  1. Keep the receiver unless you don't like it, and just get a pair of quality floor/bookshelf speakers. Don't really need a sub if you got decent woofers. Just ask my neighbors. If you want to impress your friends with $$$$, just get a set of the revitalized JBL L100. About $2K each. If you want vintage, a great source is goodwill.com as they auction off all the best donated stuff. I got a 2nd Sony receiver for the garage for under $25. Some get speakers off there as the crossovers are great and refurb them with replacement speakers.
  2. Most recent UAL vacancy had something like 1100+ unfilled FO and about 90 unfilled Capt spots (coasts). Hiring is a booming. So, don't sweat the hrs too much. Make a one-pager with the hours and any caveats like 1.3 hrs/sortie (for those that ask for it). And be able to explain it. Something like, "The AF does a good job of keeping track of the hours and we do a review together every year. Blah Blah Blah. This one page history consolidates all those hours into an easy to read format."
  3. Kenosha is my home town and I know it well. BLM and etc jumped in to make a scene and others joined the fray and created chaos. Burn it down, they said. The asshole gov Evers, that piece of "gotta please the BLMers" shit, refused to send state help like the National Guard. So the people said screw that, I'm not letting them burn down my town and responded, and brought guns. And people are upset on a self defense verdict? That kid should have stayed home. Rosenbaum was looking for a fight and picked on a kid he thought was vulnerable, because that's what he's done most of his life, molest little boys. If Rittenhouse wasn't there, it probably have been someone else, the next youngest and vulnerable looking kid. And we would be reading about some other trial of someone that defended themselves against Rosenbaum. Skateboarder Huber should have summoned the police instead of attacking. Side note and I've mentioned it before, is that many of the businesses that were looted and burned, are owned by non-white people and serve poorer neighborhoods. Like this one below. Some rioters tried to loot a deli/convenience store near my grandparents house. The citizens heard it, and came out shouting. They scattered and the store survived with some door damage.
  4. I had to go thru at least 6 news links before I found the name, but no pic. Look up the name, and finally got the mugshot. It's fucked up how much the medias hides certain details or pushes something hard. Out
  5. Danger41 says this was deployed. SEFE dude is sandbagging, in his opinion. And based on the story shared, I agree; Wx above legal mins and solid alternate. All the facts and excuses aside, I would remove the crew, that was assigned to perform a tasked mission in support of combat operations, and call in the Bravo crew. I would then put that sandbagging crew on duty desk for the next umpteen days to weeks. We need crews that can perform ATO, ORM'd missions. That crew would likely have a sitdown with themselves and express some feelings to each other. Also, the other crews picking up the slack would eventually know. Would they side with the AC or tell them to sack up and do their job? I've seen similar and problem crews got the jist. I've also seen a SEFE do stupid downgrades and been told that they keep that shit up, they won't be doing the job anymore. That is all, out.
  6. I don't. Zero reservation. It's guys/gals like us that bring perspective to their other roles, this case, Congress. It's the very definition of representative govt. it can make for some interesting crossovers too, like C17 AC and slum lord, or Chief of Training and Only Fans lady.
  7. One. It goes out the hull to rain piss on France.
  8. It was an ADSC for me and I signed up day 1 that the transfer benefit was offered. The deal then was if you had less that 4 years to 20, the ADSC was prorated to 20 yrs of active service. But it was all online, automated, and all laid out. OP, it's an ADSC. You signed, they give you a benefit. If you file for retirement, you may get to, but probably not with the benefit. PS, I used the transfer benefits for 3x dependants and all will walk away with 0, zero, no, college debt. That's priceless. When they live at home, the housing allowance easily covers tuition for another.
  9. When history books will include your name on this topic, maybe directing the record is in the interests of your family name and rep. Assholes. How we got here is part of the story, but I will not forgive the fucking ineptitude of the exit. Zero excuses allowed, less that zero accountability observed. Fucking out
  10. Also, in the warmer months in FL, there is always WX, EDTs, etc. Ops should always understand and anticipate those kinda delays. No other airline meltdown last week.
  11. The SWA schedule problems are due to the Chinese trying to take over Taiwan. Or is it because gas prices went up 1% which caused crews to go bankrupt at the pump. or space noise interfered with ph calls to skeds, or rising ocean levels caused more thunderstorms in Orlando and FAA Controllers at Jax didn't show cause the moon didn't align properly with Saturn. My special interests are X, and I will make any event in the world line up up with my interests. To my SWA buddy's out there, taxi fast, fly faster, and make bank on the ineptitude of ops.
  12. If only there was a huge facility being built in the US that had different initial plans (LCDs) that could be redirected towards chip production. I introduce you the the Foxconn factory in SE Wisconsin, which isn't doing much yet. Initially slated to build LCDs, the infrastructure buildouts should enabled it to build pretty much anything high tech. In the USA.
