So, I gave the officer process a try back in 2016 and didn't get selected. My AFOQT scores were pretty bad 30s-50s. PCSM was a 10. I really didn't take the test as seriously as I should've. GPA wasn't great either, 2.6. (General Studies) Now, I've enlisted and leave for BMT on May 2nd. I'd still like to give like to give the officer process another shot. I'm going for pilot or CSO. My main concern however, is my age. I'm 25, so it doesn't look like I'll have too much more time to try and get selected." My current plans are to get a PPL once I'm in, and take a few courses towards my masters to raise my GPA. I'll also study harder and retake the AFOQT, but I'm…

Just wanted to get some feedback on chances for a pilot slot or CSO slot with the Reserves or ANG with the scores that I have, or if I should retake the AFOQT and get some flight hours. AFOQT Score P:54/Nav:74/AA:48/V:68/Q:32 B.A. in History GPA: 3.28 A little background on the total person, because I understand those scores are most likely lower than the average, I was a Division I swimmer and was captain my senior year. In addition I worked very closely with the Athletic Department and was a representative on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee as well as the Intercollegiate Athletic Board. I also coached swimming at the Club, High School, and C…

Just got my PCSM score back & finalized some applications. Figured I'd post here for some feedback. I'm a civilian, no prior military experience. PCSM: 74 with 16 flight hours AFOQT: 98 Pilot, 99 Nav. 95 Verbal, 76 Academic, 49 Quantitative GPA: 3.34 I know I hit it out of the park with the AFOQT Pilot & Nav. I don't have a great feel for PCSM--someone told me that above 70 was great. Thoughts? Thanks!

Hello all, I am interested in becoming a pilot for the USAF and looking to apply in the near future. I am 19 years old. I will graduate college next spring with my 4 year degree in Aviation Flight Science from Western Michigan, current GPA is about 3.5(think I can get it up to 3.7 by the end). I have my Private Pilot's License, Instrument rating, commercial license, and will soon have my multi and CFI. I have 150 hours of flight time. I have not taken TBAS or AFOQT, so I do not have a PCSM score for you guys. I have absolutely no criminal record or anything like that. I'm a healthy individual that is in decent shape. I currently hold a First class medical, I have had ver…

Ladies and Gents, I'm currently active duty USAF. I'm doing my level best to earn a pilot slot. I'm not keeping my eggs all in one basket. I'm looking at active USAF as well as ANG/AFRES. I'm also looking at the USMC. I haven't heard a whole lot from the USN. I'm studying Aeronautics at ERAU and my grad date is April 2019. That would put me at 30. Before graduating, I'm looking at going to ground school as well as getting at least 10 flight hours under my belt to improve my PCSM score. This is the dream. All that being said, I could potentially transfer to another university that will potentially put my grad date in April/May 2018. But, haven't hear…

Ladies & Gents, Been working on this awhile and finally saw the years ticking away on the calendar (about to be 27) so I got my act together. Took the AFOQT two weeks ago: Pilot 98 Nav 99 AA 82 Verb 83 Quant 72 That quantitative score hurt a bit, had several questions not in my study guides. Oh well! Then last Friday I finished my PPL - luckily passed the first time because apparently a checkride is $650 these days. TBAS is scheduled for tomorrow. I think I can get to ~80 flying hours before packets are due and hope that is good enough for a decent PCSM. Finished school in…

Howdy, First off, this is my first post but I am frequenter lurker of the forums. I try to absorb as much knowledge as I can from these forums as possible but I have come to a crossroads and would greatly appreciate some advice from folks within the military. I am a civilian pilot with a little over 300 hours, I'm a CFI and CFII with my commercial-multi who works out of the Bend, OR airport. I am about a year out from finishing my Bachelor's of Applied Science in Technology and Management (I understand this is a somewhat useless degree) and have an Associate's Degree in Aviation. I've maintained a fairly consistent 3.7 GPA throughout my studies while working two jo…

Age: 24 GPA: 2.85 Information Technology AFOQT: 98P / 99N / 84AA / 80V / 79Q PCSM: 75 with 0 flight hours. I am currently getting a few hours and will update my PCSM soon with 11 hours which will push it to 87. 4 LOR’s: 1 from my university programming professor, 2 from my current and former manager, and one from a retired O-5 AF Pilot. I am a civilian with no prior military experience. With my GPA, basically I was a knucklehead when I started college and did poorly; I lacked focus. Ended up temporarily quitting school in 2013 with a 1.5 GPA. I got married in 2015 and went back to school and busted my butt. I’ll graduate in May next year an…

