  2. According to news reports, "Dozens gathered to support Democratic lawmakers who fled the state to block the redistricting vote" https://www.yahoo.com/news/videos/protesters-rally-outside-texas-redistricting-031500792.html Out of a state with over 18M registered voters and a voting age population of 22.9M (as of 2024). According to L2 Data, a leading voter analytics firm, 8,133,683 are estimated to be Democrats (46.52%), and 6,601,189 Republican (37.75%) with another 2,750,830 unaffiliated (15.73%). https://ivn.us/posts/are-there-more-democrats-texas-republicans-2025-08-08 Texas is an open partisan primary state, which means citizens do not have to register voters by party affiliation. When voters go to the polls in the primary, they can freely choose between a Republican and a Democratic ballot. I am pretty sure the illegals bump up the Democrat votes! Texas has removed over 1.1M ineligible voters from its voter rolls since 2021!

  6. Can your wife use the right gas can and start a 2-cycle wacker on a cool day? It takes skill to get that choke just right.
  7. ATC: "BLUE STREAK 5342, go around immediately, collision warning." What the fuck is so hard about saying that?
  8. By this point you have to be a clown to believe that the news is accurate, especially when it deals with something as nuanced as Air Force separations. If they applied for Tera and were approved, then after the fact had their approval denied because of their transgenderism, that's bullshit. If they applied for Tera and were denied, and there is not currently a blanket approval process in place for Tera, then they are just what, angry they aren't getting the money? If they waited to apply for Tera until after they found out they were going to be separated due to their transgenderism, then I'm not sure what the issue here is. Tera is a voluntary program meant to incentivize people to leave of their own accord, correct? Waiting until the military decides you will no longer be serving not the intent of the program. Does anybody really believe that the news is going to get that right, or that the transgender people getting kicked out are going to fairly represent that in the media? Seems unlikely.
  9. So generally TERA has been an option for anyone 15+ YOS for any reason? What is the rate of app approval? I don’t know much about TERA obviously.
  10. 4000+ hours, at least 3,000 of them on NVGs and I never had vertigo. I think the bigger point on the CVR is it sounds like she was struggling and oversaturated. Missing that key call about RWY 33 is key and shame on ATC for a whole host of reasons.
  11. Your stats are great! I really can’t offer much advice, because it feels like a crapshoot based on my conversations with prior applicants (selects and non-selects). If it makes you feel any better, I’m sitting at a 99 pilot, 68 PCSM (no flying hours and currently deployed so I couldn’t do much about flying hours for this year), 3.4 GPA w/ a MBA. Chose not to pursue ENJJPT because of my lower PCSM and I have no desire to track fighters/bombers. Not sure what my Wing ranking was, but last I heard there were only a couple of applicants from my base, which is shocking because usually there’s 10+. Hopefully it’s a 100 slot year again! Sounds like USAFA Class of ‘26 was given about 110 more pilot slots than Class of ‘25, if there’s any correlation whatsoever.
  12. For God's sake, if I ever die in a crash, please destroy the damn CVR. Seriously. Almost everyone I know who’s flown with NVGs has experienced vertigo at some point. That kid never saw the RJ and unless I’m completely misreading the CVR transcript, they never even heard ATC clearing the RJ for 33. But sure, let’s go ahead and blame the poor kid who paid the ultimate price instead of the asshat who designed that procedure in the first place. I’m mad
  13. “We’re in a flat spin! Going out to sea!!”
  14. But does TX have protesters in the Capitol? I mean if you're gonna flee, at least try to one up WI in 2011. With protesters filling the Madison Capitol over collecting bargaining, a bunch of Dems fled the state. In the end, the law was passed.
  15. Such a stupid own goal for a minuscule amount of people.
  16. Holy crap that's competitive. Good luck man, sounds like if you can get past your unit's filters you're in a good spot with the board.
  17. 432d used to have a policy of if your pcsm score wasn't 80 or higher, you wouldn't be able to apply. The year I applied they didn't have that so it's always hit or miss depending on the year and wing CC.
  18. It depends on who you ask. It worked out well for a lot of people. Don't forget to blame all of the world's problems on something dead people did a few hundred years ago.
