Every spring and early summer, AU hosts mandatory training for all incoming Group Commanders. Many senior leaders and staff members speak to the class about leadership and current AF issues. The class has all AFSCs together for the first week, then they split ops and support. Each class has a senior mentor during the first week. If you had the opportunity to give incoming group commanders advice, what would you say? Your words may be projected on the wall at Maxwell. Seriously, I've already got the wear sunscreen speech.

why is the t-38 so hard to land? I heard thats the reason most students drop out of 38s.

Hi.... What will lead to a better life T38's or T1's? I’m about to select in Pensacola for T-38/T1/T44. I know it is not a for sure deal but as of right now, I’m the only AF in my class that is thinking about 38's. So If I put it down, I will probably get 38's (grades are good enough to get them too) I want to have a family (currently married no kids), get my MBA, get some leadership exp, and fly a good platform and I’m not sure what I should choose? Please Help....

RR won the contract over GE and PW. With the engine and some other upgrades, sounds like the old gal will get a new designation to B-52J and fly well into 2050s. Yes, I've used the search function, and I even read all about the rules and regulations and understand the basics. What I want to know is, has anyone here used it while deployed? It seems like a good deal at first glance, but all of the stipulations they add to it sound like a pain in the ass. How easy is it to get signed up? Have you had any hassles or pay issues, either starting or at the end of participation? And it mentions that you can take out sums greater than 10k (if your account has gotten that big) in installments. But can you also elect to withdraw it in a lump sum regardless? Alright, we need to make a decision basically tonight about this, so any help is greatly appreciated. My wife is moving out to Tucson tomorrow. She was originally going to an apartment that I got for her up in the north part of town, with a lease ending in February, at which time we were going to either move on base anyway or possibly look around for a house to buy (expensive). I'm a rising 100/200 at my local detachment (560, if it makes a difference) and I've asked this in many places, but apparently it's not too common. I hope you can help. I'm an Orthodox Jew, and I was wondering if anyone had any insight into how possible accommodations are once I'm commissioned and assigned. 1. Sabbath- I'm fully willing to trade assignments with someone and work on Sunday, Easter, Christmas, etc. but is this an option? 2. Just got some short notice UPT dates for Laughlin. If anyone is currently there I would love to discuss the current state of UPT, ROM expectations for this winter and lodging for accompanied members. For reference I'm a guard 135 guy who will be PCSing with my wife and dogs in mid September. As a broad discussion: How many hours are students currently expecting to get during UPT (2.5?) If I hold a single engine CPL, what PIC time can I log during T-6s (Only solo time?) Any advice/study guides I should familiarize myself with prior to arrival? Thanks!