  13. Allow myself to quote myself. It was in response to "how come people test positive after getting the shot" mongering.
  14. You think 'Rona is just gonna sit still and get killed? Nature fights back. Some call it evolution.
  15. Until the top takes responsibility and takes it off the crews hands, this is probable... and even then. How some of these CCs/Gens are still in charge is beyond me. I've seen Sq/CCs fired for waaaaayyyy less. Navy COs that hit another ship, fired. But these guys??!!!?!!
  16. Man, what a flashback. I was introduced to Dr Hook as a kid as their greatest hits record was one my Ma would play frequently. She played everything from Uriah Heep to Eddie Rabbit to MJ's Thriller. Thanks Ma!
  17. Nah. The "What else don't they know about it?" is not an argument, it feels more like an assumption generator that's feeding into a mass hysteria. Here's an argument. Covid can kill. Facts. 1. Lots of people that got covid died. Prove me wrong. See, that's an argument. And you did it as well, just tossed out some talking points on effects to reproductive health, something about lies, coercion, and missing data. If this is 1st hand, I hope your cycle returns to normal soon. If it's from a study of 10K women in Israel, cite your work. Next, what data is missing? Let us know and maybe someone can find it for you. Pfizer is no longer experimental, and wasn't experimental when shots were approved under Emergency Use. The experiment parts were the 40K+ people taking shots during the phase trials. Now if you feel apprehension for taking a new vaccine because there's a pandemic and wondering how they made it so quickly and so on, talk to a doc. Lastly, I did my research and got the shot, specifically choosing Pfizer/BioNTech as they were the pioneers of mRNA R&D. I got my armor and feel I should be able to go about as I please.
  18. A few years back, I had a 60yo in the jumpseat, commuting to training at a regional. While she had hours flying in her youthier days, this was her 1st Part 121 job. Hired at 60! So, two years to go, start now. Private thru Instrument, CFI by retirement is very doable time wise. Then what DirkD said...
  19. Well, I think that when we receive an immunization, it only works once the bug is inside our body. That means we got to be infected. Now that vax should have taught our system to mount an assault based on enemy recce, building of offensive forces, and deployment into battle. So, for your fighting forces to work, you gotta get infected, you gotta get invaded. When you take that test, "Was I Invaded?" it will say yep, you got it. Will you have symptoms, yes, you're infected. Will they kill you, chances are much more in your favor because your systems used the vax as an early detection system and the vax installed plans for your military industrial complex to rapidly build that fighting force. Now sometimes the enemy changes uniforms, or learns new commando tactics. Your body needs to know how to build new fighting forces to counter and that comes with a vax booster plan with with new recce cards and new MIC plans. Sure you could try to tough it out on your own, and maybe those new bug commandos damage your lungs.
  20. The winning Powerball numbers for this week. The ratio of unicorns to leprechauns was probably off so that may be a factor. I seem to recall during vax development that boosters was put out as likely. Like yearly. Like forever. Anyway, I'm coming in hot because all I see these days is spouting of some podcast as fact, some media guy as gospel, etc., and people looking around at each other, hey, I heard something, do you hear something? Did your something come from a lefty or righty cause I only trust talk radio people that say they got covid and say they drank blue urinal cake water cause that shit kills anything. Try going to the sources; perhaps a peer reviewed journal and published scientific papers for example. I mean if you want to quote me as fact, try 8-12-22-53-62 PB 11 And by god if those are the numbers.....
  21. Like a Combat Aerial Port. With Combat State Dept Reps for the people verification. PS. I learned that putting "Combat" in front of words makes it sound more capable. That and "Combat Showers" means you're in "Combat Conditions" and thus qualify for Combat Pay.
  22. Ah, hostages for negotiations. How much?
  23. Not an AWACSer either, but here's a crazy idea. Get a handful of ATC types (like previous Kabul tower controllers), give them a flight suit and a console on the E-3. Then say, you are going to control the airfield from the sky. You may not have perfect radar, or perfect comms, and will definitely need to be agile, so do you best with what you have and fall back on procedural control/slotting. It'll be like the wild west. NOTAM forthcoming, what do you want in it? But again, this might have been an idea to a possible problem if THERE WAS A PLAN!!! Would it have worked? Probably. We can be pretty crafty with problem solving as long as we can get out of our own way. Those ATC guys did it with Twitter and DM.
  24. Scheller's video seems like his version of a "Dear Boss" letter. Or he wargamed the shit out of this move and has umpteen branch plans ready to fire. Now if this does go to Courts Martial, can he subpoena and introduce evidence to back up his statements? Dispositions? Witnesses? If a CM happens, betcha a beer he tries to turn the table and make a circus out of it. He'll probably also get plenty of free, high power, legal help as this represents a target to take a shot at the Biden admin. Make some popcorn, this might get interesting... PS, if only CENTCOM, and those up higher, had wargamed the Afghan retrograde plan.... wait, that's right, no plan to game out.
