We regularly engage foreign fighters in Iraq. And we don't check their passports before going kinetic. He was in the wrong place as an enemy combatant, on a known battlefield that we have been fighting on for years. I hope for the sake of his family he had SGLI.

While I agree with the general sentiment...they did attack our embassy. I appreciate an armed response compared to what happened in Benghazi.

At some point you have to escalate. The drone being shot down, the tankers being hijacked, the embassy being stormed... not to include the blood list of service members killed at the hands of Iran-based proxies. The question is whether this is the right escalation. Side note, this really puts a wrench in Iraqi-US relations, but that was coming when they were working with the group that ended up attacking the embassy (allegedly).

When I heard it was a Katyusha rocket (piss poor accuracy under the best of circumstances) my first though was the Shiite Militias got their wires crossed and somehow hit their own boss. Which would have been poetic justice of the highest order. Still it couldn't haven't have happened to a nicer SOB whatever ordnance is was. Now the Quds/Militias are probably a little paranoid about who sold them out for targeting. USA...USA!!!🤣

I was out riding around Tucson today and happened to see a four ship that looked like they were setting up for a missing man formation (or maybe it was my imagination) and I thought of this thread and Pyro, even though I never met the man. That moment had me thinking about this military aviation family, and all the things society fights about that don't mean anything. It was a sort of Zen moment, I'm grateful for it, and I'm damn lucky to be in this family. Life is too short to not live it. Him, Him.

This is not an apples to apples comparison...SOCOM/CC isn’t the leader of an organization that routinely kills and maims foreign soldiers and civilians using terroristic tactics. If you lead an attack on a sovereign nations embassy, they’re going to be consequences...Unfortunately we’ve injected ourselves into the ME, and after this, getting out will be much more challenging.

I came from the C-130J community, and I've heard from bros that Sq/CCs are telling dudes to put down their wildest dreams on their ADP or whatever the fuck it's called now and they will fight to make it happen. The chips are in your stack; time to bet big and make them fold. You're a heavy driver and want to fly bombers? Ask. If they say no, give them both fingers as you walk out the door and walk straight into a ANG/AFRC unit of your choice and apply. Don't want to fly after AD? You're in luck, because every major is hiring anyone with a pulse right now. You've never had more power. Use it wisely.

I've had students like you at the FTU. Fresh-faced FAIPs who think they can run roughshod over the enlisted ARMS troops and Intel troops.
