I’ve been to Denver lately too; the border is an order of magnitude more chaotic. People in Democratic cities see only a fraction of the immigration problem and even that seems substantial; the border is where the entirety of the problem manifests. Perhaps if you saw it you would grasp the magnitude of the crime Biden is willfully committing. And anyway, precedent already exists for states to ignore parts of the constitution they don’t like: democrats initiated this “sanctuary city” thing which flat out ignores federal law. You can’t have it both ways, we either obey the law or we don’t. Currently in America, we don’t. This is what it looks like; prepare for more.

Thank you for posting both articles. This gets at the heart of our nations inability to resolve our conflicts by discussion anymore. For those not clicking on his first link, it’s a Penn State law opinion piece that basically says ‘no, sanctuary city policies do not violate federal law because they only stop local governments from helping federal immigration authorities.’ The article ignores multiple incentives by sanctuary cities for illegal immigrants that entice them to break the law and ignores countervailing legal opinions that sanctuary cities are in fact, violating the law by aiding and abetting lawbreakers. That in itself is a crime. The article also ignores the crime of conspiracy between NGO’s directly assisting illegal immigrants and sanctuary cities who directly assist those NGOs. but whatever, I’m uninterested in a tit for tat on the articles or even the legal issue. I appreciate it for a broader reason: it illuminates a phenomenon that has poisoned domestic politics, namely, no matter how threatened and assaulted people feel a democratic lawyer will tell you “actually, as a legal expert, you have to just shut up and take it and you aren’t qualified to have a different opinion.” Don’t want your car destroyed when you accidentally drive upon a BLM protest? Too bad, you have to take it. Find yourself getting chased by a mob trying to bludgeon you? Can’t shoot them, sorry, you shouldn’t have been there. Democrats always have a legal justification for the injustice you must endure, and that makes conversation impossible because they just want us all to follow the law… which, of course is whatever they say it is. By their actions they have invited lawlessness into our national conversation, which works both ways. They don’t like it, but that’s too bad, prepare for more.

Cuz, I live less than 150 miles from Eagle Pass (Denver's another 800 miles away), have been there in an official capacity and gotten the Golden Ticket tour. It's fucked up on so many levels, I am not even sure it's fixable; but I do know from firsthand experience what Texas is doing is having an effect. It may not be the one New Mexico and Arizona will like, but Texas is exercising its sovereign right to protect itself. Abbott is taking action because Biden refuses to. It is that simple. Have you been to the border recently? It’s unbelievable and obviously an invasion which must be stopped. You can’t see it and think the Biden administration has any legitimacy in their policy positions. It is a physical threat to residents.

Completely serious. Biden is as big a POS human as the political class comes. Maybe look beyond his current dementia, going all the way back to the early days. He and his family (and many of the elite in the US) are selfish dirtbags who think they are above the law and better than all of us not in said elite class. If you can’t see that, I guess you actually do have TDS. Making excuses for Biden as if he’s a better human than Trump is ludicrous and uninformed. At best they’re both equally shit. I don’t put Desantis or Vivek in the political class (we’re taking people like Schumer, Pelosi, McConnell, etc.) I actually don’t like Haley much, but while very much establishment, she is better than all the aforementioned names (not including Desantis/Vivek imo). In the end, I would have much rather seen Desantis, Vivek or Haley be the nominee, and would happily vote for any of them vs. the shitshow that the Dems are. But here we are, and I’m voting based on policy, not emotions. Votes driven by emotion is how we’ve arrived at this point.

I personally think he’s a complete jerk, but I do think his policies are overall a vast improvement over the current administration. What is strange though is that you admit you believe at least some of his indictments to be political/not legitimate, and yet you use that as a reason to further dislike him/not want his as a president? Why not just stick with your own personal reasons vs reasons you admit aren’t legitimate? As for him being a jerk, not someone I would want to be friends with…that has literally zero effect on my life. I’m not trying to be friends with the guy. But his tax policies, not wanting to forgive student loans, his picks for judges, etc do affect me in a positive way compared to Biden. I was hoping for DeSantis but it became obvious last year that wasn’t going to happen. As for Haley, I’d rather have Trump than a Bush/Romney style Republican. Will Trump win in Nov? I stand by my recent 50/50 chance I’ve recently states. And if Biden wins (I’m actually starting to think it might be M Obama as the Dem nominee), then oh well. Me and my family will personally still do very well, but I’m sure the middle class will continue to take a large hit. And as for the lower class, the more illegals we allow in, the lower wages will stay.

Good point. Probably not. Biden's speaking ability and mental capacity are beyond pathetic at this point. Likewise, Trump has self-declared that he won't do debates, because he's a pu$$y and a coward. So maybe we've already seen our last debate of this election year? I don't know. Some? I don't even try to keep up with all the indictments, court appearances, and mug shots. It's too much of a circus, just like his presidency. If charges brought against him are illegitimate political attacks, that is, of course, terrible. But consider this. Lets' say for the sake of argument that all the charges are illegitimate political attacks. How should we expect someone (especially someone who aims to be the most powerful man on earth and leader of the free world) to work through adjudicating these charges? Is it ok, for example, to simply call for absolute immunity from crime? Does that make any sense? Does that sound like someone with a good grip on the guiding principles of our country? ***Side note, I'm sure when he says "a President must have full immunity.....," he's totally ok with full immunity for Biden or, had Hillary been elected, for her. There's no way he was just thinking entirely of himself, right? Afterall, how dull would the Trump rallies be without all the "Lock him/her up!" chants? Zero chance that Trump's brain gravitates towards "Rules for thee, not for me" thinking without contemplating the double-standard, right? Another example -- Pretend that we were actually presented with specific examples and concrete evidence of election "fraud and deception" that he claims was rampant. Great. Would it be ok to "terminate all the rules, regulations, and articles in the Constitution" to reverse the election? How many of us (who swore an oath to support & defend the constitution) are willing to vote for a guy that openly calls for 'terminating' the constitution for his own benefit?? So that's my point. Even if the allegations, charges, indictments, fraud, etc. brought against him are in fact all BS, his responses to them are outrageous and disqualifying. His responses showcase his character. He has the mind of a child. He's selfish and self-centered to the extreme. He doesn't understand the fundamental concepts and principles of our country, and is driven only by ego.

I think your buddy is stuck. There likely aren’t unfilled AD slots he could just slide into. If he quits, that’s probably the end of flying in the mil. If he wants to fly, then suck it up, go to the home unit for a couple years, and look for a transfer to another unit or a VLPAD option.

I've been in the AETC-flavored side of the TFI unholy alliance for 13 of my 18 years in this so-called career, and I can't say I've ever heard of an unqualified AFRC accessions incurring a UFT ADSC via RegAF switcharoo. I'm not aware of any accessions vehicle that would cover that request. Technically, he'd be stealing an OTS pilot slot in the current fiscal year in doing so, but that's also a hypothetical. What I do know is he has a a 10 year UFT RSC upon completion of wings to AFRC, and AFRC paid for him to go to UPT, not regAF. VLPADs do exist however, as does IMAs who can get activated for years (know of one who rode it for like 5). Both are, definitionally, temporary programs/statuses. They also generally deal with experienced folks in current and qualified status in whatever air force mission there is a shortage of full time manning. So that generally wouldn't help your buddy right now, as a 92T0 cannon fodder.
