One other thing about strats is many commanders try to take care of many folks and thus there are a few more categories these days like x of y ACs or IPs. Its not hard to find those gifted aviators with gifted leadership, they're often well known, a minority, and they get #1 (I'm making it sound easy, but it takes time and effort). The rest of us I think pick a route, either a master of all things aviation and fill in enough squares to make rank or those that play the game to its fullest and fill squares, volunteer for jobs, and try to show leadership. The irony is #1 CGO is likely weighed more than #1 AC or IP at a board. Part of that I think is that FGO and CGO are universal across all AFSCs. Saucy, I think that sustained/improved performance is the more weighty item. Ever seen the #1 Lt get lost in the crowd later on as a Capt or Maj? Petered out. Move along, next record. Out

BTZ? I think that the job matters a bit more. Those I've know get BTZ were not in wing jobs, but rather staffs of Joint/COCOM etc. They're out getting breadth and getting strat'd by non-AF bosses. If you can impress the AF SRs and say a Marine or Navy leader, then BTZ is looking good. But for IPZ, either of those strats will likely lead to success. Again, this is just based on those I know. Those you know probably did it differently. 2. Out

Very good use of the Trident. In other words, "that escalated quickly." A paid vacation to sunny Patrick in May, what's the worst that could happen? Out

Zero pitfalls. You should do it. No one will complain. No one will deploy. Everyone will get along. No one will move in their GFs. Everyone will clean up. Everyone will be responsible with the bills and control their pay per view habits. No one will break things. No one will have weird or destructive pets. No one will PCS without having someone else take over their share. You will always rent out the spare rooms to nice, responsible people and the rooms will always be full. No one will go bankrupt. Nope, never. Out

Tell your boss you want to go 1st look, that it's best for your career and such. Isn't that why the AF selected you? Build your case and fire away. The worst is the cc says no. Let us know how it works out for you. Out

Aviation Continuation Pay (ACP - The Bonus)
disgruntledemployee replied to Toro's topic in General Discussion
The irony. Promo boards never see the FEF! And many of those deployment Q3s were viewed as spiteful by the home unit, so... those just make for interesting airline interview stories. SWA inteviewer: TMA your Q3. Dude: I wore a baseball cap while flying troops from A to B. Commander Douche saw it and didn't like it. SWA: Yeah, what a douche. Say, what was his name so we can blackball it? Out -
Won't change anything. What do we know? Besides, nobody ever actually puts any of that stuff to use, we just shoot from the hip. Out

I'll check it out. I'm glad to see Walton Goggins make it into bigger roles. He was kinda ok in The Shield, but he really shined in Justified. Out Oh, Rey as Luke's little girl? Too tidy, too conveniently expected. Nope, it's gotta be something we'd hardly expect. Just like when we all found out who Luke's father was. Now I'm out

I bought my SR22 primarily as a teaching (and fun plinking) pistol for my wife and kids. It has all the features most other semi-auto pistols have, it is easily controlled, and fits small hands for the lady and youtes. It's also super easy to reload. My wife used it to get her CCL and has since upgraded to a M&P Shield for carry. I also looked at Walther, but didn't like the materials. Congratulations Dyess. Thanks for leading the way, I hope others follow the same path!!! Hey Base Commanders, HINT HINT!!! Out

I'll 2nd the Ruger SR22, which I got at a BX. Just be sure to use good ammo. Some 22LR I used wouldn't cycle it and caused FTF (Winchester Super X). I usually use Remington Golden Bullet, CCI AR Tactical, and CCI Stinger (when available) without issue. BX holiday sales usually cause my gun ownership to increase. Out

I'm happy to fly over their place in Mighty Herk and take a piss to form some of my own "Chem Trails." Out

The fam loved The Martian. Hey Hollywood! See! It wasn't too hard to make a good movie that everyone enjoyed. Can you make another? No sequels or reboots, though. Out

If I go to the forum page, it looks like old school hyper-links and I see this: Sorry, there is a problem Something went wrong. Please try again.Error code: EX145 However, I see where I can login and if so, I can see the normal forum content. If I don't login, none of the links work.