Hey guys, I'm an army aviation captain (blackhawk pilot) with a couple years left on my contract looking at my options. My wife is Air Force, and we're considering a bridge transfer of myself to Air Force to stay together (she doesn't want to wear green). I want to see if any of the senior guys could help me answer some critical questions. 1. Is it possible to transfer straight into UPT (or would I need to even) from Army Aviation as an O-3? Or have you heard of army officers doing this? 2. If I come into AF/UPT as an O-3 with 3 years, will I be at risk for career progression (i.e. Never make O-5)? 3. Will being a H-60 driver pigeon-hole me into pav hawks…

Hi folks, I'm currently starting my final year of college also seriously considering retaking my AFOQT to try and improve my PCSM. AS of the moment, I am planning on commissioning FY18, but that may all change. Hear me out. I'm not really one to be tact so I'll just say this the best that I know how. At the moment, I have an RPA slot and as glamorous as the future of this career looks, it's not something I think I want for myself. That whole idea of flying in a box, disconnected from everything that has defined flying for the past century is something I am still not sure about. As of right now, my PCSM is at a 59. I've taken the TBAS twice and AFOQT onc…

I am trying to get a feel for what my chances are at obtaining a UPT position. I have been in the guard for 6 years, TSgt and I am a Weapons Director (GCI). I am 28 yrs old so I know time is almost over. Not too picky on what to fly, fighters would be awesome an although I have heard success stories with scores less than these those were probably isolated events. Other info below please share thoughts? Rank: TSgt Work: Mission Planning NCOIC Weapons and Tactics Shop, Weapons Director (also known as enlisted ABM) GPA: 3.91 AFOQT: Pilot: 87, Nav: 52, Ap: 40, Verbal : 44, Q: 39 PCSM: 68 with 7 flight hours Will continue building fli…

Good afternoon, I'm currently a 21 year old (22 in October) working on my package to be submitted when I graduate from my university. I been in touch with a recruiter and he told me that the Air Force OTS Rated Slots are only looking for Stem Majors. I surfed the internet web and found contradicting statements regarding his claim. If the recruiter's statement is false, I have listed my credentials and experiences below. It would be awesome if you guys can give me some feedback on how to improve my chances of being selected. Age: 21 (22 in October 2017) GPA/Major: 3.36 (can raise it to 3.4 before graduation)/ Marketing AFOQT Scores: I have yet to take…

I just applied to my first squadron, and I'd like to know how you guys think I stack up. Here are the numbers: GPA: 3.75 AFOQT: 92/77/50/60/43 PCSM: 67 Flight Hours: 27 Age: 28 LORs: 3; from current and former AF officers Obviously I need to get more flight hours and get that PCSM up. Flying and graduating college are my top priorities right now. I expect to have my PPL by the end of the year, and about 80 hours around that same time. I will continue to build hours until I get picked up by a unit. I know I'm cutting it close with my age; I'm going to keep pushing until I get hired. Thanks everyone.

Wanted to get advice on my chances with my scores and current situation. I'm currently a non-rated active duty O-3 in the Air Force trying to get picked up by a reserve heavy unit. I am 27 turning 28 in February, so age is getting close, but I am already over the 5-yr Total Federal Commissioned Services requirement and would need an Exception To Policy (ETP). I am only just now a month past my 5-yr date. I would also need to Palace Chase, if picked up in early 2018, and would be asking for 6 months off my current Active Duty Service Commitment. Undergraduate GPA: 3.35 Masters GPA: 3.38 (2/3 complete) AFOQT: P 97, N 99, AA 62, V 83, Q 42 PCSM: 89 w…

Im a prior service Army 68W (Healthcare Specialist/Combat Medic) E4 with an honorable discharge and reentry code 1. I served 4 years and recently separated this August. I do not have any article 15's or any negative UCMJ action. My previous commanding officers, (i.e. Company commander, Physician's Assistant, Scout Recon Platoon leader) have stated that they were more than willing to write LOR's in the future. I am 26 years old and I will be 27 in January. I do not have my Bachelors. I am back in school and I am pursuing my PPL. I currently have 14 flight hours. Obtaining flight hours is not the issue because I own an airplane. I will definitely be pushing the age li…
