Lockheed Says F-35 Could Fly Pilotless Pentagon Demand for Drones Grows By Renae Merle Washington Post Staff Writer Wednesday, August 16, 2006; D01 Lockheed Martin Corp. has proposed an unmanned version of its Joint Strike Fighter, the F-35, which would make it the first full-scale fighter to operate without a pilot and signal the Bethesda weapons maker's push into the growing market for drone aircraft. The idea has been in the works for two years, Lockheed Vice President Frank Mauro said at a briefing yesterday. He provided few details but said the plane could be built as an interchangeable hybrid -- manned by a pilot for some missions and operated remotely f…

Did a search, but no luck. Is it possible to change your home of record? I remember someone told me you could do it once in your career, but at the point I wasn't interested. Anyone know of someone who did it, and what kind of asspain process they went through to get it changed?

Anyone ever done a Report of Survey? I got tagged by my squadron to be the investigating officer for some stolen/missing equipment. Have not found anybody in the squadron who has done one that has time to answer a few questions. It's an interesting additional duty but going through regs is a pain. Grandpa [ 08. I am currently at PIT and planning on taking leave during the week of Christmas. Will I still get per diem while I am on leave during that time? I have asked the finance office here at RAFB and one person said I would and the another said I wouldn't. I was just looking for anyone that has dealt with the same thing. Thanks.

I've gotten a few letters from a flying club in the local area. I'm wondering if this seems like a good deal to you. A C-172 rents for $80/hour (roughly) in this area so in my mind I'd only have to fly 1 hour a month to break even. $1000 up-front to buy a 1/36th share in the club (which can be resold later) $40/month dues C-150 - $39/hour wet C-172 - $52/hour wet Citabria - $49/hour wet

I read a book about F100 FAC pilots in a book called Bury us upside-down and noticed in alot of pictures they had the "aussie" style boonie hats with one side folded up. I guess it was in-country tradition tradition. Do they still use these? IF not I was wondering if there are any other in-country traditions. Thanks guys

I've been searching online for a week now on some of the new aviator glasses I saw a pilot down at tyndall wearing. THey were more sleek than the normal round lense aviators. Anyone know what I'm talking about and how to get some?

Ok so about four of us were in uniform at Jimmy Johns in Madison, WI, and as we were eating, some regular looking guy was at the counter, staring at us. Typically when they do this, you expect questions like "Do you know Jim Jimson, he's in the Air Force," or "what jets do you fly?" etc. Instead: Weird Dude: "Did you know your jets cause memory loss in children?" Us: "What?" Weird Dude: "Your low passes over the neighborhoods cause memory loss in children. My children look up at the jets and get a blank face for about 4 seconds (then proceeded to have a dumb blank look for four seconds to show us what he means)." I start laughing so hard I almost cry. …

I'm trying to switch from cable to Dish Network or Direct TV before football season. Both places want an 18-month or 2-year committment to get a decent deal. If I sign up for one of these, would I be able to cancel my service when I leave for OTS without paying a fee? I know there's something like this for renters, just wondering if the same applied here.

1. Since when was it called Joint Base Balad? Does this mean the AF runs it or the Army? Guessing AF, since it would probably be called JLSA Anaconda if the Army was in charge... 2. How the fvck did they get 5 53s in the air at the same time? Those must be the last 5 waiting to go to DM...

Anyone know of how to go about getting a 1000 hour and 2000 hour certificate from Locheed Martin? I know they exist and they come from someone at Locheed, but nobody here remembers or knows where to begin. Sure, I can find a 800 number out there somewhere, but if someone has some gouge on this process, I'd like to know about it. Cheers

Hi all. It has been a while since my last post of photographs and following a chat with Chris last night he was happy for me to share a few more images taken this year. 19 Squadron at RAF Valley, UK, were the first squadron to be equipped with the Spitfire for the Battle of Britain in 1938 and this year was the 70th aniversary of that historic event. After several months of negotiations with sponsors the squadron and I managed to get this Hawk painted in the original paint scheme of the Spitfire. I was fortunate to fly in formation with the Hawk and the Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight from RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire a…

New budget to be reveiled today - Im sure it will lead to some heated debate on here but here is some news Im sure many of us will find not too surprising... Defense Secretary Robert Gates unveiled a sweeping overhaul of the Pentagon's top weapons priorities that he said will orient the U.S. military toward winning unconventional conflicts like the one in Afghanistan rather than focusing on war with major powers. Among the major changes he is proposing includes ending production of Lockheed's F-22 Raptor at 187 jets. Gates said funding for another Lockheed program, the Joint Strike Fighter, will be increased in 2010 to $11.2 billion, which will now buy 30 jets, up f…

https://www.globenewswire.com/news.html?d=162962 The 50th anniversary of the first flight of the T-38 occurred earlier this month. Before any of you non-fighter dudes jump on this little statistic from the article, I'll go ugly early on it: Obviously this factoid neglects training under SUPT and everyone who has tracked to a TONE, UH-1, or T-44 since 1993.

If there was ever a left wing nutcase it's Al Franken. How anyone in their right mind could vote for him I have no idea, but of course Minnesota voters are about as weird as they come based on past results. I believe this guy is the dictionary definition of a total dick.

Just looking for some information on flying C-37s in Belgium. How big the unit is, how much flying, where most live near Chievres, etc. I might have an opportunity to go out there, but have never lived in Europe. I haven't heard too many people say they hated their time overseas in Europe, but just want to make sure the fam is happy there. Thanks! Techsan
