Hey everyone, My girlfriend and I were in a little car accident and I've been helping pay for her medical bills and it's really been adding up quite a bit. I'm in a battle with insurance right now to get reimbursed, but between that and getting my PPL, I've racked up quite a bit of credit debt. My debt to income with O1 pay will still be less than 40% and I will be able to pay off a lot of it in due time. I still have good credit and no late payments. Will I get a chance to explain this to the background investigator? I'm worried that I'll be denied security clearance because of the debt but really it's just bad timing.

Just saw the Mypers announcement this morning... Air Force is rolling out two UFT boards for active duty officers this year and launching a new prep program for bubbas who are qualified with less than 5 flight hours. Good news all around for people applying this year.

Gents, I'm talking to a recruiter about becoming a pilot for the USAF. He told me that my eligibility for UPT could be considered without committing to the USAF. This seems a little too good to be true. Anybody know if he's exaggerating or just flat out lying? (I meet all requirements of becoming an officer). Thanks Leon

Good Morning Aviators! I am a senior in high school, and I want to pursue a fighter pilot career, but have some questions. I am planning on enlisting into my local ANG unit to give me a leg up when applying for the UPT board. Reading these forums, i've seen that the best enlisted jobs to have to get close with the pilots and learn about the aircraft would be crew chief, LM, and life support. I am looking for some insight on these jobs (been there done that). Is there a way to attend tech school and go to college (taking online classes), or am I going to have to do a gap year for basic and tech school? What is tech school like for any of the jobs/ how long…

What happens between different phases of training - i.e. the gap between OTS and UPT, or UPT and survival school, or whatever. How long are these gaps typically? Would I just remain at my home station during this time?

If selected for a pilot position, your obligation to the Air National Guard will be 10 years of service upon completion of training. You will be required to fly at least 4 sorties per month, attend 1 drill weekend each month and be available for off base deployments each quarter. This application workbook contains information regarding your application for Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT) with the Maine Air National Guard in Bangor. It contains the eligibility and application requirements. It also includes all of the important information that you will need to be considered for an interview. Questions regarding the application process may be directed to the Recruiti…

I'm ready to get my package signed, my physical is done, no waivers, and want to go RPA. I'm trying to get leadership approval to get released from my AFSC just prior to my Code 55 expiring in Dec' '14 if I get selected. However, the PSDM says that the applicant needs to be ready for release on a short notice assignment "as early as April 2014". I am CONUS & operational right now, the only way I'm going to get leadership push is if the release can be delayed until at least Sep '14 and beyond. It's just too costly for them to relase me in April 2014 as far as manning goes and my code 55. Yet worse, if I do not apply on this board, and wait until next yea…

Is there a time period to wait after taking the AFOQT to take the TBAS? I have heard and read mixed information about it. I'm obviously trying to get an accurate PCSM score but with out my AFOQT scores posted should I wait to test? I took the AFOQT a week ago. Thanks

So I've heard a lot on foxnews and wantscheck.com that there will be a shortage of fighter pilots in the years to come because of higher paying commercial jobs and so on. Can anybody going the active duty route shed some light on this? I'm in my last year of trying to go guard for fighters and if there is a way to get track selected for 38s and fly eagles or vipers before going to OTS/UPT, tell me where to sign. Sounds too good to be true but any info on this would be useful. Thanks guys!

Heard some rumble of changes in UPT with things like timelines and evaluations, anyone have any insight? Just curious what they’d be changing to increase production.

Got this question in my email and couldn't answer it: Does anyone know what group the AFOQT scores are "percentiled" against? Is it that current crop of test takers (ex: all test takers in Fall 2016)? All takers who have ever taken that same test form? Some other subset? I know the old Form S scores were re-centered on fall 2014 scores. I am wondering about the scores for new test takers. Thanks.

