Not a rumor, happened a couple months ago. Some of your details are wrong, the crew (included said OG/CC) elected to continue the mission after the strike. When they got back to HRT they discovered the damage was far more extensive than previously thought. From what I understand (not 100 percent on this part), the WG/CC Q3'd the OG/CC, not the OG/CC giving out Q3s to the crew. Understandable on the confusion due to the fact that said OG/CC gave over 25 commander directed Q3's during his time as a SQ/CC.

Sad, but not really suprising. In today's day, it doesn't seem like any politician has any shame if there's some political gain involved. There's a flag in a compound in Bagram that isn't at half staff right now (hopefully) and thats the one I'm really concerned about, cause that means that none of the guys I support are going home in a box today.

Not where they live it won't, chiefs don't exist in those parts, too dangerous for their health. Even at the main bases Chiefs know better than to pull that shit with those guys, they'll get asked to leave the living area politely, one time.

Great section about him and his exploits in the book SOG: The Secret Wars of America's Commandos in Vietnam by John L. Plaster. Its an excellent book overall, the section about Howard reads like something out of a Hollywood movie. Howard was nominated for the MoH 3 times inside of 13 months, the says that most of the men who served with him felt he deserved all three. Pretty humbling stuff.

My link We opened up Sendai yesterday. Field is an absolute wreck, they've got about 4200ft available but STS is working to clear more. They've got a big pile of cars, vans, and mud bulldozed into a pile about 5000ft down the runway. I'll post some pics I took when I get the chance.

Just got back from an exercise where, on the board in the mayors tent right alongside the MOPP and FPCON level, they had posted a reflectivecon level, I shit you not. I almost fell over when I saw that, thought my command didn't generally adhere to that kind of gayness. Pretty sad really.

Second T-38 was a bird strike during a LL, sometime end of '06 beginning of '07, both guys got out. The two T-6's were a mid-air over the aux field pattern entry, happened either Nov or Dec 2007, all four guys got out.

The whole process, as the AF runs it, is horseshit, regardless of the with valor or without. Some army/marine PFC gets a BSM for pulling his buddy out of a burning HUMVEE under fire with shrapnel lodged in his back; some shoe clerk O-5/6 f%&k puts himself in for one after 4 months of "managing and directing" assets inside the wire at Balad. Its disgusting and it cheapens the value of the people who actually earned the medals the hard way.
