  1. I believe it was phrased "by a foreign Air Force." The tech works, mostly...it can be overwhelmed by a swarm attack. The being said, if you misidentify the incoming drone as one of your own all the Counter-UAS capability in the world doesn't matter. First rule of Fight Club...
  2. It should be measured but overwhelming. It should also reflect not only the attack on Tower 22, but the 151 previous attacks on Americans. We only have one carrier forward (the Ike), and she doesn't have any F-35C's so strike along the coast to stay medium risk. I would prefer to save the TLAMs for a follow up response if needed. Also, I would have an even bigger response ready should Iran respond like they did last time.
  3. Horrible - will we remain weak or turn loose some whoopass?
  4. Bus - I would like to agree but history has repeatedly proven otherwise. In short, China is likely to have a LOT of young disgruntled men who cant find jobs or women. Everytime that has happened in past history leaders have used war to focus the anger elsewhere and cull the herd. I hope I am wrong.
  5. Biden lays border crisis on Trump admin's refusal to cooperate Of course Biden blames it on Trump and the liberal press pushes that same narrative.
  6. The equivalent of the city of Pittsburg is coming across our border every MONTH. Where are they going, where do they live and who pays for it? Rhetorical of course. Ten retired FBI directors and experts in counter intelligence sent a letter to congressional leaders warning that President Joe Biden’s border policies have facilitated a “soft invasion” into the U.S. of military-age men coming from terror-linked regions, China and Russia. "It would be difficult to overstate the danger represented by the presence inside our borders of what is comparatively a multi division army of young single adult males from hostile nations and regions whose background, intent, or allegiance is completely unknown.” "It would be difficult to overstate the danger represented by the presence inside our borders of what is comparatively a multi division army of young single adult males from hostile nations and regions whose background, intent, or allegiance is completely unknown. They include individuals encountered by border officials and then possibly released into the country, along with the shockingly high estimate of 'gotaways,' meaning those who have entered and evaded apprehension.” Keep in mind, this is EXACTLY what our liberal friends want, they continue to fight for it at every turn, every day.
  7. Indeed it was not a prediction, I was sharing the thoughts of some others that are far more draconian, BUT ones we should listen to and consider. As others have noted Peter Z does a great job of walking through the socioeconomic conditions that are pulling china into this downward spiral. I would balance his comments with and the lose of control predictions with the reality of having a brutal dictator running the show, one who is reluctant to give up power and will take actions that may worsen the conditions of the population if it allows him to remain in control. The breaking point others have predicted is all predicated upon the people rising up, and we have seen how that has gone in China in the past. Something is happening in China and Jinping is swinging a big bat. It was widely reported China Closed 2023 With a Military Purge, especially interesting that he went after the not only his top 9 generals but also the PLA Rocket Force. They are supposed to be the asymmetric advantage that will hold the U.S. at bay should we respond to an attack/invasion of Taiwan. With this and other actions Jinping is now in an echo chamber of his own thoughts and words and we've seen what has happened in the past when a single person has that much power.
  8. Now the fight for the VP slot. I see the front runners as Elise Stefanik, Kristi Noem, Tim Scott, or Ron Desantis. He ruled Haley out which is odd as it would have brought him some voted from the middle.
  9. The first one seriously fucked some people up. Will Joe remain feckless and allow this to go unchallenged?
  10. In many ways it is true. The Ukrainians, using our tech, have been inflicting personnel losses at a 5:1 ratio (10:1 when it comes to armor and fighting vehicles), that being said, the Russians in typical manner have settled into a battle of attrition which is their ideological way of war. Unfortunately for Ukraine, Russia has three times the population and Vlad seems content to continue to throw his country's youth into the meat grinder. Additionally, Russian industry has been cranking up tank production and while they continue to lose their vehicles fast than they can produce them, they still have deep reserves and without continued replacements the Ukraine force will degrade.
  11. The Gators and Napier continue their nosedive...as reported yesterday the Gator football program has been under investigation by the NCAA since June. NCAA Reportedly Investigating Florida Football Program I am not going to dogpile too much, as much as I dislike the Gators, it appears this is all about NIL which is a disaster unleashed on all teams by the NCAA. FSU was just sanctioned for violations and one has to wonder how clear the rules are and how many other teams will soon be investigated. @M2 - You guys need to clean house in the coaching department. It is a great school with an incredibly loyal fanbase, how are they letting Napier continue. Are making a bet for Aug 31? Should we go to the game?
  12. Don't forget we are dealing with the COVID generation, I think he got two years combining a COVID waiver with an ACL injury...but yeah bro you are a top TE prospect for the NFL, got get some.
