1 – Keep it civil
If you don't have anything constructive to say, keep your mouth shut. Opinions are great, constructive criticism is encouraged, third grade retorts are right out. Threads that devolve into pissing contents will be locked. If your post starts to drag a thread in that direction, it will be removed. If you continue to instigate, you may face suspension of your posting abilities.
2 - Listen before you speak
A wise man once said, "You have two ears and one mouth, so you ought to listen twice as much as you talk."
Fighter squadrons have a rule that you can’t speak until you’ve had been there a year, and there's some wisdom to this; don't just show up here spouting your wisdom to dudes who are not only veterans to this board, but veterans to the Air Force. Hang out a while, read the posts, and be a fly on the wall. You'll see who's legit and who is generally clueless. This will prevent you from a severe case in foot-in-mouth-itis when you try to tell a combat proven pilot that he knows nothing while you sit at home waiting to see if your UPT package has been approved.
3 – UTFSF
Before you ask a dumb question, make sure it hasn’t been asked and answered – use the search function at the top right of each page.
4 - If it's been talked about before, keep it in the same thread.
After you follow Rule 3 but don't find exactly what you're looking for, revive one of the old threads instead of starting a brand new one. In other words, if you're trying to find information on housing at Del Rio and you find lots of old posts with Del Rio info, but nothing specifically answers your question - post your question at the end of one of those threads. This makes it easier for future searches so that 690 threads don't pop up when they try to search for "Del Rio Housing"
5 - Give it a subject line that makes sense
This seems anal, but there are several reasons. (1) If you have a nebulous subject like "Serious question" you're potentially not going to get answers from as many people as if your subject line was "Where to find Jeremiah Weed?" (2) It makes it easier for serious searches; the poor sap who types "SERE" into the search function will have a much easier time with specific subjects like "What do I bring to SERE?" vice just "SERE".
6 – No unpaid advertisements
Unpaid advertisements and promotion of outside websites are not allowed. Individual items are allowed to be sold in the “Market Place” forum within in accordance with the rules of that forum. For questions on paid advertising on this board, use the “Contact Us” link at the bottom of each page.

Anyone have an idea of when you are supposed to receive your follow-on assignment after getting class dates for being a boom? Is the process the same as doing your dream sheet and hoping you get what you want or is it the usual "military needs?" I already have class dates for BBOC EAUC SERE and Water Survival but no word on what airframe I will be on (is that something we find out during training and do you have a choice in the matter). I am also a retrainee (IFCS or GAC for short). Need any good or bad aspects please

Why does DOD continue to insist on starting operations 1 minute after midnight? Everything thing I see is 0001. Do we magically skip a minute every night and I have been missing this al along? So I ask the question and these are the answers I received. 1. 0000 is not a valid time. 2. 2400 is midnight not 0000. 3. The computer does not understand 0000 4. 0000 confuses people. Everyone, look at your digital watch. 1 second after 2359 and 59 seconds, the watch will read 0000 not 0001. Since we live in a post Y2K world, computers do understand 0000. Make the madness stop. Insist on using 0000.

Hi, Some of you will be aware that I am an aviation photographer here in the UK and can often be found up the mountainsides of the Mach Loop On 16th March 2009 I photographed 91-0306 & 316 @ Cad East and to date these are my best photographs. For record purposes I was wondering if anyone would be able to point me in the direction of getting the Callsigns for the aircraft on that day, or even make the aircrew aware that I have some great images from that trip. I have been in touch with Lakenheath directly but unfortunately they only hold this sort of information for a couple of years. Thanks in advance Alex

Saw a F-15E dude wearing a "100 Missions Afghanistan" patch (drawn up just like the Vietnam one) in the chow hall today. Maybe someone "in the know" can set me straight--is this a joke or is this dude really THAT proud of his 100 OEF missions--I didn't even know when I hit 100. Granted, it's not the easiest place to fly (especially during the winter) but seems like this dude holds himself in the same light as F-105 guys flying to route pack V. Maybe I'm missing something.

I had COVID a while back and was laid up for a few days doing nothing but watching TV. Knowing that we have threads on what music to listen to after a few drinks and flying videos I thought I would share another way to pass the time that should be educational for all you SNAPs out there. Not normally a baseball fan but the regionals were full of drama this year with the #1 and #2 schools both getting knocked out in the first round of Regionals. Also some drama with some of the Florida schools: 1. FSU made it to the Super Regionals but not without the star pitcher caught on film telling a Mississipp State layer to “Sit down… sit the FUCK DOWN. lil inbred bitch.” How nice. 2. My name is Vincent, I lived in Mayenne (France). I doing some research about all the american soldiers killed in Action to free my country during the World War II. I'm request your to help me in my resarch about the 2nd Lt. Montgomery A Coddington. He was a pilot of the 474th Figthing Group-428 Fighters Squadron-9th TAC. His plane serial number : 5864 was hit by the flack on the 7th june 1944 near Montsûrs in Mayenne. I would like to know more about this heroe, and why not find members of his family. Hi all, I'm headed to UPT in April, and want to buy my fiancée a new car to replace her 2004 Saturn Lemon as soon as it fits the budget.
