Hi all, I think I have a pretty good idea of what my chances are just based off the numerous threads here, but I would gladly accept any feedback from you all regarding my own specifics seeing as many of you are landing interviews and getting hired - so you must be doing something right ๐ 28 years old, non-prior Currently working as a senior software engineer (6 years industry experience) with experience leading projects and teams over the past year or so B.S. in Computer Science, 3.13 GPA P94 N88 AA87 V99 Q60 PPL 68 hours PCSM 85 (96 with 201+ hrs) LORs: one from college marching band director and two from military family friends w…

Hi everyone, So hereโs what I got: AFOQT Scores: Pilot 99/ Nav 93/ AA 98/ Verbal 94/ Quant 97 PCSM: 66 with 39 flights hours (87 @ 201 hrs) Additionally, I am 25 year old mechanical engineering grad with a 3.2 GPA, working for a large aerospace company. I would really like to try to go for fighters on the reserve/guard side but I feel my pcsm is abysmal for that. I plan on re-taking my TBAS (as my first time taking it I was coming in on very little sleep after a long flight the night before.) honestly how do my chances look? And if not for guard, what about for an AD pilot slot? thanks for the input everyone!

Hello all, longtime lurker here. I am currently an active duty O-4 looking at applying to UPT for FY21. I'm medical, so I came into the AF as an O-3 and have 5.5 years of active service. I commissioned as part of a scholarship program in 2011, so I know I will need an ETP for TFCSD. I'm rather unhappy in my career but love the military and want to be more operational. My AFOQT scores were 91/99/87/98/65 but my TBAS was an abysmal 33 (0 flight hours). I plan on retaking the TBAS, of course, and working on getting some hours. My main concern is that my rank will affect any future career I would have as a pilot. I just pinned on Maj in Sept '19, but after bei…

If someone has the time to give some advice, it will be greatly appreciated. Currently a civilian with no military experience. I started a business at 22 years old and used it as a means to an end for getting my bachelors in mechanical engineering from Auburn. Worked my way through school doing manual labor with my business and my grades aren't the best, but I graduated debt free. No stranger to hard work and perseverance, so this UPT seems the right fit. Currently trying to get my application in for AD and one guard unit before the new year. I take the TBAS Friday and took the AFOQT last month. From what I know I just need a flight physical and all my i's dotted and t's …

In 4 years of applying I have had 1 interview. My scores are good, GPA is good, LOR's are good, PPL etc. My problem is that I will need waivers/ETP's for medical, moral, and now age standards. I've been trouble free for 7 years now, but I've been arrested 5 times in my teens and again when I was 21. One of the arrests resulted in felony charges, and 2 arrests resulted in misdemeanors. The other 3 arrests I was released without charges. I have not been convicted of anything since I either did community service or my lawyer got the case dismissed. I also have 10 traffic violations but all of those were taken care of with drivers safety school. I was on med…

I've read through a ton of older threads on here. Maybe I've read to much that I've jumped the gun and confused myself. So older threads on here I found my 2008 or so, say the way to start the hiring process is by rushing a unit. I'm suppose to call a unit, ask for the pilot's ops desk and schedule a visit. I also fill out a packet and send it to the unit. If they like me they call me to the hiring board. When I call units one of two things happen. Either A they don't know what I am talking about or B. They redirect to a voicemail box that is either full or I leave a message and never hear back. The units that say they don't know what I am talking about nev…

Putting this out there to hear any advice the community may have to make my application more competitive for A-10's and other pointy nose aircraft. Baseops community and fellow UPT hopefuls, I was lucky enough to get selected during my first interview and never got around to using the BogiDope Interview Prep Package that I had purchased. Their App review helped me immensely during the process and I'm sure their interview prep is of the same game changing quality. That being said I leaned on this forum a lot over the past year and would like to give back to a fellow applicant. So, the rules are simple, post below that you would like to be entered to win and on Friday night the 22nd of November I'll pull a name from a hat to choose the winner. Here is further information on the package, https://bogido…

I was hesitant about posting here because due to my particular background and currently still being AD, it won't be too hard for people in my community to figure out who I am. That was dumb. I'm here to try and climb back in the cockpit, so people figuring out who I am doesn't matter one bit. I'm currently working on setting up applications for ANG Fighter Wings / Squadrons, but am not at all opposed to the Reserves or AD AF. I've tasted fighter life and having it snatched away for not being deemed qualified to land on a boat was a devastatingly humbling experience. It truly reoriented my world, however, through this adversity I've become laser focused and more determin…

Iโm highly interested in flying for the ANG; I do not care what I fly or where, I would just be grateful for a slot. Iโm currently 24 and have just under 4,000 hours of flight time and work for a regional airline. I also have a high GPA (3.9) With that being said I made the stupid decision to drink and drive when I was 21. Iโve since completed probation, completed various alcohol classes and have abstained from alcohol since. I wear contacts for -2.25 astigmatism, but otherwise have healthy eyes. Is it worth it for me to begin studying and take the AFOQT? Am I better off contacting an ANG recruiter or calling each squadron separately? I appreciate all i…

Hello all, this is my first post on the threads. I'm looking to get a pilot slot. I'd take c-17 or c-130, but I'd love to get into a fighter (f-15/f-16) slot. Here are my credentials: Age: 27 Degree: BS in Mechanical Engineering (3.2 GPA) from URI AFOQT: 99/99/99/98/95 PCSM: 94 Flying time: PPL with 80 hrs Currently an E6 in the RIANG with 10 years in Letters: Strong letter from sqd cdr (O5), strong letter from sxn lead (E8), good letter from sup (E8) I'd say I have good interview skills. I've never had a job interview from which I didn't get an offer. However, I've heard the interviews have more casual questions (tell me a joke, wh…

Hello all, Itโs been a dream of mine to fly and serve my country. Both my parents were special ops in the Air Force, one retired. Iโve grown up around the military lifestyle and have learned a lot through that time. Iโm wanting to serve in any branch that will take me for a pilot slot preferably fixed wing, no helos. Hereโs where Iโm at. - 24 years old with a B.S degree in business administration with a focus in logistics, 3.7 gpa. - ~18hrs towards my PPL with a solo. About to do my cross country. Hours will go up weekly, every two weeks money depending. - 3 LORโs, retired AF pilot, Store director (work), and executive (work). - No test scores yet. Been stud…

Hello all! I have been lurking these forums for awhile but now that I am done with all the major requirements I am wondering what my chances are. As a background, I am currently AD Enlisted and just submitted my application for a Rated/Non-rated slot with Rated being my preference for the 20OT01 OTS board. I am also thinking of applying to the ANG to keep all of my options open. From what I am aware, there is nothing to stop me from applying to both. If I were able to get a pilot slot, my preference would be ANG. What would be my chances for both of these options? AFOQT: Pilot - 87 / Nav - 80 / AA - 72 / Verbal -78 / Quanitative - 61 PCMS: 71 with 22 hours. 91 w…
