lloyd christmas Posted Friday at 02:29 PM Posted Friday at 02:29 PM These people are absolutely socialist to their core. If they didn’t throw “democratic” in front of socialist they wouldn’t have a chance of getting elected.
brabus Posted Friday at 03:50 PM Posted Friday at 03:50 PM (edited) The only applicability of “democratic” in that sense is they were all stupid enough to vote for it via a democratic process, and ironically that currently valid democratic process would soon disappear entirely if their ill-informed plan actually played out fully. bfargin Posted Saturday at 08:51 PM Posted Saturday at 08:51 PM I’m for anything that slows the passing of more laws (filibuster included). Slow and steady can be frustrating at times, but it’s better than thoughtless reactions. The Senate was originally supposed to be the wise and thoughtful chamber that moved slowly and purposely to prevent knee jerk reactions and minimize second and third order negative consequences. That’s def not the case now and removing the filibuster will make it even worse. 1
HeloDude Posted Saturday at 09:49 PM Posted Saturday at 09:49 PM Every now then (though it seems to happen more often over the last several years), the left says the quiet part out loud. 1
bfargin Posted Saturday at 10:24 PM Posted Saturday at 10:24 PM I’m in shock that beached whales care about their eyebrows. Shouldn’t they be working on heart healthy diets and not worrying about lipstick on a sow.
disgruntledemployee Posted Saturday at 10:26 PM Author Posted Saturday at 10:26 PM Well, I guess if you have to spend your cash on food vs spa treatments, sure.
disgruntledemployee Posted yesterday at 05:18 PM Author Posted yesterday at 05:18 PM Well, he didn't charge $13 for a shitty Bud, the vendor hired to do the event did. See, Mamdani isn't a commie, he hired Capitolists to work his party. That tweeter should be happy and buy a round supporting the vendor.
disgruntledemployee Posted yesterday at 05:27 PM Author Posted yesterday at 05:27 PM Newsome's troll game is getting entertaining. But hey, he learned from the OG poli-troller. Orange hair would have been better. PS, more appropriately, it's their staffs making this stuff.

So he can’t influence vendors to charge less for a beer at the dude’s own event…but…come Jan 1st he’ll be able to influence property owners to reduce/stop increases when it comes to charging rent. 2 1

About 50% of NYC apartments are rent stabilized or controlled. And the mayor appoints all 9 members of rent guidelines board. So yes, he will have significant power to drive the supply side further into the shitter.

My post was regarding Mandami freezing rent, which was part of his campaign (also thought I saw a video of him calling the city to lower rent?). Currently less than 1% have rent controls, and as you correctly stated, less than 50% are rent stabilized, which yet still allows rent to be increased year after year. But I agree with you that this will be a disaster.

Won't matter soon, free/cheap beer at all those soon to be city owned/run grocery stores. 1

Prosuper Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago For all the history nerds here, I watched the Netflix movie Death by Lightning, the assassination of James Garfield. The first installment is how party politics was in the GOP convention. I recommend it.

ClearedHot Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Now that the Democrats capitulated they are devouring themselves. 40 days of chaos for absolutely NOTHING...you guys must be so proud. They are calling for Schumer's head and resignation.