Alright guys, i am currently a civilian pilot and have come to realization that I will be bored doing the same thing till i'm 65. I have been applying to Guard/Reserve squadrons in the mean time. Anyway, I am curious if the AF or Navy has better chances of tracking fighters in the training pipeline? This seems to be a AF heavy forum group so if there are any Navy bros/broettes out there that have some insight that would be great. Calling recruiters to set up the AD process this week. I understand it comes down to luck and the needs of the branch but besides that does the Navy or AF have better chances of tracking fighters in training? Thanks

Hello all,I plan on applying for the 18OT02 active duty board and had a question. I want to apply for a rated slot but because I got hit with a surprise deployment in July of this year I have not been able to take the TBAS as required to apply for rated. As such, I plan on applying for this next board as a non rated applicant on the advice of my chief saying that I can also try to become a pilot after OTS selection and that now would be the best time for me as we have the support of my group leadership and above to get the 2star to sign off on my LOR and that may change by the time the next AD board rolls around because our group leadership will have changed. My question …

Good evening aviators. Been reading forums, and I couldn't find specific info for these questions, other than do your best and the scores will handle themselves. When picked up from an ANG unit for fighters, are you guaranteed to track select t-38's? I understand that you can be forced into t-1's from t-38's if you arent making "fighter grades" in UPT, but how badly do you really have to be doing to get switched tracks? is it possible to get picked up by a unit for fighters, make fighter grades, and not track t-38's because there's not enough t-38 slots in a class? I am a long way from UPT (not assuming i'm even going to get picked up by a unit), but I…

OK.. this is kinda similiar to the two questions posted below.. perhaps not to the same extent but still breaking the law. (I did do a search on "speeding ticket" but the result was mostly for those already in the military.) I got my first speeding ticket about 2.5 months ago. Was doing 108 in 70 zone. I'm not proud of it, I was a knucklehead and unsafe as well (though, the only reason that allowed me to drive that fast was that I was the lone car on the road.) It's kinda ironic because I was on my way to see my accessions officer and when he asked me if I had any citations/arrests I had to say, until today, no. Anyway I do care about my future career as a pilot.. but …

If I apply to this board, but I graduate in December , will they still accept my package for selection? I was told packages are due 23 NOV, and my grad date is 20th DEC. Looking to go active duty pilot slot if the unit I'm interviewing with doesn't hire me in a few weeks. Sent from my XT1058 using Tapatalk

I am an AFROTC cadet graduating in May with a pilot slot, I was curious if anyone had info on how EAD and pilot training dates work? Can you request dates to go to pilot training/EAD? Can you trade dates with other pilot slot selections? I am asking because I would like to use up my full year before I EAD so I can get my masters. Thanks in advance for your response!

I am thinking about applying for the FY21 OTS boards and I just wanted to assess how the acceptance rates will be for upcoming boards. I ask because I have noticed a pattern. ~2012 there was the sequestration and the acceptance rates for anything in the USAF fell to all time lows. A void was created and needed to be filled. 2016-2019, these four years saw acceptance rates rise and peak around the '18-'19. A buddy of mine who was in AFROTC tells me pilots acceptance rates was as high as 90%. The USAF then started having problems with classes being overfilled and candidates having their EADs pushed back creating a ripple effect. 2020, I just a…

Hey guys. I am an AD OTS/Pilot selectee, awaiting an OTS class date. At what point during the process does one find out their a) UPT base, b) IFT date, and c) UPT date? I ask because access to that information will inform my decision of when to PCS my family back from OCONUS. For instance, if I wont find out my UPT base until halfway through OTS, then clearly I can not PCS them beforehand. Thanks!

Hey All, Does anyone know of a good book or resource to practice instrument comprehension for the AFOQT? I have 3 different test books and they all have the outdated version of the the instrument comprehension visuals. I.E where bank is opposite the black arrow where as now the AFOQT uses an actual attitude indicator so the arrow indicates your actual bank. I know how to read these for sure but I want to just get a feel for how fast I can read them in a timed environment.

Hi there, I've been selected to interview with the 106th RQW. I am beyond excited and preparing as well as I can. There will be a meet and greet followed by a formal interview the next morning. I've read that it's important to report in and I was wondering if that applies to civilian candidates as well. I'm guessing not, and my recruiter never said a word about it but I was also thinking that it could show that I've done my homework and am putting in the effort to do things "right". However, I also don't want to show any disrespect or cause any confusion. Is it weird if I report in? (e.g. "Candidate Garcia reports as requested")

How difficult is it or how lucky does someone have to be to land a HH60 slot? If you are doing well at UPT and leadership knows thats the airframe you want is that something they can work on? Or is it basically just perfect timing on a drop?
