  1. Past hour
  2. If the Lt only wants to fly and doesn’t care about promotion, it's a good gig. Flying a hands-on aircraft for a few years then switching to another MWS (assuming they cancel the mission) doesn't sound too bad (once again if the Lt doesn't care about making rank).
  3. Today
  4. "Listen man, we're just going to run a few tests so that I can establish that you're safe to drive. It won't take too long, and you'll be on your way." Enter, the Drug Recognition Expert. Blow zero? Yeah, doesn't matter. For further Google fun, look up the 600+ sober DUI arrests in Tennessee. BREAK BREAK: Just to pull this discussion back on subject. On the side of the road, about the time when the cop starts with the small-talk questions (which are not small talk), I'm limiting my answers, and I will quickly establish that I don't consent to searches or roadside tests. On the jetbridge is another story. The rules of evidence are different, and I'm more concerned at that moment with my fitness to fly and further employment, in that proximal priority.
  5. I could understand the -135 since who wants to go to McConnnell? In the C-17 world Altus is the worst base for that community, flying wise. They have Hickman, Charleston, McChord, Travis, Elmendorf, McGuire, Dover, etc.
  6. If a cop is asking you to do FST, he already thinks you’re going to fail. He’s just looking for more proof.
  7. Because you are already committed to a ton of ass pain/time lost once a cop asks you to perform FST/breathalizer. Ever hear of them letting someone off when they pass? They already think you’re under an influence so any engagement at all will only serve to increase their SA collection from which they will subjectively select more items to justify the conclusion they’ve already reached. So you now have several hours of dick pain in front of you. Accept that, and position yourself for maximum advantage by demanding blood draw. You cannot win FST or Breathalizer. Cops are trained to tell you lies and it’s legal: “hey just blow in this for me and we’ll have you on your way” or “you seem fine to me but our new policy is everyone does a few FST items just to be sure we’re all safe, it’s just policy & it’ll be quick.” Nope, fights on, maneuver accordingly. Speak the absolute minimum required, stay in your circle, tell them blood draw if detained on suspicion of DUI. Regardless of your sobriety, you are in danger.
  8. Serious question - why if you know you’re sober (zero drinks that day)? Aren’t you going to buy yourself a ton of asspain/time lost for no reason?
  9. And that right there is always the best answer in those kinds of scenarios. We are no longer a functional crew. It's either him/her/xe or me.
  10. My girlfriends parents in 77 saying Boulder is hipster but not worried about it. They're harmless.
  11. Refuse the FST and the breath, even if your'e stone cold sober. Every lawyer will tell you that.

  14. Never volunteer for anything like that. If you're not absolutely required to take the breathalyzer, don't do it. If a cop tells you it'll go better for you if you step out of the car and do a quick sobriety test, don't do it. Way to many chances for a bad instrument in the breathalyzer and if a cop ask you do to a field sobriety test, it's because he already thinks you're drunk. Then he's going to be the judge of if you are drunk while giving you tests that the vast majority of the population will fail every time. And if I take a required breathalyzer and it fails, I'm going to instantly, constantly, and loudly demand a blood draw.
  15. So you can still buy high capacity magazines, an AR-15 without the 'safety course', and prevent your kid from 'transitioning' in Douglas County?

  17. Willing to bet they’ll find their ops unit after they finish initial qual. We started doing the same thing at Kirtland. We did it because practically nobody wants to go to Cannon, so students were shying away from those drops. No idea if it’s a similar thought process, or it some staff Bob decided it would somehow promote synergistic effects in a perfect world.
  18. I would too if it was fully fielded MWS and working! About the working-MWS part, typically PA and gaggle would be all over an IOC and FOC publically making an announcement (watch out for it in the future, they just cannot resist, case in point. It might be cool then, till then seems it's not ready to kick-a...haven't seen the IOC/FOC PA gaggle. Probably 'accelerating' past only-TPS grads/OT-pilots hands into pre-pre-IOC at FTU. Seems an unsmart accelera'juon past reason based upon publicly released info. Also, why is the buy cut in half, again, for a second year in a row? https://www.airandspaceforces.com/socom-oa-1k-armed-overwatch-cut-2026/
  19. Yesterday
  20. He did! I met him! great to see you, and Huggy too!
  21. I guess it’s all perspective based then. My entire family (both sides) settled in DC in the late 1800s. All of my aunts and uncles, and my parents, left there in the last 30 years. As did 27/29 cousins. It is nothing like it used to be… Sent from my iPad using Baseops Network mobile app
  22. That largely depends on where you live in CO. Douglas County is still alive and well.
  23. Did the general public know of the affairs during those two presidencies, no. Their indiscretions were well known in the media, especially Kennedy, and they were not held to a "higher moral standard." All three presidents were still greatly admired after their affairs became public knowledge. If you don't like the president example (because all three are Democrats I suppose) then let's use MLK. If the public is going to hold someone to a higher morale standard, it's going to be a preacher. However, no one cares he was an adulterer. Back to the original point, the American public doesn't hold someone to a higher bar due to their office/position. All you need to be is popular with a significant portion of the population and any transgressions can easily be forgotten. Speaking of forgotten...the "mentally impaired" portion of my previous quote is the major issue I have with octogenarians being in office...
  24. How are studs getting Altus -135 and -17 drops when the only thing there are the FTUs?
  25. I'd have a quarter chub the entire time I flew, if that was my MWS.
  26. Awesome!!!
