Time to join the club. I'm still waiting for that coveted fighter interview! I know if I can just get one then I can sweep the board off its feet and get hired. Just one chance. Here are the scores Age 31 P 92 N 66 AA 45 V 68 Q 33 PCSM 99 Flight Hours 73 - PPL GPA 3.67 Germanic Studies LORS A sergeant in the Army, a Lieutenant in the Air Force, and my supervisor. I'm working real estate right now but I really want to serve my country, but only in a fighter. It might sound bad but if I don't get fighters then I do NOT want to be in the military, I would find another way to serve my country. My scores are pretty strong and GP…

Hi all, Age: 20 (Graduating May 2020) Private Pilot w/ 140 hrs PSCM: 90 (94 at 201) AFOQT: Pilot94, Nav89, AA92, Verb95, Quant81 Major: Economics (3.75 GPA) Letters of Rec: Ret. USAF Pilot, Director of Food Pantry where I volunteered, College Prof. Work Experience: Founded an Aerial Photography company in High School, Tennis instructor over the summer. Not sure exactly what I want to go for yet in terms of the airframe, so far I'm most interested in C130s, Fighters, and RSQ HH-60s but I can see myself getting excited about just about any military flying opportunity. Where do you all think I stand? How competitive am …

Hey everyone, So I bought the Trivium and Barron test prep books and am using the AFOQT study guide website to aid in preparing for the AFOQT, which I take in about a month. Are their any recommendations or additional products I should use or possibly discard from my current study materials to help me get good scores. The first time I tested I didn’t study at all (maybe 1 or 2 days) but this time I am giving myself about 1-2 months of prep. i retook the TBAS and did pretty good. My current pilot is a 49 w/ a PCSM of 18. Once I retest I will start accruing flight hrs.

hey everyone, this question is aimed towards those are/were involved UPT boards, but I'd appreciate the general input too. I have been, for some years preparing to apply for a UPT slot, I am 23, and I graduate in December, with a business degree from Embry-Riddle. I have a ton of work experience, for my age anyway. I can't take AFOQT until November unfortunately, so I won't have that number until then, but I am doing pretty good in the practice test. I will most likely apply to the ANG, and possibly the AF Reserve. I am Muslim. I am not naive. I know the mood is generally against Muslims and anything to do with them, thanks to the bastards in the ME and traito…

Last year (2010) I got into some trouble with the AF. Underage drinking. I was 20 years old, an E3. It happened off base, and it was later thrown out in court. The following duty day after it happened, I went to my first shirt and told her what happened. The commander and stuff got involved, but in the end all I got was an LOR. I wrote a rebuttal (which my shop chief read just today, and gave me props to how well written it was) and pretty much just told my commander what happened. I was at a nearby college, and wanted to make some friends, so I had a few drinks. At the end of the night I realized that I was NOT okay to drive, so I slept in my car, and a police officer fo…

I'm currently a USMC Capt flying AH-1Z's stationed at Camp Pendleton. I've got 1000 hrs and 2 deployments (1 to AFG, 1 to Oki with a MEU) done, and I'm looking at what else is available for me to do. So, I'm looking to see what my chances of transfering into the USAF as a pilot are, who I should talk to about it, and any idea of what it would entail. Additionally, how exactly would aircraft selection/training go? Coming from a Skid background (and just like everyone else I know) I'd like to fly the A-10 (or some other fighter), although I would look into any fixed wing. I actually did JSUPT at Vance and flew the T-6, although I don't think that would have any effect…

Right, so here are my numbers, AFOQT: 96/89/76/95/49 PCSM: 93 GPA: 2.82 Bachelor of Applied Science: Technology and Management. All my bachelor's classes were taken online while I was working on my parent's farm. I also have an associate's in professional aviation with a GPA of 3.2 if that means anything. Flight Experience: 299.2 hours. Private, multi, instrument, commercial, with high horsepower and complex endorsements. I'm also enlisted (E-3) with the unit I'm applying at. I work as an Airfield Manager in the OPS department, so I know the majority of the pilots on a friendly basis.

