Hi, I am an active duty army officer, trying to apply for 2021 Active Duty UFT. In the application submission instruction it says an application packet should be submitted through a myPers Questionnaire page. However, I get the error message saying they have a trouble accessing personnel data. I can’t even get to the questionnaire to fill out and submit my packet. I spoke to IT as well, waiting for their response. I know that I don’t have any personnel data in myPers. Does anybody know who has submitted the application via myPers questionnaire from other branches rather than the Air Force? Any suggestions are much appreciated. Good Luck, everyone.

I know a bit about how the two differ, but what about getting in? I know that the ANG in particular seems to like to hire from within, but how does one get hired into the guard as a pilot off the street? I have about four units (mostly KC135) in the west and northwestern U.S. that I'd like to shoot for but I see a bit of a roadblock in trying to get in to the guard when you're not from the unit. I guess the answer is "be a good dude" and do the best you can, but can it realistically be done if you're not from that unit?

When developing your package in ROTC for the Active Duty board, are there any factors that are put into your package that are outside of ROTC? Things like being a president of a student organization or any other type of leadership position. Was just curious so that I can prepare for the future.

I am a pilot select waiting to go to OTS and am wanting to prepare for UPT as much as possible. I am currently working out preparing for OTS but was wondering at the beginning of UPT if I'm wanting to go fighter/bomber do I have to lift a certain amount of weight to qualify? Currently I'm not lifting heavy but will start if I need to qualify

I recently interviewed "Hacker" Haskin about his time as a UPT student, UPT IP and IFF IP (amongst other things!). He shared a range of advice and thoughts across about four hours of chatting. Those looking to go to UPT might find it interesting:

I'll be going for my PPL this summer and am thinking a LOR from my flight instructor would be valuable and will add some diversity to my package that is otherwise largely academic. I am hoping to finish in no more than 45 hours (21 hours currently), so I'd probably have 20-25 hours with this guy. My question is: Is it appropriate to let him know on day one my intentions and, more specifically, that I may request a recommendation from him if all goes well? My line of reasoning is that such a preamble would allow for specific anecdotal information to be more readily committed to memory for use in a possible recommendation. Then again, maybe this is completely inappr…

Hey all, I was told by my recruiter a little over a month ago that OTS 16OT04 Rated Board is scheduled to begin meeting today, 7/25/16. I just wanted to know of anyone can confirm this. Additionally, I was reading how the results for the AD Board usually takes between 3 and 4 weeks for results to be announced.... is this the same for OTS? I'm sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere, I'm just an anxious applicant seeking to cope. -Pilot Applicant

I have heard conflicting information as to whether or not applicants for a pilot slot before attending OTS require or do not require a technical degree. Also, I have heard that there are moratoriums on applicants with non-technical degrees that eventually sunset. If such a caveat is in effect now, will it eventually lapse?

Got a buddy who wants to know if his son can apply to the USAF for a pilot slot with a GED. He graduated college so he has his bachelors but when in high school he dropped out for 2 months and then had to pursue the GED. I looked for some regs but came up short. Some other people have told me that he can't but figured I would ask around. Thanks

Can anyone confirm whether this is true or not? I had recently heard through the rumor mill that your best AFOQT scores (except pilot and nav) will be the ones that count after your second retake. Has anyone else heard this? Meaning if you scored a 50 on verbal your first test but a 30 your second the 50 will be the one that counts.

AF24 states, "AFOQT SCORES (Only AFTCOs or Unit Commanders are authorized to enter scores)." Obviously this seems to state I cannot enter my scores on my own for this form. Does anyone have some better info on filling this out? I ask because I have worked with two recruiters and they have both been incredibly non responsive. I would really prefer to not have to try to track them down just to have my scores entered. Has anyone entered these themselves? Where any issues brought from this?

I am not sure if this has been posted here before. Searching through the forums, there have been only a few, scattered references in revived threads. I have not seen the memo attached. I found this memo from HQ A3 granting a blanket age waiver for RPA pilot applicants. This particular one is for active duty but I have called around to ANG and Reserve units to see if they are following suit. I have a memo from the NG Bureau stating that they will. Up until recently, individual ANG units were making their own call on it. Units that were doing well in manning and applicants told me they were not. Others that had less personnel were following the AD policy.…

After pursuing the whole "Guard is the best kept secret" route to earning my wings with no avail for the past year, I bit the bullet and called up the line officer recruiter to put in an app for an OTS pilot slot, reason being is AD is so backed up, rated board in June of 2021, OTS dates not until Summer 2022, UPT probably Fall 2022, I wanted to get that clock started in the background while I continue shot gunning apps to Guard/Reserve units. I told the recruiter I had applied to a couple UPT boards with the guard and he said he can't push my AD application in that case, it has to be one or the other, and essentially if I get picked up at the rated board there's no…

Trying to understand how the slot process works for the guard/ reserve units. How do units receive their slots every year? My assumption would be that its passed down through budget and if so does that come down at the beginning of every fiscal year? Also how does that couple with a unit having a reserved spot in the training pipeline for a new hire? Ive heard of people getting selected, sent to wright pat quickly, and then having to wait for training dates, does the FC1 process run off a separate budget/ queue?

Just curious of those of you out there who got picked up after applying and interviewing multiple times at the same squadron and eventually got picked up? I’ve read some of you applied 3, 4, even 5 times before being hired. I’m seeking inspiration to do the same. Care to share any of your success stories? Thanks!!!

Good morning to all, In late September, I went up for the Rated Supplemental Board and unfortunately, was not selected. I found this out in late September. The thing is, I retook my AFOQT awfully close to the Supp. Board date. Although most might dismiss the possibility of my scores still making the board, it should be noted that my scores actually came out in 6 days, as such, that possibility should be increased to some respect. My PCSM went from a 59 to a 76. Here's the timeline to help with my story. Timeline: 16 Feb - Received RPA (PCSM was 57 when sent to board) 9 Aug - TBAS retake (PCSM improves from 57-59) 13 Sep - AFOQT retake …

Hi all, thanks for providing such a great place for learning and guidance. I did lots of searching across the boards and still had a few questions on the ANG/Res hiring process coming from the civilian side. Some context: 31, part 121 airline captain w/ 4 yr degree, needs LASIK or PRK. Living local-ish to 3 heavy units. 1. I read that this time of year is normally quiet for UPT board announcements because it's just past the fiscal year end; should we expect to see a number of new FY21 UPT postings over the holiday season? (alt question: are heavy unit boards usually 1/year?) 2. I'd like to knock out the AFOQT+TBAS asap. With COVID, is the quickest way st…

I recently commissioned and am in the RPA pipeline. I am excited about the possibility within the RPA community, but my dream has always been to be a pilot. Does anyone here have any experience X-training to pilot from CSO, RPA, or ABM that I can PM a few questions. Thanks!

Dudes/Dudettes, I recently learned I was selected to trade my stripes for bars and attend UPT. I've learned a great deal from this forum. A lot of the info helped me be successful at the board and I know I will continue to learn from the grey beards in this community. I dont have have much else to say besides thanks for the guidance and answering whatever stupid questions I've asked and will continue to ask. I'm off to sharpen my popcorn making skills!
