This one's gonna hurt, boys and girls.... https://www.afrc.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123288641 Here's a summary of the changes: "Barksdale AFB, La. - Drawdown one Air Force Reserve Command squadron by retiring 18 A-10 aircraft as part of the FY13 president's budget. Also, retire three other A-10s in fiscal 13 that were previously slated for retirement and awaiting to be transferred. Transfer three remaining A-10s to Whiteman AFB, Mo. Have any of you seen the AFRC bonus programs online for FY16? Is the $10k affiliation bonus still available? Is the $25k pilot bonus available to those with more than 16 years of active service (like it is for active duty bubbas starting this year)? Can these two bonuses be received concurrently? This is specifically in reference to an AGR opportunity I may or may not be looking into. Thanks for the help.

  5. This may sound a bit out of the box/left field. Hypothetically speaking, would it be conceivable, if I were an Individual Reservist/IMA in a given squadron, could I work out an arrangement to request active-duty orders to cover me while I pay for my own flight training in the hopes of completing all my ratings in order to streamline the process and make myself competitive for a board? The only cost would be salary and NOT flight training, which would be covered (in this case) by GI Bill funds.

C-17 and KC-135 EP O-5 AGRs at Robins. Open 'til filled. Three year order with possible one year extension. Great way to Palace Front or beat the first year pay blues. PM me if interested.

Today I heard from a unit POC that the AFRC has said there will be absolutely no age waivers approved for Reserve UPT slots. I trust that its honest feedback but has anyone else heard anything along those lines?

I posted a similar thread over on the general forum (see below) but in light of new info I wanted to post it here. We are being told that AFRC, and AFRC alone has interpreted the following JTR paragraph 0203 "Per diem allowance rates are based on the TDY location, stopover point, or other authorized official duty points, but not on lodging location. Ordinarily per diem is based on a travellers TDY location at 2400 hours (midnight)" as meaning that if we are on an out and back from Ramstein to say, Kandahar, if we cross midnight while enroute to Kandahar/Bagram, etc or while on the ground at Kandahar that we get Kandahar per diem even though we are returning to Ramstein…

In light of personal life changes… Is it possible for an AFRC pilot to take an assignment with an RPA unit for a few years and return to flying later down the road? I understand this would require attending RPA training and mission qual and then further training if I ever want to fly manned aircraft again.

Hi all, I know that the Reserves used to have the unsponsored UPT program and I heard that they pretty much shut that down in 2020, but with things getting back to somewhat normal, are there any plans to bring that program back? I'm not sure if they shut it down because of covid or because the program wasn't that helpful for getting new pilots. Any gouge is much appreciated, thanks guys!

Does anyone know where the money actually comes from for unsponsored guys going thru UPT? I would assume that OTS, IFS, and the T6 phase are centrally funded by AFRC. Does the T38/T1 phase and B course funding come out of the sponsoring (assigned) unit's funds or is it still centrally funded?

Does anyone have any updated info on this? About a year ago I started hearing about a plan to introduce more AGR positions in Reserve squadrons. From what I heard the majority of full timers would still be ARTs but there would be a few AGRs sprinkled in.

I've already burned my MGIB-30 in the 1990's and am now totaling up what I can receive under Post 9/11 The Post 9/11 GI bill current eligibility standards Qualifying active duty includes: – Full-time duty in the Armed Forces, other than active duty for training – A call or order to active duty under section 688, 12301(a), 12301(d), 12301(g), 12302, or 12304 of Title 10 • Active duty periods may begin at any time, however, only portion served after 09/10/01 can be used to establish eligibility Based on the above, does this mean I can tally up all my Man days (MPA), Active Duty for Special Work, deployments, etc. and use these for benefits? OK, I know the traditional Guardsman does not normally receive retirement pay unitl they are 60, but, my question is this, based on a statement I heard the other day... If you have 20 full years of retirement points (365 x 20 yrs) and you retire, do you start drawing pay immediately? Example: Let's say you join the reserve component off AD, you've got about 10 years in, you're on MPA tours for a year or so, and then in the next 15 years or so you get those 9 full years of points, so at the end of 26 years, you've got your full load of 20 years worth of points. Can I retire the next day and get a check two weeks later?

Does anyone know any unsponsored AFRES folks going through ENJJPT currently/recently graduated? I’ll be classing up soon and have a few questions about how it all works in terms of rushing units while in training. I was told there’s a liaison assigned that helps get in contact with units? If still unsponsored at the end, how does the dream sheet/assignment work?

All, looking for some guidance. I am looking into doing the Academy ALO program which is a category E, points only program. My question is in regard to rank. If you are an O-4 Are you allowed to continue to 20 years or do you have to make 0-5 to get to 20?

Has anyony gone to the AFRES national board un sponsored and been given a slot? I am on the sponsorship hunt and have been calling AFRES units all over the nation, with no success. I have a fully completed package that I am trying to get in the right hands of people and they just blow me off. I figure if I can get a slot through the national board, then at least units will return my phone calls and e-mails. It seems like a much selling point saying "yeah I already have a pilot slot all you have to do is let me hang out for a while, realize I am not a D-Bag, and sign the sponsorship papers" I know it is a slim chance but has anyone here done this.

I've seen a few threads about ANG to AFRES transfers, but none the other way around. I've asked a couple people what the transfer process would be, and most just say "harder than AFRES unit to AFRES unit." Can anyone provide some details or advice on how to go about such a transfer? I'm a pilot still in my ADSC, at a Reserve unit, looking to go to a Guard unit with a different aircraft much closer to home. I guess the trickiest part (besides getting interviewed and hired by the new unit) would be getting released by my present unit, correct? Any other advice would be appreciated.

I have done a search on “unsponsored slots” and have found a lot of useful info. However, I can’t find the answer to this Question: say I go to the AFRES HQ board unsponsored and get a slot. Do I have a time limit to find a unit to call “home” or can I take my sweet A$$ time and wait until the unit I want is look for UPT’s

I am a freshman in college in the ROTC program. I was just wondering out of the ROTC or the Guard/Reserve, to get a pilot slot, are both equally competitive? I am just looking at other options that I may have to join and fly Military. I would not mind being an Officer in the Air Force. But the unknown of what I will be doing up until Big week is kinda getting to me. Could I have a more concrete answer as to what I would be doing if I applyed Guard/Reserve? I hear they would hire me, ots, UPT, and all this time the unit is checking up on me seeing how I am doing, and during UPT I know what I will get out to fly. That sounds appealing to me. I just dont know. What are your …

Has anyone getting ready to retire had their age 60 rollback calculated by MPF? Did they do it correctly? Or did you have to dig out every set of orders you ever did since 2008? On another note there is a change to allow the age 60 rollback to go as far back as age 50 now, not 55. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