Greetings! I'm very early in the process but I wanted to know if I'm in a realistic situation where I can make this push for fighters. Im a prior service Army 68W (Healthcare Specialist/Combat Medic) E4 with an honorable discharge and reentry code 1. I served 4 years and recently separated this August. I do not have any article 15's or any negative UCMJ action. My previous commanding officers, (i.e. Company commander, Physician's Assistant, Scout Recon Platoon leader) have stated that they were more than willing to write LOR's in the future. I am 26 years old and I will be 27 in January. I do not have my Bachelors. I am back in school and I am pursuing my PPL. I currently have 14 flight hours. Obtaining flight hours is not the issue because I own an airplane. I will definitely be pushing the age li…

Hi, I plan to major in aviation because it is a really easy degree where I know I would be able to get a high gpa with. I plan to enlist in the Air National Guard throughout college and major in aviation with a high gpa. Also, i plan to learn spanish and have my instrument rating and private pilot license by time I graduate college. Would an ANG fighter unit choose someone who majored in aerospace engineering and has the same gpa as mine? Would they rather choose another person with a different degree? Is there certain college degrees they desire which can be a plus on your application? Would you reccomend me getting a degree in aviation or something else a fighter wing w…

I've put off making this thread for months. Back in December I took the AFOQT after almost a year of waiting. I studied my ass off for it and studied the way everyone said too. I purchased the Baron's book, the Trivium Book, the online practice test from AFOQT academy as well as several PDF files of AFOQT, ATSB, SIFT practice tests. To practice I used scan tron sheets to simulate the time and real testing environment. I took two weeks off of work up through the testing date to make sure I was fully prepared and had plenty of time to study. On practice tests, I was regularly getting 90s-100s on each subsection. I went and took the test, felt I did well and three weeks late…

I'd like to know if an Officer can be an ATC guy! I read on the AF.com site that there is a career choice called Air Traffic Control Mananger, exactly what does this position do, since it is considered a tech position, is the AF even recruiting tech guys! Thanks and sorry for another thread, i just need some advice, I'm coming up to my last few days before I pick something!

Hi folks, I know this might seem like a rather bold question, but I have searched quite a bit and haven't found the exact answers I am looking for. I thought this would be the place to ask before I start contacting units. I have seen on unit applications that there is an education exception to policy for applicants who do not have Bachelor's degrees but are "exceptionally qualified." The requirements were based on hours completed and GPA with the caveat of finishing a Bachelors within 4 years of commission. So here is where I am at currently, and why I see this as an opportunity. Personal Details: -2 Associates Applied Science in Aviation Maintenance. 4.0 GPA Board …

Morning Everyone, I am in need of some insight on my situation and I was told by numerous UPT students that this was the place to ask. I turned 24 this year in July, Married with 2 boys (2.5years old and 11 months old) and started college this year in May and I will have only 13 college credit hours at the end of this year. If I stay on track I can graduate with my bachelor's by the time I am 28-29. I am also currently acquiring my licenses, so I can fly as career no matter which path I take. I want to fly in the ANG/ Reserve with no previous military experience. My question is, am I too late to chase this dream? I spoke to a recruiter briefly on the phone…

Hey everyone. I just recieved a pilot slot on the 0504 board with a GPA of 2.61 and ZERO flight hours. People can give you their best guess at your odds/chances of getting picked, and many people here are really accurate. But, if you don't apply, you don't need a best guess to tell you your chances.

Hello guys, I'm starting AFROTC in Sept as an AS250. I'm just wondering... I have 10 tickets total, but they weren't given to me in 10 different occasions. For example, once I got pulled over and received 3 tickets for; tinted windows, expired exceptions, wrong insurance card (did have insurance though). I also received 2 parking tickets, my car has been towed twice, and camera red light. Every time I went to court, everything got dismissed. I went to the DMV and nothing came up on my driving record. Could this potentially ruin the chances of getting a UPT slot? Do they look at these things?

