  1. Don't be silly. Dads don't need to bond with their babies.
  2. Can you attach a zip file? (I can't tell on my iPad if you can.) If you can, zip it and attach that.
  3. DSG = Drill Status Guardsman = traditional part timer.
  4. Flew with one of our ANG 0-6 types last week. He said recent conferences appear to point towards a move like you describe. Fighters on the coasts with RPAs, airlift, and tankers scattered throughout.
  5. A NJANG pilot told me this weekend they have a hard time finding guys because nobody wants to live in Atlantic City. Convince them you'll move up there and maybe that'll help your chances.
  6. Nevermind - next answer is mo betta. Good luck at the interview.
  7. Anybody ever use this? https://smartdocs.dfas.mil/voucher/ Just saw it on myPay - maybe it'll do what you need.
  8. Can't do it quite that early.
  9. They can't make you extend your ADSC. No telling what they'll do with you in the meantime though. Might leave you in place, might PCS you sans a new ADSC.
  10. WWII tribute flyover in May over DC. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/pilots-prepare-for-historic-wwii-flyover-of-mall/article/2563250
  11. 1c overrides 1b, like Motofalcon found out above. The reg could have been written better by a 6th grader, but I don't think you have much leg to stand on unfortunately. Seems like you have a couple options. Take the T-6. You might even like it. Refuse the ADSC and see what they do. Probably won't be anything appealing. Try to swap it for a T-1 or T-38, whichever you flew, so you're not going to a "new" airframe. (Hopefully you weren't a T-44 guy.) Good luck.

Then you can get your BBQ 1911 and a rhinestone holster.

Depends what they'll let you do. A tarp under your station works decently well.
  14. Paul Bertorelli being a smart ass.
  15. I don't get it. I know what the A-10 does, and I know vaguely what CAP does... the two don't seem related beyond involving airplanes.
  16. Depends. I'm doing it. Lots of others do, too. I don't plan to do it for years, but many do and even get an active retirement doing it. My opinion: If you can be happy driving a 10 year old truck, eating at home more than out, and not paying hundreds a month for gyms, HBO, and pedicures, then you'll be ok.
  17. Gives maintenance time to work, technicians often work different schedules (i.e. 4x10) and take Monday or Friday off, etc. Varies by unit - not meant to be a broad brush statement.
  18. Yes, there's local flying. Usually 1-4 locals/day. Maybe nothing on Monday or Friday, and maybe less if your tails are deployed or on trips. Either way, you'll need to fly a good bit to get all your currencies done. We have more beans than some (all?) other heavies. It's work to keep current and mission ready, especially if you're new (and therefore have more requirements) and non-airline. Only you know how much you can do without causing issues with your civ employer.
  19. I don't have CAC access for a few days to check for you, but look on the portal for "books24x7". It's somewhere in that learning section of the portal. I think that database has it. Amazon has it for Kindle (or the app) for $38. I just passed my PMP last weekend without the actual PMBOK. However, I don't think the Syracuse/Skillsoft coursework would have been enough to pass. I googled and took every practice test I could find. I found those very helpful. I also recommend at least browsing an ITTO graphic/spreadsheet. Don't memorize it, but look for patterns where they exist. More than a few questions will be answered by that ITTO chart.
  20. I think you overestimate basic financial education and properly-placed values among Americans. Members of my own extended family spend $300 on a hockey jersey, yet have 0 savings or investments. Comes down to values, and values are hard to change in adulthood.
  21. I can't give you much help, but I can tell you our EFBs are in a stand-alone network. They're not part of the base or .mil network at all. We have a short range wireless router in the flight planning room that we use to sync our docs via Goodreader. Works good lasts long time. Trying to get them onto the CAC-controlled network sounds like an enormous pain.

    Tax info

Mine's vanished, too. It was there a couple days ago, but it's gone now. Ironically my Travel W2s are there a week early.
  23. They might figure it out whether you mention it or not. Just maybe.
