  6. Read up young Padawan... Google is your friend. https://www.airforce.com/careers/detail/pilot?gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=Cj0KCQjwrpLoBRD_ARIsAJd0BIX2lifOeozi3FzMQ1yMsQzp6O6Ilj7-LLJ_ocM61PrqWaIuvhfHchMaAlrtEALw_wcB Further, I'd recommend brushing up on your written communication skills. Asking for career advice while sounding like a middle school student texting their friends makes you look poorly prepared and not serious.

  8. This about covers it: “Job dissatisfaction, career dissatisfaction, frequent and long deployments, poor quality of life, non-competitive pay and lack of personal and professional development are among the reasons cited for why many experienced military pilots separate from military service,” the DoD study states. Pilots aren’t happy in the military and the packages the Air Force has to offer aren’t cutting it.” Pretty simple yet not much is being done.

  14. You must not be a hawg driver, because I’ve never seen a hawg driver act like the ass you are condoning. Selectively raising your voice to get your point across on certain occasions can be effective, but that is different than habitual “yelling,” which if you’ve spent any time around other Services you’d know is not extremely common. It’s also just as effective in other Services (I.e. not). It really just makes you look like an ass and frankly it’s a failure to adult. People don’t like talking to asses. That’s why they call it toxic. It’s not good for the mission if people don’t want to communicate with their leaders because they are asses. If you were a pilot you’d know that being an ass doesn’t work well in a plane, in combat, or anywhere else for that matter. Training can tolerate some selective yelling because inducing a stress response can be beneficial when you want to help a person learn. Even in combat, a well-placed intentional yell may bring someone back to where they need to be. However, people can usually tell the difference between someone yelling to help them or the situation versus someone yelling because they’re a power-tripping overcompensating toxic ass.

  15. What freaking squadron are you in where people run around yelling? It serves no purpose at all. I didn't need to yell in order to get a back ender to stop driving his motorcycle like Maverick from Top Gun. I made him cry using a little emotional intelligence and didn't raise my voice once. I have seen military members who yell in a training environment, then they think they can puff out their chest and do the same with civilians. The civilians won't lift a finger for that individual or their organization. My squadron had this exact problem until I rolled in. If you have to use your rank or big mouth to lead, I need you to sit down and STFU. My approach has worked wonders inside the squadron and with organizations outside the squadron like CONS and CE.

  16. What if we started treating those emails like scammers or those lottery winner emails? You should respond to the emails and toy with AFPC emotions. I'll sign if you make it say...$40K. Ultimate troll.

  19. I signed a 2 year bonus in 2017. They offered me a second bonus this year. I decided to PCS one more time and signed a 3 year deal. I was planning on being a free agent, but that would be dumb if I don't take take the money.

  20. Had a young captain ask me about signing a 9 year bonus. I told him I wouldn't sign a 9 year bonus because the needs, wants, and desires of your family may change. You don't want to be trapped. He probably signed up for 9 more years. Same guy who decided to pay for lap dances by using his GPC to get cash from the gentleman's club ATM. He thought the wife wouldn't find out. She found out because he can never go TDY. He had just gotten married!

  21. I think that was in 2017. I signed up for a 2 year bonus that year. It felt good almost being a free agent this year.

  22. I have a question for you. You think my life revolves around BODN and what you all have to say or think? Are we in high school or something? I'm not a millennial and your comments don't make me want my own safe space. Social media comments and those made in this forum by people I don't know at all do not matter to me. Nobody really cares at the end of the day about BODN. Site has fallen off since my pilot training days and never recovered.

  23. Kill them with kindness. Just counseled a SNCO picked up for OTS. She got into it with a SFS NCO at the visitor center. An A1C had to break them up. I told the SNCO, how would you like working a shift having to deal with parents, trainees, enlisted, and officers for 12 hours? Put yourself in their shoes. Even if the other person was in the wrong, walk away. Don't let the situation escalate. They detained her butt. My boss told me the Gp/CC wants to be told about things in the blotter like this scenario. I was like WTF? Dude is a micromanager. Got it.

  25. What @$$ clowns down votes a kid asking questions? BODN didn't used to be this way. This is why it has fallen off the pilot map and become almost irrelevant. This place used to play a solid role. Now you have old guys just pissing on wannabe studs or the newbies.
