Anybody have any success in getting the FAA to sign off on the new Hawker 400XP type in addition to the BE40 and Mitsubishi Diamond? Beech has renumbered their assembly line, much like Gulfstream did, and apparently the Hawker 400 is the equivalent to our T-1 but I have not heard of anybody getting all three types out of UPT yet. Thanks- Guppyguy

  2. Hopefully they find the second person. Another article mentioned that there was a report that both pilots were out and clinging to the side of the plane before it sank. 50 degree air temp and 50 degree water at the time of the crash, hopefully they find the other pilot soon. I was thinking about making my gouge available in case anyone wants to use it. API, Systems, systems and NATOPS questions, and EPs so far. If there is a good response to this i'll go ahead and do it.

So I was reading through my copy of the T-34 limitations, and it says that normal operation burns 335 lbs/hr. Holy hell, that seems like a lot! Is this thing right, or do I have bad info? What is normal fuel flow on some other airframes? Also, if this info is wrong, does anyone know where I can get some good info on the T-34? Thanks a million!

Does anyone know what the latest change to the T-34 NATOPS manual is? I'm headed to VT-3 in a week (from API) and want to know if I need to add/delete/change anything on my flashcards. I have all changes up to Change 39 (Change 39!!! I guess they've never heard of a T.O. revision in the Navy). Also, anyone at VT-3 know how long the wait is after ground school? Our API class has been hearing a ton of rumors (varying from 4 up to 10 week wait rumors), but nothing 100% confirmed. Thanks for the help. [ 24. As a former FE in the AF as well as civilian life I never had the pleasure of flying an aircraft with wings the size of credit cards so this video was very informative. I never realized that the T-38 was a category E approach aircraft but it should have been obvious since the wings are essentially scaled down from an F-104. The author states that we have been crashing T-38’s on circling approaches for 50+ years so I have to ask, is this type of training really that necessary on the T-38? https://youtu.be/huYvrZm_Y_M?si=UnqokXrEaumim5Mi

I heard that there is/was a Moody pilot with 1000+ hours in the T-38A, 1000+ in the AT-38B, and is getting close to 1000 hours in the T-38C. True statement? Also, other than this Moody pilot, is there anyone currently flying the T-38 for the USAF with over 3000 hours in the Talon?

I've used the search function, but my questions are more specific. I am curious about the backgrounds / flying hours for dudes who track select to the T-38. Specifically, do most T-38 guys have high hours (300+ or 1000+) and advanced ratings (instrument / commercial / aerobatic) before beginning UPT? I'm reading these old posts which state track select is based on 40% checkrides, 30% daily rides, 20% commander ranking, 10% test scores. So, I’m thinking if someone aces the academics and has a great commander ranking it's not enough, 70% is pure situational awareness and ability to handle the Tweet / Texan. When I read just “bust you’re a**” and make sure your #1 in…

Do any of you T-38 pilots have any recent experience landing at civilian fields in SoCal, as far as getting an airstart? How about Palm Springs? I know SBD, Chino, Van Nuys, and Long Beach are good to go.