1st AFOQT Pilot Score: 87 1st PCSM Score: 83 @ 101-200 hour bracket....87 @ 201+ hours Post Retake of the TBAS without a change in flight hours: 89 @ 101-200 hour bracket....93 @ 201+hours For the guys that have retaken the AFOQT and have improved their AFOQT Pilot section, what did see for an increase in your PCSM score? What is a fair expectation of my PCSM score increase if I raise the AFOQT Pilot let's say to 90 or a 95? Also any pointers or words of advice to help increase the AFOQT pilot score would be appreciated.... I'm in the process of studying for a retake and I'm open for any suggestions. Thanks!

Hi folks, I'm currently starting my final year of college also seriously considering retaking my AFOQT to try and improve my PCSM. AS of the moment, I am planning on commissioning FY18, but that may all change. Hear me out. I'm not really one to be tact so I'll just say this the best that I know how. At the moment, I have an RPA slot and as glamorous as the future of this career looks, it's not something I think I want for myself. That whole idea of flying in a box, disconnected from everything that has defined flying for the past century is something I am still not sure about. As of right now, my PCSM is at a 59. I've taken the TBAS twice and AFOQT onc…

Wanted to get advice on my chances with my scores and current situation. I'm currently a non-rated active duty O-3 in the Air Force trying to get picked up by a reserve heavy unit. I am 27 turning 28 in February, so age is getting close, but I am already over the 5-yr Total Federal Commissioned Services requirement and would need an Exception To Policy (ETP). I am only just now a month past my 5-yr date. I would also need to Palace Chase, if picked up in early 2018, and would be asking for 6 months off my current Active Duty Service Commitment. Undergraduate GPA: 3.35 Masters GPA: 3.38 (2/3 complete) AFOQT: P 97, N 99, AA 62, V 83, Q 42 PCSM: 89 w…

So far I've interviewed 4 times over the last year and a half and haven't managed to land a slot. My last interview was a couple weeks ago for a Reserve slot. My guess is that I might have a couple more shots at Guard units since they don't have to wait until a Reserve board to know if they can hire me. Have you seen anybody get hired at 29?

Good morning! I've got a 17D (Cyber) AFSC which I was pulled into instead of pilot because "the AF needs cyber, not another pilot." When I applied in 2012, I had all the numbers according to my CC, but any and all electrical engineers were barred from admittance. So I'm trying again, but I'm fairly unsure of my chances given the AF's perceived need for cyber. I'm in the 2013 year group, which is not critically manned for cyber (go figure) and have been told pilot is critically manned. My other stats are as follows: AFOQT: 82 PCSM: 55 Undergrad GPA: 2.9 Awards: 2014 CGO of quarter (SQ, Group, CHQ levels), 2015 CGO of quarter (Sq, Group level), #2/5 Lts (Sq), #2/16 Lts (Gp)…

I'm 23yrs old, just got my Aerospace Engr degree with 3.28GPA. P:97 N:82 AA:70 V:44 Q:88 / PCSM 90 with 81hrs, 97 with 201hrs I know my verbal is weak, English is not my first language but I'm pretty fluent so don't feel that's an excuse (thoughts?). I have leadership experience as team lead of senior project, and on Formula SAE team. I've worked with civilian test pilots as an intern and recently started volunteering to help a mechanic fix GA aircraft. I'm still currently searching for a real fulltime job to give me more leadership experience, so work in progress. I want to go reserve/guard fighters, but I'm willing to apply to AD board. I know th…

How do they look at your college GPA when it comes to making a selection. Do they simply look at your overall GPA and that's it or do they analyze each individual class when they receive your transcript? Right now my GPA is only 2.87 mostly do to the fact in my Gen Ed classes I have gotten straight B's and two C's (In Music and Public Speaking). Would they see these grades and would it effect them> However, I think I can pull my GPA up when I take only my Business classes (I'm a business Admin major) because in my first two business classes I got pretty high A's. I have only two gen ed classes left. So If I do well in all of my business courses and my GPA is 3.5 or bet…