  19. I don't believe it was specifically offered to them...BUT DoD has had TERA ACTIVE since 2012...anyone could apply. Now at the 11th hour after changing the rules on these folks, they are pulling the rug out from under them. It just feels purposeful and punitive to me.
  20. So DoD did offer them all TERA, they signed the agreement, and then DoD said “nevermind?” That is BS if true.
  21. It's too bad the FRT doesn't work on more guns. Looks great! Edit: Just looked up the super safety. Looks like an FRT by a different mechanism. Crazy times!
  22. The shit show with Texas Democrats fleeing the state to block a controversial redistricting bill—House Bill 4—proposed by Republicans that aimed to redraw congressional districts mid-decade couldn't be more embarrassing, especially the support it gets from the liberals down here. The walkout was coordinated with national Democratic leaders. Governors from Illinois, New York, and California offered safe haven and political support. Democrats framed the move as a stand against what they called a “modern-day stagecoach heist” of voter rights. Governor Greg Abbott and other GOP leaders responded with threats of fines, arrest warrants and even removal from office. They also accused Democrats of stalling other critical legislation, including disaster relief for flood victims. The supreme assclown Beto O'Rourke's political organization, Powered by People, was the top financial backer of the quorum break. The group had a $3.5 million war chest and covered major expenses proving it was a planned event. They offered private air transport to Illinois, lodging and meals, logistical support and covered the daily fines of $500 per lawmaker for missing the special session. Abbott and other Republicans accused O’Rourke’s group of potentially violating state bribery laws, arguing that fines cannot be paid using political contributions. The Texas Attorney General launched an investigation into the legality of the fundraising. This wasn’t O’Rourke’s first time supporting a quorum break. In 2021, he helped fund a similar effort when Democrats fled to Washington, D.C., to block election law changes, raising $600,000 at the time. Texas Democrats tried the same tactic in 2003 after Republicans, having gained control of both chambers, pushed through a mid-decade redistricting to replace a court-drawn map. They did the same in 2021. Texas Democrats have supported redistricting when they controlled the process such as in 1990, often using it to their advantage. That effort was ultimately labeled as a “masterpiece of gerrymandering.” It helped Democrats maintain power despite growing Republican strength in the state. However, in the modern era, Texas Democrats have become vocal opponents of Republican-led redistricting, especially mid-decade efforts, which they argue are designed to entrench GOP power and suppress minority representation.
  23. Rt4 and glidepath to Rwy33 gave less than 100ft of vertical clearance. Allowing ATC to give that clearance was poor design. Actually clearing traffic on that section of Rt4 while landing airliners to 33 was a huge error on ATC, imo. The crew biting off on the wrong airliner for vis sep was the final nail. I think it's obvious the designer of the HRC was thinking about Rwy 01 ops vs 33.
  24. The DNC continues to be dominated by lunatics and with their grip on mainstream media, it spews out everyday on what used to be influential networks. Recently Dr Neil Degrasse Tyson was being interviewed on CBS about Trump's plan to build a moon base as part of continued space exploration. The interviewer had to find a way to say something negative about Trump and his policies so he tied a moon base to the evils of western colonization on earth. "We know how the age of colonialism worked on this planet," the host said. Degrasse Tyson who is a very liberal dude could not help but quip back - "Well, the — the real problem with the colonization history in Western civilization is that there were people already there," Tyson said. CBS host frets Trump admin plans for moon base could usher in new 'age of colonialism' in space
  25. These people are caught in the middle of a political fight. TERA was there and offered for ALL 15-18 years as a force shaping tool. DoD changed the policy on their service AND took TERA away, this punitive and we are better than this. I, like Biff I don't understand transgender and I tend to believe there is more disruption from their service than there is good. That being said, we don't have to rub salt in the wound as we push them out there door.
  26. Excuse me, excuse me. I'm just going to insert this right here... US Air Force to deny retirement pay to transgender service members being separated from the service https://federalnewsnetwork.com/air-force/2025/08/us-air-force-to-deny-retirement-pay-to-transgender-service-members-being-separated-from-the-service/ Didn't they RIF a lot of majors who were twice passed over with around the same amount of time of serving that was roughly 15-18 years?
