Heavy guys instructing T-38s
Who gives a shit what you flew before? T-38 tac form has probably been the same for two decades. It doesn’t take an 11F to teach what LAB, 4-6k and stack level looks like. I think some 11F representation in the SUPT T-38 squadron is valuable, but why not drop those guys into IFF instructor seats or B course billets?

ENJJPT or UPT for AFSOC?
Let’s not get carried away now. The AF controls your destiny, you only think you do.

ENJJPT or UPT for AFSOC?
Can’t disagree with you there either, cheers.

ENJJPT or UPT for AFSOC?
...but who in their right mind would throw away the opportunity to fly the T-38 when the drop pool increases? I am not the type of dude to bag on the T-1, but I’m SURE it’s not nearly as fun or rewarding to fly. Don’t listen to people who tell you to track T-1 regardless of intent...you will most likely regret it in the future and spend every waking moment telling your friends/family how you could have gone T-38 if you wanted but chose not to even though you are a young Bob Hoover.

ENJJPT or UPT for AFSOC?
Regardless of the flavor of pilot training, try to end up in the T-38. If you go to Sheppard, this obviously happens automatically. Regarding ENJJPT vs SUPT for AFSOC follow- on: I wouldn’t focus on that aspect exclusively at this point because either one can take you to that promise land.

Promotion and PRF Information
It was kind of awhile ago, but I faintly remember something from SERE about your own government fvcking you and the media. Could be wrong though, I have been before.

That’s criminal. I am not one to fall on my sword often, but this instance would be totally worth it to expose the fvckery going on.

Columbus T-38 down
I am not sure if you mean “flown either black jet” or either T-38...no to the former, yes to the latter. I stated things the way I did because I find it amusing whenever A models show up on the ramp, they look brand new. In my head I conjure up a scenario where people who would be fixing things that are C-specific now spend their days on the line with a wash bucket and wax rag keeping em shiny. This wasn’t a knock on the people who use the A model, but when you compare A to C for UPT (THE primary function for the trainer) there is no question which is undeniably better for the intended use.

Columbus T-38 down
Not sure why this even a debate...new seat, two radios, GPS/INS and a glass cockpit sounds like a way better platform than a black jet with shiny ass tailpipes.

How do you get 2x miles or bomb-ass cash rewards with the GTC...oh wait, never mind.

Pilot Shortage Deepens, USAF is SCREWED.
In more words than I would have used, agree with your sentiment. My decision to stay in is driven by a couple motivating factors, but when the job is more suck than fun and when the family is unnecessarily suffering from AF-induced bullshit then I’ll know it’s time to punch. For now, it’s still a hoot so I’ll keep collecting my government welfare check.

How do you feel about your airframe and mission?
I would trade a few years at Cannon for the follow-on good deals in a better aircraft. The friends I do have that spent time at Moody flying 130s and the Hawg didn’t particularly care for the place.

How do you feel about your airframe and mission?
Not in the community but if you don’t mind deploying, I would take the MC.

Track Selects and Assignment Nights
Quite contrary. I appreciate the amount of work that most FAIPs put into the pilot production process. That being said, I have no respect for people who would FAIP for the sole reason of trying to pad an airline resume. Simply a matter of opinion, and mine is that the AF has a combat requirement to fulfill. Cheers.
-
Track Selects and Assignment Nights
Strictly my opinion, but if you FAIP with the intention of being marketable to airline...fvck you. I know we are trying to generate pilots, but we’re not trying to make airline pilots. I’m with the other AFSOC brains here...go out and cut your teeth while the war is still hot. After you’ve seen you fair share of shit and combat has lost luster, take your white jet tour. As an aside, I have to seriously question the word of a guy who says that his FAIP tour developed a greater sense of airmanship than a combat deployment to Afghanistan in a barrel-roll capable King Air.

I’ve known the Johnson family since grade school. Brice was a class act and a hell of a guy. He will be greatly missed. Rest easy brother.

T-6s Grounded; More OBOGS Issues
It was a comparison of how trivial the argument is. As I stated before, I’m clearly in the minority here. If someone offered me an enrichment ride on day one of the new procedures I would gladly accept. I’m not a company man, but I do love flying so thank goodness there are several types of us out there. Last post in this thread.

T-6s Grounded; More OBOGS Issues
I appreciate the thought put into the posts, but my opinion hasn't changed. It's third-hand information, but I don't think the OBOGS issue is related to contamination but more likely concentrations and blood reaction. That being said, I would never assume that you have a vote in anything you do...especially while on a bike. The only vote you have there is the decision to saddle up or not. I have friends without limbs and have passed too many people under white sheets that never got a vote.

T-6s Grounded; More OBOGS Issues
I’ve taken notes and maintain my position. We all have our own ideas of what unnecessary risk is and this, TO ME, is not it. People will bitch about OBOGS or the lack of an external CFS jettison and then turn right around and ride a motorcycle home during rush hour. I’m OK with being in the minority here.

T-6s Grounded; More OBOGS Issues
I’m already at Laughlin, dual qual sounds great as long as my beans will be prorated. None of the points made have changed my mind. If I was an IP in T-6 land this would be a non-issue for me. Flew a single engine turboprop without ejection seats, with a 10 minute supply of emergency oxygen and no smoke goggles well outside of glide from any suitable landing site and somehow still managed just fine. Sure, the possibility of some anomalous in-flight breakup of a T-6 at high altitude is statistically possible...but how likely? Same goes for smoke and fumes event incidents given the amount of daily flying that occurs. Not saying things can’t happen but the pervasive unwillingness to fly is almost comical. Go spend some time with Army rotary wing, I’m sure that group will empathize.
