So we've got 2 POVs we're going to ship back to CONUS here in a few months. Suffice to say all the people moving right now have put me off of using the company the gubment's contracted with. I've dug through the JFTR, but just looking to see if I can double up with a personally contracted company and be reimbursed for the cost of the single car. Similar to personal procurement of tickets. Thanks.

Anyone have any recent first or second hand experience retiring and then joining the reserves or guard. I heard of one or two people doing this since I first heard of the program advertised around 2007, but wasn't sure if there were any more recent examples. Wondering what the pain level might be for approval these days. I know the financial benefits might be negligible for doing it.

Very, very well done, Jack. https://www.af.mil/News/ArticleDisplay/tabid/223/Article/783640/edge-of-space-emergency-tests-aviators-skills.aspx He's the 4th U-2 pilot I know to earn this distinction, and the 3rd since 2003. I believe the Kolligian Trophy is the only individual award given by the CSAF.

Nothing written up in the TDY gouge section; TDY to NFARS for a few weeks. Lodging? WiFi quality in said lodging? Gym? Local eats? Send it!

The Air Force MARS phone patch net supports all DoD, Federal and State agencies providing HF radio to telephone interfacing. We have increased our monitoring due to hurricane Matthew and would like to remind pilots / operations that we are available to handle Official (and Morale) HF phone patch to DSN or commercial numbers. Specific information is in the Flight Information Pilot (FLIP) document. Please feel free to contact me or the net via https://marsphonepatch.net for any further information. PhonePatchNetBooklet.pdf

I've searched to no avail, and not sure if Finance Guy is still around but here is my question since the JTR isn't very clear (go figure). Scenario 1: Let's say that I'm on a 179-day TDY in country A living off base, that turns into 183 days TDY (not including travel days). So under the flat rate per diem rules, I would receive 55% of the full rate for country A. I get that. Scenario 2: Now let's say that at the beginning of this TDY I arrive in country A, spend 10 days there, then go TDY to country B for 2 days before returning to location A for the remainder of the 171 days. For this scenario, my understanding is that I would be paid full per diem for the 10 da…

How does having a bankruptcy on your record look, when you are trying to get a security clearance for the Air Force. (Either a Secret or Top Secret clearance) Thanks for the help.

I've read about units paying for hotel for those who don't live in the area while on duty for the weekend. However, was wondering if travel (i.e. air travel) is discounted when travelling from out of state to your unit's base?

Hello to everyone from the sandbox. Just wanted to give a quick hello and apologize for my absence in posting lately. I don't know how this board can survive without my one sided and completely irrelevant and unhelpful posts! BTW - Did that Check Six dipshit ever get the message and stop posting? HD [ 21. Anyone found a solution to the Garmin 35 interface with the GPS35. The software causes the mouse to go nuts and the moving map is unusable. The CF-29 is a great computer, but the CF-27 is looking better all the time. H2Nav

I was just wondering if it's possible to switch from an ANG unit to an AFRES unit or vise versa? If so, can it only happen after the 10 year commitment? Is it possible to switch to a unit with a different airframe? Also, what are the chances of a ANG/AFRES person going back and flying part time at an UPT base? I'm just looking to get a more thorough idea of how things work. Thanks!

I've read in earlier posts that there are interservice transfers for winged aviators. But if they didn't already fly fighters, their only hopes were heavys and helos. But, is it possible for an interservice transfer from let's say, a non-pilot Coast Guard officer with 3 years, end of commitment, to transfer to the Air Force and go to UPT and not be limited to what aircraft he/she can select?? any info would be great.
