Whenever I try to quote someone, the page quotes that person and also pulls a random quote from the user pcola from somewhere else in the forums and adds it to the quote.

with the board upgrade, I can't tell where a quote to a previous post ends and the actual reply starts. Is there a setting somewhere that can be tweaked with? In the previous version, quotes were in a white block to differentiate from the response.

DFRESH, Any insight on what happened to the functionality to quote a single post multiple times with ease? i.e. you used to be able to hit "quote" on a dude's lengthy post, then intersperse your own comments by just using "[ quote ]" and "[ /quote ]" tags (minus the spaces). It enabled you to speak to many points made within one post in a coherent way. Am I just too dumb to figure out how to to do that in the new-look forums? Thanks again for all the work on the site, you are a great American!

Is there anyway to remove a 'Like' accidentally given to a post? I can remove the reputation point from the poster, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to remove the actual 'Like!' Cheers! M2

Went to do a search for PRK in the medical forum and received the following error message: Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information. The error returned was: One or all of your search keywords were below 4 characters or you searched for words which are not allowed, such as 'html', 'img', etc, please go back and increase the length of these search keywords or choose different keywords.

Any attempt to add a signature throws: [#10211] You may only use up to lines of text in your signature. I poked around (sts) the IPS peer to peer support forum, but didn't find this exact error. There was a similar error talked about there for images in the signature block that went back to a simple =0 or =1 or =-1 in a config file for like allowimages or something.... I've seen other people with signature blocks.... so I imagine it can't be a board wide issue unless they had their signatures in before an update and the update isn't allowing any changes. Anybody want to try changing their signature in the name of science?

It appears that the SSL certificate for the site expired last week.

After a few days where I could not login at all due to security warnings, for the last several weeks my browser prominently notes the site is "not secure" when I go on BODN. Digging a little deeper, google help tells me "Proceed with caution. Something is severely wrong with the privacy of this site’s connection." Using Chrome with automatic updates on a Macbook Air.

Anyone else?

As one of the moderators on here, we all do our best to remove any spam as soon as we can can. But I have to admit I had a spam-related chuckle this afternoon worth sharing... Some dope spammer posted a thread along the lines of "should I exercise or use diet pills" complete with links to the pills they were pushing. The post even had a person's name at the bottom, and included the "sorry if this is in the wrong forum" comment to try and make it look genuine. But as that poster just signed up here, had a grand total of 1 post, and there was no mention of the USAF or even the military, it was obviously spam. Maybe not as obvious as the porn spam we get, but pretty…

For some reasons the spammers are getting through again. I've deleted two Viagro threads in the past two days. I've been suspending their accounts for 1000 days, as I am not sure how or if I can delete them. If I can, could someone please instruct me how; otherwise 'scieshyInseno' needs to be deleted. Cheers! At some point over the past few weeks (maybe even months), for any Baseops page I open, the top tab continues to spin as if the page is still trying to load. The page is fully functional, but it's as if it's still trying to load up. It only happens with Baseops (forums and main pages), no other pages. It only happens with Mozilla (29.0), I'm using Windows 7. I've looked at the Mozilla FAQs and nothing seems to fit (it addresses the spinning, but only for websites that don't open or completely lock up).

All, Phone apps are a work in progress again. You may have intermittent or complete lack of connectivity for the foreseeable future. Recommend using your phone's browser until I get it resolved. Thanks!

I have cookies enabled, but every time I visit the forums, I have to log in again. Seems to be an issue with this board, as I didn't have any trouble with the previous board version, or on other message boards I frequent. It's not a big deal, but I figured I'd write it up in case there's a possible fix to it.

Did the advertising on these forms just get a whole lot worse for anybody else? It seems like I have to click through five pop ups and banners now just to navigate to the next topic. I'm not sure I can browse the forums much longer like this, but I wanted to make sure it's not just my phone

E-mail notifications for thread subscriptions no longer appear to be coming through. Doesn't appear to be related to spam folder settings (no BaseOps/FlyingSquadron emails showing up there in my Gmail). In case it helps, the last notification I received on my subscribed thread was on December 4th and there were new posts starting on December 6th which didn't seem to generate e-mail notifications. Issue replicated by @M2 in this thread.

If your e-mail address is wrong on your baseops profile, and you get a "private" message in our personal message system, the e-mail bounces back to our system and clogs up the e-mail system. It takes a lot of extra time to clean that up, plus I don't wanna see Matmacwc talk to Deaddebate about getting crabs from a hooker in bangkok. But on a serious note, there's no need to jam up the server with bounce-back emails, so when you get the chance, please check your e-mail address in your profile.
