Foreshadow much?  I heard Horner has offered Latifi a lifetime supply of Red Bull.

Not exactly F1 but still fun to make fun of Ferrari.

Congrats to Verstappen; a boring drive caused by a really good performance. Well done to Hamilton with the comeback.   Russell is lucky he didn't get his ass handed to him literally.  I

Driver61 actually read the FIA rules, and similar to aviation, it turns out that the race director can waive rules if he thinks it is in the best interest of racing.  There is also a policy which discourages finishing races behind the safety car.

It's subjective but...pinning a fresh set of soft reds against a set of ancient whites for a lap, I don't know if I'd consider that in the best interest of racing. The second those tires went on everyone knew how the race was going to end if those cars were moved. F1 is just too dominated by strategy to start modifying the playbook at the finale. I guess if fans want anarchy for entertainment making it up as you go works. As a fan i found it to be a disappointing climax to the season, and I couldn't careless whether it was Merc or RB that came out on top. The integrity of competition should be the priority.

Maybe they should have a provision where if a safety car comes out with less than 5 laps to go, all cars must pit, which would get rid of the stupid tire hocus pocus.

And just like the FAA/aviation....there's some really dumb decisions/policies that get made. Remember, this is the series that gave us the spectacular 2021 Belgian Grand Prix. What a joke.

This article is great.  Especially the quote from Masi in 2020 about how unlapping and ending a safety car period is supposed to happen.

BL - the inconsistency of adjudication across races this year, and even across seasons, has not been good.  Masi needs to be shown the door.

Holy crap, does Lewis' p*ssy hurt.  Merc win the constructors championship, then Lewis hops over to the Palace where he is knighted, and then we learn his participation next year is in doubt because his p*ssy hurts.  Okay Lewis, you only won seven in a row, our p*ssies hurt too.

Really digging the new cars & some of the rather stark differences between them. It’s going to be an interesting season & I think could see a lot of good competition. I’m guessing the disparity between the designs will mean certain cars will be better suited to certain circuits which should mix things up a bit.

I like this guy’s channel for simple explanations & some interesting racing history:

Watched the newest season (4) of "Drive to Survive" on Netflix yesterday.

Decent, but seemed to lack from previous seasons.  Maybe just too used to premise now.

Same editing to dramatized personal rivalries/team dynamics, etc.

But I still think Horner is an ass.  Even without the series.

First race is next weekend.  I'm interested to see the new regulation cars perform.

Yes!  And also to discover how much Merc/AMG is sandbagging.

+1 on him being ass. Not opposed to more Ginger tho.

Watched the two practice rounds today to check out the new regulation cars.

Verdict:  hideously ugly.

I do like the 18" wheels/tires, but the shapes of the cars despite the variations in sidepods, are just not pleasing to the eye.  From the arrowhead front wing to the whale-tail rear wing, these are ugly cars.  I hope they allow for better racing.  If not, they gotta go.

Great to see Magnusson back in for Haas and Hulkenberg subbing for Vettel.  That must've been an interesting first drive for him today after arriving after midnight last night.

Excellent race today. Won’t spoil too much for those who haven’t seen it yet, but there will be some behind the scenes fireworks at Redbull & go Haas! Also, the prettiest cars got the best results.

An actual active, place changing race across the board, finally.

I think a software bug took out two cars on the last two laps.

I was going to say the same thing.  "They were hacked by Merc (with Hunter's laptop), we need an investigation!"

Watching the practices today for the upcoming Saudi race.

Those cars are still ugly and their girth and weight make 'em look like hippos on ice.

I think I’m in the minority here. I love the new cars. Wheels look like steely’s on a winter rally car, and the upgrade in tire size gives them an aggressive profile. The wing is meh. Merc really needs to get their aero/suspension tuned if they want to compete. Drivers are having their brains absolutely rattled with that porpoise.

I also think this year's cars are cool as hell. Haters gonna hate.

But what's COOLER? Lewis getting knocked out in Q1. The weekend is already a success.

Just picturing Jeremy Clarkson in a Lotus dodging a Brit Apache.

Why so?

Overall, I thought it a good race up and down the list.

Those pigs simply will not turn under braking.  Catching a few people out.

Repeat of race 1 with the DRS battle, except the yellow killed the flow. I know its racing…but Checo deserved the W.

Agree Checo got hosed, but he’s not the first or the last to get screwed by a safety car. Unfortunately for him, the virtual safety car right after his pit happened at the worst possible time. His luck just couldn’t have been worse. But he’s a great driver in arguably the best car on the grid. He should have some more chances at the W this season.