I like the Shield, it feels good good, is easy to shoot/control, and accuracy is decent. However, I think they have a material problem with their recoil spring assembly. First, the end of the assembly that engages into the barrel is thin. Mine bent, like in this sample picture I found on the interwebs. Now, I think I bent mine during initial take down and reassemble, or it came that way from the factory as I hadn't shot it yet. The directions say to make sure the thing is perfectly centered on the barrel. Mine was probably off just enough to catch and bend. I called S&W and I said recoil spring assembly and they asked for my address. No issues since then, but I haven't done another take down yet either. Second, and I haven't had any issues with this one, but the spring is a flat ribbon and is not uniform. Some people don't like it. I haven't had any function issues. In summary, it was a great deal, 10% off at the local BX, and no function issues with about 300 rds of Blazer Brass 9mm. I haven't carried it yet, but that is the plan. I'd love it they doubled the thickness of the metal to prevent bending. Out

I was there in 2003. All was fine and dandy. 3x pint sized beers a day with decent selection, the wagon wheel before and after the storm that tore it up, but we didn't care, and we wore whatever was comfortable. The mission got on. Then Roche shows up. I overhear him ask, "so you guys don't wear a uniform 24/7?" Queue in knee-jerk reaction which institutes the PT-like clothing restrictions that seemed to change weekly as someone saw something that they didn't like. We hear anecdotal stories of ladies with suitcases full of shoes, supposedly for the wagonwheel fashion show, as why we need to change. It will save weight on rotators they say, but never mind the xx lbs of useless chem gear/army gear we haul every rote. "Leadership" was way too awesome making this change <--- sarcasm! My next 2 times there in 2004 was the civilian PT like clothing. I don't recall when official PT gear went into style, but I think we had to have it for my 2005 rote. And now we don't have to wear it. People can get 3x beers a day, but selection has seen better days. There is a Bra. And I think the mission is still getting on. Weird. Out

F-16 & Cessna mid-air over SC

If you don't have TCAS, ask for it. It has provided heads up SA when ATC was busy/forgot/didn't see it or when I'm out on the low level not talking to ATC. Out -
Are you supporting the pedophile in my make believe situation? If so, then their make believe lawsuit is thrown out since they were just added to the sex offender list in the make believe lawsuit I filed, all we all lived happily ever after. The End.

Financial Planning for a US default
disgruntledemployee replied to Clark Griswold's topic in Squadron Bar
Ooooh, can I try? 1. The military will be used to "invade" Texas. So, I'll stay away from any evil-government locations that will be used to subdue the population. Why do you think homeland got a billion rounds of ammo, target practice? 2. I have automatic motion sensing drones with a shotgun barrel attached that will sense enemies approaching and autolaunch and engage. They will know me and my family, but everyone else is a target. They'll be charged with a battery bank linked to solar power arrays. I have a reloading station in case of a large hoard. I'll keep adding drones until I get at least 50. And I'm installing well placed pop up gun turrets with that Bruce Willis gun mount. 3AM knife wielding sociopaths--dead! 2a. Those radio transmissions will be fake and cannot be trusted, so I'll stay on my "land" with its "mass of wood," but I don't have drywall. You see, I replaced the drywall with lead lined steel. And I installed a recirculated filtered air system to keep out the chems from overflying aircraft which will try to drug me and trick me into submission. Oh, and I have a moat with piranha around my "This Land." 3. Hah, all my like minded people are in my head and we agree. But I've adopted a bunch of little kids and trained them to defend me. I'm indestructible! -
"Gee, officer, I thought that it was a pedophile operating that spying device looking in on my kids bathroom." But before the officer shows up, if the operator shows up first, a picture of them on my doorstep posted to social media calling them pedophiles trying to spy on my little kids gets posted. Need anymore justification? I could make up all sorts of justification. And I'll gladly roll those dice. Because nobody likes pedophiles. Out

I like it. Brogan is like the millennial version of the duchy anti-bro, kind of like "Kramer." If it sticks, neat. If not, I'll return to my 75 IBU pint of IPA. Out, oh and cheers.
