July 19, 201312 yr Author Came across this of a Lufthansa A380 doing a landing at SFO, its long but it shows the complete automation of the landing. https://www.wimp.com/approachlanding/ So, if a guy hand flying the approach is "complete automation, what do you consider "hand flying?" Does that mean the guy is getting out of the seat, climbing out onto the wing and manipulating the flight controls by hand?
July 19, 201312 yr Well sitting the jump seat on many 707/135, B-52 landings that looked effortless compared to the stick inputs on approach on a old Boeing. July 22, 201312 yr Got this the other day. Interesting read, although I find myself wondering why anyone would retire as a UAL 747 captain then take another job. Already been posted twice before in this thread, Bergman.
