Amen...Unity march, Everyone is a Warrior, punishing the entire base when one jackwagon gets a DUI, and sycophantic senior leaders with closets full of skeletons who serve only themselves...those are the reasons I got out. Also, for the the record I don;t think anyone needs a reason to get out. As an O-6 I spoke with multiple folks who were on the fence and the first thing I always said was "Thanks for your service, you are part of the 1% that raised your hand to serve and if you think getting out is the best thing for you and you family, godspeed, grateful you gave us the time you did."
  3. What you identify as poor leadership is actually someone asking you as an IP to be a fucking adult, sorry that is so difficult for you. Enjoy the airlines, I am sure you "me only" attitude will serve you quite well in the interview process. For the record I retired to get away from caustic leadership and a broken system, I think most of the people that served with me (some on here), know I was not into the you should be ridiculed because I was ridiculed routine, but getting offended because someone asks you to make sure you training paperwork is squared away...dear god, get the sand out of your vagina.

    Fo Sho. I have a Kimber and my Grandfather's issued 1911 he carried through WWII, both are way to big to be a viable concealed carry.

  9. I RARELY place cred on initial reports and "witness" accounts but they are saying it "burst into flames" while still airborne. Also, interesting that the hook is down? One would think the Super Hornets would be holding up better than the legacy birds but from recent reports the entire fleet is having serious issues due to overuse as noted by VMFA187. Prayers to the family.

    I did a lot of research (and shooting), and narrowed my search to the Glock 43 and M&P 9 for my concealed carry weapon. I am a fairly large dude and have big hands so grip has always been an issue for me with smaller handguns. Both are easily concealed in the sticky holster I use in my waistband. I found the Glock a bit thicker and shorter, the shortness actually impacted my grip and ultimately my accuracy. The M&P 9 being thinner and a bit longer allows me to get all of my fingers on the grip and for me personally makes it feel more stable. Both shot well but I was driving nails with the M&P 9 (so was my wife), so in the end I went with this weapon and have been very pleased carrying it for the past two years.
  11. I pulled out of the base gas station one day and TSgt Snuffy passes me going the opposite direction as I took a drink from the bottle I just purchased at the shopette. I immediately hear a siren and look back to see him powerslide his patrol car, fishtail his cruiser on the shoulder with dirt, rocks, and grass flying everywhere. Lights blazing he comes raging up behind me so I pull over. He nearly runs to my side of the car and starts yelling, "I got you Sirrrrrr, I got you!" Ummmm Huh? You got me doing what TSgt? "I got you drinking and driving Sirrrrrrrr, I saw you drinking that beer you have in your lap!!#%^$*" I take a deep breath and reply "Hey Sargeeeeee, do you mean this ROOT beer? He looked at the bottle three times, his head rocking sideways like a confused dog. He didn't say another work, he just walked away.

    It's not a Constitutional right to purchase a cake from any baker either. You just destroyed the liberal argument to the Supreme Court that would force a Baker to make a cake for a homosexual couple. The ruling later this year will have huge implications.

  16. 40 out 110 AFSOC O-6's hit the eject button, including a few HPOs (at least one a multi-year BPZ sitting Wing/CC). Some might see this as a good thing, but that is still a lot of experience walking out the door all at once.

  19. Copy...the point lost on most is both the AT-6 AND the A-29 will cost $20 million. If we are going to make this big investment for 300 aircraft I just wish we would get the most for the $ and the American taxpayer.
  20. My class circa 1991 didn't lose anyone. We had two wash back for medical but both went on to graduate. I also had to do FSHPOT (I think that was the acronym), even though I had a PPL at Hondo Fld when they still had the might T-41 Mescalero. I know we lost a lot of people but I don't remember the rate. When we were finished they made all go take a bunch of computer tests (math problems in the center display while using your hands to control a line), I am assuming that was part of the baseline for the testing they do today?
  21. What difference does the cost of the sensor make if they are going to put the same sensor on the prop version? New sensors being developed are already being and tested for other platforms so that part is a wash. The difference is Scorpion can carry MORE...perhaps three with the option federating one or two back to the JOC. You are a bit off on the A-10 speed comparison, T/W is comparable but the Scorpion is slick as shit. The sensors can be retracted and when they are it can be difficult to slow down. The other piece is the design of the wing which is 40 years more advanced than the A-10 and the product of millions of hours of highly efficient biz jet flying. IMHO USAF totally missed the boat on what the speed and altitude capes do to the employment construct. Having an aircraft that can take off and climb to the high 30's, cruise at 400+ knots to the AO, then drop down with 4-5 hours on station (perhaps more depending on how you load fuel), is a game changer in reach and changes the lily pad construct. You can have the exact same (or less) response time from bases further away and have just as much if not more play time. I encourage folks to think differently about the pit on these aircraft. The original construct was to fly host nation folks so they could be trained to provide for their own defense. If employed in a USAF only construct, there is huge benefit to having another brain stem to run the extra one or two sensors...doesn't hurt from a seasoning perspective for multiple pilots. Bottomline, Lite Attack was meant to supplement not replace the A-10 and by all measures except landing in the dirt (when was the last time we did that in combat? What about security logistics etc... If you have a jet that has the range and refueling capability you don't need to land in the dirt), Scorpion is a revolution beyond AT-6C and the A-29. Unfortunately the requirement was written by A-29 guys and evaluated by A-29 guys.
