My son tried his hardest on the AFOQT and took it twice while in ROTC. He scored in the 40 for all his sections except the verbal. Both times he missed the cutoff with the same score. He studied but I guess verbal was not his strongest. My question to this forum is if he goes enlisted and decides to go from enlisted to officer will he not be allowed to commission since he took the AFOQT twice at an earlier age? He is still going to stay in school and get his degree but wants to enlist and try to commission.

Well guys, I took the AFOQT for the second time and here are the results: Pilot 57, Navigator 49, Acad Aptitude 35, Verbal 64, Quantitative 16. PCSM 58. In other words, they suck. I still can take the TBAS one more time. My worry is going up against guys with scores in the 90s. Depending on how much weight the unit puts into the scores, I doubt I'll even get an interview. What say you guys? Quick recap of life experience: Undergrad in Justice Studies with a 3.8 GPA, Masters in Justice Administration with a 3.9 GPA, Operations Manager for an online Firearms company for the past 6 years, PPL with a bit over 100hrs, fly right seat in company aircraft, volunteer work with the…

I have tried to do everything I can to make myself a good candidate for UPT, as being an AF pilot has always been my dream. I think I did alright with all of it except for some of my AFOQT scores. I have been invited to interview at 2 units (wasn't selected), but have been passed over by the last 3 I have applied to, and I'm getting a little beaten down. I have been visiting the units i'm applying to for meet and greets and a drill or two if I can, and I feel like they go well. I'm a crew chief in the guard now and about a month away from 28 years old. What are my chances? Also, any advise is always welcome. I watch GuardReserveJobs and BogiDope for job announcements, if …

Confused on how I should feel on my chances at this time: Pilot: 99 Navigator: 83 Academic: 33 Verbal: 33 Quantitative: 39 PCSM: Waiting to come in. GPA. 3.67 I don't know what to think of my AFOQT scores at this time. I see them being very low and will be retesting at the 6 month mark to hopefully make them better. Any insight is welcomed. Thank you.

I seen a few people mentioned they used a tutor of Wyzant or another website and got great scores on the AFOQT. I want to use a tutor for my retake. Could someone post me the link of a tutor that they used?

  8. I'm in the process of putting my packet together to submit for the next board. I'm 28.5 right now. Was planning on submitting for the OTS 18OT03 board but got held up because of medical records at MEPS and had to submit an appeal to the SG. SG's office has FINALLY approved me for a physical so I'm knocking that out this week. Everything else is pretty much done. I took the AFOQT and TBAS in March (scores below), and I have 4 solid LOR. 2 are from O-5s and 2 are from O-6s. 2 pilots and 2 doctors, and 1 of the pilots is a NASA astronaut. If all goes well at MEPS all I'll have left is an officer interview. I've been doing a ton of research but there is seemingly NO inf…

I'm currently in the MIANG. Right now, I'm a traditional, fuel systems apprentice. I have always had a love for aviation, and kick myself for not pursuing it. I am about to be 28, the little credits I have towards college would be whatever they count from my active Army time, and Air Force training. Zero hours flying, but know of a school I'd use for my PPL. Do they do waivers for the age to be able to commission and shoot for it? Or is it just a dream/lost cause at this point in time?

Hi all, I’ve been waiting to post here with some fresh AFOQT/TBAS scores, but I still haven’t been able to sit for the test, so I figured I should start in the meantime. Once the recruiter heard my age (32), he balked at pilot talk, and went straight into pushing me toward CSO or Intel (neither of which I have interest in). Background: BS/MS Aero Eng. Entire post-college work history is govt. contracting, in Aero Eng. related fields. Oh, and my work site shares the airfield with the Guard unit I am most interested in (what I’m getting at, is they know the group I work for, and that I know what the locality entails). The past couple of years I’ve been workin…

Does anyone have any insight on the subject? I am currently 32 already.. I know kind of late in the game but I do know of at least one guy who has acquired a UPT age waiver that was my age. I am a TSgt in the AF reserves and also a C-5M flight engineer and a prior C-130H FE. I will have my degree 95-100% complete by December of this year, still have yet to take the AFOQT and TBAS but am beginning to study for it. Also have PPL with instrument rating and 200 hours flight time, currently working on a commercial single-engine rating. I'm not holding my breath but I am willing to put in the effort to submit a pilot package with the reserves/guard if its possible to get th…

This is my first post here. I am currently in an Army Unit as an ANG enlisted guy. I'm no longer at a Wing, so I have limited resources available to talk to not only AF guys, but also Pilots. I am bound in a 3 year tour with this unit (2 left), but I want to get on the power curve early to make any changes to make myself more marketable. The following are my stats. Current stats- Age: 23 AFOQT: 98 Pilot, 70 Nav, Mid 80s everything else PCSM: 78 Flight Hours: 14 Degree: A.A.S. in Emergency Management (Graduate in May with a B.A. in Emergency Management) Misc: ALS, NCOA, Eagle Scout, SSgt By the time 1st AGR tour is done (**denotes 50/50 chance)- Age: 25 a…

  14. Hi, I plan to major in aviation because it is a really easy degree where I know I would be able to get a high gpa with. I plan to enlist in the Air National Guard throughout college and major in aviation with a high gpa. Also, i plan to learn spanish and have my instrument rating and private pilot license by time I graduate college. Would an ANG fighter unit choose someone who majored in aerospace engineering and has the same gpa as mine? Would they rather choose another person with a different degree? Is there certain college degrees they desire which can be a plus on your application? Would you reccomend me getting a degree in aviation or something else a fighter wing w…

I posted over a year and a half ago and after many delays I have more things to show but do want to gauge where I stand in all this. Goal: F15 Unit. I think I'd also find enjoyment with an F22 unit but there are a small handful of these on the Guard & Reserve side combined. I've also given some thought on to applying for a C-17 unit (heavy) or a UH-60 unit (rotor). At a critical age, 25 and want to go balls to the wall but also be strategic as well with getting a slot. I am wondering if I should enlist in a guard unit or try my chances with AFRC which I heard the odds are really good getting a slot. I think OTS is out of the question with these scores. Afoqt scores, taken twice but got the okay for a 3rd attempt after 150days (Form T waiver) Pilot :83 Nav: 36 Acad: 34 Verb:47 Quant :26 B.A. 3.59 GPA PCSM is 75 with 72 flight hours, but will max to 87 at 201 flight hours.

Quick background story is I have 14 years time in service (7 active duty and 7 Air National Guard) Currently I am a full-time guard technician. I am a 33 year old SMSgt (I know quick). I recently took my AFOQT and was shocked by the scores: P95, N99, AA93, V94, Q83. Also got ABM98 and CSO99. I have my degree in Business Administration with a GPA of 3.62. I have 0 flight hours and took the TBAS, my PCSM score is only 34...pretty bad and considering a retest. I know I am too old for a rated pilot position, but I am interested in the RPA route. If anyone has any info or experience in a similar situation let me know. Bonus points, most positions I am seeing that are adverti…
