Not going to UPT...will I get kicked out?
It's the easy way out. Instead of the Air Force taking that officer and placing him in another career field where there may or may not be extra room to absorb another new guy, they just kick them out of the Air Force and bill them for the education. And people wonder why there are less and less applicants for pilot slots these days. Cadets are afraid to fail because failure means losing their career before it begins and taking on a massive amount of debt.

Gen Welsh - USAF Chief of Staff
Leadership never owes an explanation to anyone under them, but it sure helps grease the gears if everyone knows "why" a change is happening instead of just telling everyone to do it.

Tuition Assistance Cuts
The master's degree requirement is a crock of shit. If master's degrees actually made us better leaders and increased our effectiveness as officers and whatever your primary job is, then it should naturally show up in your performance reports.

- New Algorithm for PCSM / AFOQT
They need to increase the percentage points that the PCSM score counts for in the overall OM score.- Why Can’t the U.S. Military Grow Better Leaders?
I'll buy that.- Why Can’t the U.S. Military Grow Better Leaders?
I don't think most people originally signed up for the job for those reason. There are a hell of a lot of hoops to jump through just to get wings on your chest. I think most people join for the right reasons, but quickly become jaded by the never ending, mindless queep and broken promotion system. A lot of guys stay in these days because there aren't many places to go outside the military. So we find ways to cope with the grind and put up with just enough bullshit to get by. It seems like it's just too damn much work to try and change the system,. but has anyone here ever tried? Are there any guys on this board in a leadership position that care to chime in?- More SARC briefings soon.
Excellence in all we do, right? Some bosses only care to hear that all is well. Thankfully they aren't all like that though. Some are man enough to face problems head on.- Good military/aviation books
I just finished a couple books: When Thunder Rolled by Ed Rasimus - Great book. To the Limited: An Air Cav Huey Pilot in Vietnam by Tom A. Johnson - Even better than Ed's book! Some amazing stories. My Secret War by Richard S. Drury - This should be mandatory reading for every Air Force officer. I would say it should be req'd reading at PME, but they'd probably suck the life out of it and twist it's meeting around to their twisted agenda.- Burma Spitfires
Hopefully the unearthing of these Spits doesn't turn out like this 1957 Plymouth buried as a time capsule and reopened in 2007. https://www.allpar.com/history/auto-shows/time-capsule.html- Rumor - ORIs Ending?
- Taxes, the Deficit/Debt, and the Fiscal Cliff
The whole point of the debt ceiling is to show us just how much we're spending. Every time we raise it, it's a reminder that our spending is out of control. The US is like a fat person trying to lose weight by eating less, so we use a smaller plate to limit how much food we can eat (the debt ceiling). Only now, we finished everything on our plate and want more. Obama solution is to just make the plate bigger. joe1234's solution is to get a bigger plate (raise the debt ceiling) and pile more food on the plate even higher than before (raise taxes). Neither solution involves eating less (the Republicans' answer). We can't keep eating so much. Eventually, we're just going to barf it all up, shit all over the place, or (more likely) both at the same time. Has this dumbed it down enough for you joe1234?- Military docs sound off
