Anyone else know they're in 06-01 at Laughlin? Report dates? I'm there Sept 27. (Doesn't this make you other XL studs feel weird that we're starting 06?)

Hey guys, I've been reading here a while and I'm looking for a little help... I'm currently waiting to start pilot training at Vance and before I got down here my aunt gave me some of my grandfathers old Army Air Corps things. Neither she nor my dad really know much about what he did but from what they do remember I know that he was flying transport over the Burma hump. My aunt thinks that he did some of his pilot training here but some of the pictures that she gave me also show him in Muskogee. I also have his ribbon rack and he has the Distinguished Flying Cross with a bronze oak leaf cluster. Basically, I'm wondering if there is anyway to find out exactly …

Well here we go again; Kentucky Derby is upon us. Tomorrow is the 131st running of the Kentucky Derby, the first and most coveted race of the Triple Crown. This year boasts a newly renovated Churchill Downs and absolutely beautiful weather. The combination has brought more corporate jets to Louisville International than I've ever seen in my life! Be that as it may, we can't let the CEO's and top execs of corporate America have all the fun! Enter the USAF and USN! I walked over and spoke with two of the Lieutenants from Vance. I thought they were just passing through...nope! They're here for the ponies! They flew in today and don't leave …

I am sure some relic-lovers will enjoy this. The link below has some pics I took of great Air Force machines fading into history out in Avon Park bombing range. Full-screen versions print out well. https://hollysid.tripod.com/sid/index.album?i=2

Philadelphia Inquirer July 19, 2005 Prison For Burglars Of Marine's Widow By Keith Herbert, Inquirer Staff Writer Two heroin addicts were sentenced to state prison yesterday for burglarizing the Bridgeport apartment of a slain U.S. Marine while his widow was away making funeral arrangements for him last year. Montgomery County Judge Paul W. Tressler sentenced Kevin Selvoski, 25, of Bridgeport, and Robert Coulson, 27, of Swedesburg, to 71/2 to 30 years in prison. The prison sentences were longer than usual in part because of the "extreme emotional distress" that the victims suffered, Tressler said. Both men had pleaded guilty to burglary and criminal co…

Hey y'all. I have a situation. I am in pilot training for a Guard heavy unit...and track select pretty soon. I have the opportunity to switch over to fighters, one unit is in the same state, another is in another state. I believe I would get hired by those two units to fly fighters, however, I have to have my unit agree to release me. How likely is this, and really, am I just going to end my career, and get released if I even try? I dont wanna piss anyone off too badly. Thanks alot for any insights. [ 02. I see that Washington D.C. is allocated CONUS COLA for 2021. Any of you smart people know if this applies to the Pentagon? It is physically located in Arlington, VA but has Washington D.C. addresses. I suspect the answer is Virginia, since that will cost the government less $$, but thought I’d ask the question.

I'm trying to find an AFI or DoDI that covers postal benefits, but am not having any luck. I'm an exchange officer stationed in Europe 3 hours from the nearest APO and 7 hours from the nearest US base. Back in the day the USAF had a contract with DHL to deliver mail from the closest US base to my location once per week. Due to budget issues that went away but was replaced with a monthly TDY mail run. That soon changed to a quarterly TDY. That then changed to a quarterly mileage only TDY. That turned into nothing and I have no support at all. I now pay about $120 out of pocket and miss a day of work each time I want to check the mail. I wouldn't care about missin…

So my daughter *may* be headed to GK, I've already looked up the German pet requirements for them, but a quick question: Anybody have any suggestions on pet travel to Germany? I know Lufthansa has a good pet program, as does my employer. I'd love to hear any gouge or recommendations anyone might be willing to share. Leave the vehicles and purchase through the exchange? I separated from active duty before my daughter was born but she still thinks I know everything about everything so any help here is appreciated. Thanks!

Anyone know of anyone who went from fixed wing to rotorcraft in the reserves? I am entertaining the idea. I do not know if it is possible. I guess I would have to have a unit sponsor me for it....

Quick question, I checked the JFTR, but couldn't find much on the subject. Not sure it will come to this, but I'm trying to find out if I have any ability to file for reimbursement for a lost bag... Scenario - Last minute get switched from flying mil-air to flying a jet home, bag was put in pile to be loaded onto cargo pallet, a buddies bag was also with it. His bag made it home, mine did not. Communication from all the parties who handled the luggage has been good, but the bag hasn't turned up yet. A sweep of the TDY location didn't turn up any left bags, the pallet didn't have it when it arrived, and the crew of the aircraft doesn't have any additional bags th…