  13. Both sides continue to pay a terrible price. The Russians have long been masters of propaganda, but they have not embraced social media at the same level as the Ukrainians. There are hundreds if not thousands of videos like the one below showing the lethal effects of small drones and air dropped munitions. I hope the lads and lasses in the five sided building have been paying attention.

    USAA

I have a bunch of rental properties and am constantly getting dumped to "reduce exposure". Going through that process and dumping USAA I found AutoOwners actually has great service, rates and ratings. I use them for our auto insurance, a couple of rental properties and have a big liability policy to umbrella my LLC. It sure feels like USAA is circling the drain.
  15. Crazy huh...26 years old? Did you see his history, basically 4 years of injury waivers. Dude has his bachelors, masters and is about to complete a second masters degree.
  16. The meltdown at U of Florida continues... Napier was NOT happy when he showed up to visit a recruit and Miami's OC Shannon Dawson beat him to the punch.
  17. Concur and it will be see how the Orcs respond. Combined arms is a multiplier on the battlefield and something the Russian do very poorly, it at all. It looks like a deal is almost done to get them more funding which will make the spring very interesting.
  18. DS923+ has a some negative reviews and the 1522 has an extra bay for a couple dollars more.
  19. Vlad has reportedly lost over 300 combat aircraft in the fight for Ukraine (I don't think that includes all the helos). He lost 3 X SU-34's in one day (thanks Patriot missile system).
  20. I've programmed things for Linux before but I would rather a turnkey solution with a GUI (there could be Linux shareware), that allows seamless backups of our phones, IPads, laptops AND provides access to all our files, pictures and videos via a single networked solution.
  21. Looking for some feedback and solutions of others. I have a lot of porn....errr personal files and I am looking for a backup solution that is safe and allows for world-wide access. I am not a big fan of the cloud services...giving big tech all my data is not high on my list and personally I think there will be a large cloud cyber attack in the near future. I've looked at several home cloud options and have ruled our Western Digital after the big hack and some nefarious nonsense around requiring hard drive replacement every three years. As of now I am thinking the Synology DS1522+ which I would set up as a Raid 1. We have a lot of old family pictures and video that I would like to have better access to. In addition to the Raid 1 I will likely keep a separate direct connect backup of those files in the fire safe.
  22. Well almost, Miami won out over FSU and signed Cam Ward, 2024 is going to be interesting. The real trail of tears will be in Tuscaloosa...with Saban gone there is no way DeBoer stops that program from sinking back to mediocrity.
  23. A couple of Ivy League leftists with an agenda to ruin America.
  24. Hard to get a word in when they are screaming equity, DEI, open borders, hate the orange man and white guilt. Not a good reply if you don't invoke Trump. I am not a giant fan of the waiver either but there are good exceptions but IMHO Mattis was a good one. For those that know Austin it was obvious he was not a good choice for the job or the waiver but he did hit the DEI metrics. Having worked in that office I do not agree with this assessment. Yes we absolutely need civilian control of the military and that is one of the main drivers for the waiver requirement but some of these "straight-up civilian defense/security executive", are nothing more than academics (usually from left wing Ivy universities), and that presents a separate issue of ignorance. If these were elected positions I might think differently but I always flash back to Robert McNamara and the horrific damage he did and the American lives lost because of his actions as SECDEF. Interesting you mention Kathleen Hick, I've worked with her and again I do NOT agree with your assessment. Having a public affairs grad Mount Holyoke College determine defense policy for the most powerful military in the world is far from optimal. I hear you...but different personalities and drivers, not everyone is the same. You and I have both worked with people driven by power, like you I am not in that ilk but I can see how some need that pursuit to keep them going. I will be curious your view when you get closer to my age. Growing up poor I am now in my peak earning years which is beyond anything I ever dreamed of as a kid. It's crazy, my wife and I both drive cars that cost more than our first house. Also, based on my childhood I will ALWAYS have the irrational fear, I don't have enough. I've mentioned before that years ago I set three personal numbers. The first number was absolute minimum to retire...I will easily meet all basic needs and never have to work again. Second number was great quality of life, freedom to do whatever whenever. Third number was FU money. I had first number when I retired from the AF and was fortunate to hit second number years ago thanks to second job and two big investments that paid off. Oddly my childhood wealth insecurity is colliding with peak earning years and a bonus package from new job. In round numbers if I work another 14 months there is a big payout. In essence would you work another 14 months for $100K a month? It is probably irrational especially knowing my family and my wife's family are both wealthy and will leave us more than we could ever spend, but inheritance was never part of my retirement calculus. My wife confronted me over the holidays and asked me to retire and I committed to get across the bonus finish line then hang it up while we are both relatively young and have our health.
