2nd to the above. Learning the contract and work rules is kind of a job in and of itself for the first 2-3 months, but good to accomplished on reserve or at cruise as applicable. Learning the shenanigans crew scheduling may try to pull from the regional guys, running things past the captains, or by experience is like any other threat. Avoid and suppress, then funnel up to union rep.

In the future I might buy that, and agree we should pursue aggressively because in the present my LNAV/VNAV system still pushes the throttles up as it simultaneously tells me drag is required to meet the next altitude/airspeed in the descent. And predator based systems still turn the illogical direction given the choice…but that’s probably just one GA software engineer from the 90s still screwing the AF. P.S. George if you just don’t add power you’ll be on path and it will be fine.

There may be a spectrum of autonomy where that capability could exist, but have you seen our current level of demonstrated autonomy in action, whether military drones or like full on commercial airline autopilots? Leaves a LOT to be desired.

This is a great summary, and second how boring 121 flying is but it is easy work overall. Until you get the captain that wants to pontificate on how the passengers prefer when you use the archaic autopilot methods for comfort blah blah blah yeah, Jim…they don’t care.

Probably took us a while to figure out ~500 reps is a ton. Doubt the founders quite imagined the scale of 300M people to represent, to be quite honest. Quite the derail, but you keep on that Apportionment Crusade, bud. The PYB Thread for Constitutional Scholars is a few clicks over, though.

For reference, it’s hard enough to get UTAPS to work (who the still uses IE11?!) to get paid for normal IDTs and get your orders cut by your Det and paid for AT…but if you figure this out, good on you. -
They definitely meant for the more populous areas to not run roughshod over the less populous. That was literally the idea.

Well hopefully should it be attempted, with someone casting the DECIDING vote on appointing themselves for a lifetime on the nation’s highest court…there would be a challenge. Anyone worthy of actually being on that bench would recuse themselves from that vote. Also, who the brought up constitutionality? I said she shouldn’t be allowed.
