn’t sufficient for an AD retirement without 20 years active service, an…

Hey everyone. I just have a question about UPT and AMS dates. My unit currently has 2 upt slots for June 05 and two for July 05. A few of the guys i've talked two in the unit say its possible that i could go to UPT during one of those months. The question I have is, does our AMS date depend on when our UPT date is? or Do we get our AMS date taken care of first than the UPT date? I would appreciate any input. If this doesn't make sense, let me know and I'll try to clarify.

This topic will be pinned to top of forum to help out future interviewees. Please post any gouge on interview questions and ROE's that you guys have run into lately. I have been getting some questions to this effect and it has been 6 or so years ago since my interview. Any input is welcome. Thanks.

  4. Looking for any advice/insight on an offer I'm considering. I'm a DSG with full time orders in a program that doesn't have a certain future, but would most likely last at least 2-3 years. I'm still a ways off from retirement, ~14 years to go, O-3 looking to pin on O-4 next year. I've been offered the Wing XP position, but they are switching it from a AGR position to a Technician Position to save on resources. It will be a GS-13 position, not sure of what step. I'll maintain being a DSG with current unit and still drill and fly when able. If anyone has any experience with any of these variable's to help me make a decision, I'd appreciate it. I don't think either scenario …

  6. For the masses. I’m currently AD with almost 19 years (prior-E). C-17 background and currently flying the T-1. I’d like to continue to serve in a part-time capacity. Does anyone have any idea of how successful someone would be making the transition to the Guard/Reserves, with that much time in. I’d prefer a C-17 unit, but would accept any job, if/when I’m hired by the airlines. 2nd option: Completing 20 years AD, then going Guard/Reserves? thanks in advance

I'm separating from Active Duty but haven't specifically picked a Guard or Reserve Unit. In my searches/ conversations/ interviews, however, I keep getting told to avoid a "Break in Service" as if is a terrible thing and will adversely affect me, but I can't really get a solid explanation as to why. My financial situation allows my wife & I to comfortably take a few months off and travel, researching various units in the meantime. Why can't I be on "IRR" status until I've picked a unit and done the paperwork? How will this hurt my future Guard/Reserve career? Or, for that matter, an Active Duty career should I later decide to join the pilot recall program?

So my guard gig is getting ready to expire due to a unit mission change. I've been hunting for a guard/reserve position close to where I'm living. I've traded emails with the DO of a range ops det, and he's interested in having some IMA support, but currently doesn't have any open positions. He mentioned that he's not really up to speed on getting reserve support. I'm going to get in touch with the IMA coordinator at ARPC (not sure if that's what the position is really called) for this region to see what's what. Have any of you heard of or personally had any success in facilitating the creation of a position, and subsequently filling it? I'm pretty ignorant of…

I most recently SIE out of OTS due to family concerns. I was selected for an A/D Pilot Slot. I'm not asking any of you what you think of my SIE.. I had my reasons and it was the proper choice. NOW... I believe the ANG offers a better lifestyle for myself and my wife. Would the ANG consider someone with my situation?

Hello guys, I'm a 21 year old freshmen, and interested in becoming a KC-10 pilot. I live in NJ, where the 108th refueling wing resides... My plan so far is to enlist as a boom operator. After technical training, I will utilize the gi benifits to attend Mercer county college which has an 'Aviation Flight Program'. Every certificate has its flight fees, something I'm assuming the gi bill may cover, but honestly not really sure... The total cost of there 2 year program is about 28-32 k according to there flight coordinator. Anyways, I will later transfer to Embry-Riddle worldwide, and then finally apply for a pilot position my junior/senior year. What do you guys t…

The 114th Fighter Squadron is holding a hiring board in June for the F-35 training pipeline. Please submit applications to the MilRecruiter link below. Due to the number of application packages we have received and the high ops tempo that we currently have, we are putting a hold on squadron visits. We will plan on extending invites to visit the squadron after your application has been received and reviewed. If you are invited, you can plan on attending a visit during the May drill from the 3rd-5th of May. We will attempt to get invites out as soon as possible. I realize this is not ideal for planning purposes but due to TDYs and the mission this is where we are…

Hey guys, anyone on these boards familiar with the 115th FW out of Madison? I will be interviewing soon for a maintenance position. I have a background in machining, metal work, etc., hence why I am looking in that direction. Is the unit pretty cohesive? What is the atmosphere like? I have interviewed with a couple of heavy units and the shop and squadrons were very relaxed but this is my first and only non-heavy unit I'll be interviewing with. I'm both nervous and excited because I have no idea what to expect. The posts on fighter squadrons are plentiful on this board but the perspectives are so varied in comparison to the consensus on heavy squadrons. Thanks …

Sad news for Nashville and the 118th. They used to fly 130s but are now a RPA/drone operation.

  18. Hey fellas, first off appreciate the answers and help up front. I'm an 11B guy with a couple years left on ADSC and looking to Palace Chase. By the time my ADSC is up (assuming I can't get out earlier) I'll be 33 years old. Is it realistic at that point to try and rush a 11F guard/reserve unit in the hopes of getting picked up or do I need to recage my nugget on some other goal. Also how far out from separation should I start working on getting in with a unit? Should I separate first, get picked up by the majors, then come back and rush? Or rush and simultaneously apply for the majors as well. I'm also coming up on my possible last AD assignment before separation and I wa…

Please direct all questions to 122fspilothiring@gmail.com. I won’t respond to DMs, inquiries, etc. on this platform. Nuke Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Here is some information up front: - This is not for UPT applicants. - We are looking to hire 1-2 current / qualified F-16 pilots. We would consider a TX course for fighter drivers from other platforms or if non-current. - This is for a traditional Guardsman position within the unit. There have historically been good full-time opportunities for pilots joining the unit, but it is not guaranteed. - We have a 50 mile rule. You must reside within 50 miles of Tulsa IAP. - We fly Block 42, MMC 5.2+ jets with -229's. - If interested, please PM me with your contact info.

  25. Greetings all. We are in the process of converting to the C-130J. We have a few part time slots available for the right people if they are interested in making the move. Current loadmasters on any airframe are preferred but we can consider taking someone off the street as well. Applicants must live locally or are actively arranging to move to the metroplex. This is a fantastic area with endless civilian employment opportunities. Lockheed is across the runway, Southwest and American are headquartered here as well. This is a great unit with plenty of interesting trips/travel. Shoot me a PM if interested.
