Not a day goes by where I wish I stayed in. Job security included. Live below your means, keep your wife amount to under 2 definitely less than 3, save appropriately, and enjoy the ride. Always hope for the best but plan for the worst. Still better than Active Duty.5 points

Nah, no elbow coming from me brother. BL as much as this place has been a bit of an echo chamber of optimism bias for the past 6 years, that is of no concern to me either way. I don't wish furloughs on anyone. Back on topic: I think even those furloughed today are going to be fine in the long term. The excel spreadsheets were always ridiculous fantasy-ridden garbage. That doesn't make the airline career garbage in the least, it just means that expectations need management. I sincerely wish every single airline guy or aspirant a quick recovery to income parity. As full time cadre, we're doing our part in trying to shore up our TRs in this moment of need.3 points

How did he get close enough to tell with mandatory social distancing? You should have chiefed him for being within 6-9 feet! Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app2 points

I am so glad I decided to keep a Guard job and not just cut ties completely. Being able to bring in extra money for just a little bit of work is a good shock absorber in times like these. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app2 points

Thanks! Glad we did good by you! Let me know if you need anything in the future! Pleasure working with you. FYSA not the time to refi or buy right now if you can avoid it. Rates are jumping by .375-.5% overnight. We’re expecting things to settle but right now just making a list of potential refi’s and telling anyone buying to drag out settlement so we can look for dips to lock. Someone told me Today Navy Fed said 6 months to settle and the big boys are quotes up to 4.5%. Stay safe out there and watch out for the swarms of zombies. We’re running Trident out of a broken down school bus in the woods of WV surrounded by land mines. Jon2 points

As a part-time contractor, I didn’t get the word from my company. I showed up and the base was a ghost town. I honestly cannot believe that the Bar Officers were not considered “essential personnel” and were not there making hot corn. WTF!?2 points

A big thank you to Springer for sending me some incredible vintage and original A-37 memorabilia. Although I’ve been fortunate to get orientation rides in some frontline fighters, when you sit in an A-37, you realize the guys that went to war in those machines were something special.1 point

Sorry for the confusion. I was just trying to be sarcastic and funny, and figured that anyone that looked at my avatar would chuckle.1 point

Most USAF bases are currently in DoD HPCON Level Alpha (I think?) and only a couple of USAF base are in HPCON Bravo (Maxwell AFB/Altus AFB/Travis AFB/March AFB/Barksdale AFB/Whiteman AFB/there could be more?). IMHO, these classes will probably CNX if we go to HPCON Charlie or Delta. And for some of us...: USAF: "Alright, we need pilots. Color vision dudes, you've got a new standard. New FC1 standard now in effect." COVID-19: "Not so fast..."1 point

What problem are we trying to solve? We don’t have a fighter pilot shortage in general, we have a shortage of experienced IPs/guys on staff. The last thing we need is more inexperienced fighter pilots. Retainment is the only way to actually solve the issue; everything else are just half-assed attempts to bandaid the sinking ship because the AF accepts the fact it’s not willing to do things that will actually retain those with 10+ years of fighter experience.1 point

Getting old isn’t for Sissys (Oh S—t, I’m again not PC). Wife and I had dinner a few nights ago with a good friend, 87, (retired 2 Star GO) that flew everything. FAC’d and Huns in several Tours....Anyway, he’s in great shape but expressed his concern about being in the Death Zone because of his age. Ended the evening toasting to the friends and the fun we had....1 point

HU&W, I come from a different PC (not) Community.....and the Quote, wasn't a Quote, but radio chatter where a statement was being made to the intensity of being/going Downtown and words were something akin to "shut up and die like a Naval aviator". Told the story of this Thud but finally found a pic...1 point
