I was just wondering, is it possible/how hard is it to get a C-21 slot right out of UPT? I would think that if it is possible to do, it would be pretty competitive. Any info would be great. Thanks.

Next time someone says an Air Force pilot doesn't know what he's bombing, show them this Laser Guided Awesome video showing a nice view of laser guidance against a group of insurgents. Evidently the insurgents were chased out of the "safe house" and when they were on the street were bombed with a 500lber. Makes me want to get in the fight. [ 20. Just thought I'd share the excitement w/ my fellow BOPS'ers. I went to Beale today and got a ride in the chase-car for the U2 (along w/ some sqdnmates) while he was doing some pattern work. It was AWESOME! One of the coolest things I've done in a LONG time. (I guess I don't get out enough...) It was very cool rolling down the RWY at 120 (in a GTO), right behind the U2. I've had the opportunity to do it for several years now, but never bothered. Now I wish I'd have done it sooner. If any of you ever get the chance to do it, do it. You won't be disappointed.

I have 800K of life insurance through AAFMAA for $35/month and $300K through AFA for about $16/month. I also have $400K of SGLI, which happens to be the most expensive of the three. $1.5 million is a little excessive for us, is there any reason why I shouldn't cancel SGLI? My one concern is that I trust SGLI will be quicker and more reliable in paying than AAFMAA and AFA. AAFMAA and AFA don't have a war or aviation clause, and as near as I can tell they are both legitament companies, however, I don't really know if there is some small print that I didn't read in the coverage that will preclude my family from getting the death benefit. Any input? Thanks

question for real AF dudes rotc is bustin my balls and i think that if rotc is an accurate sample of the real AF then i am pissed-between the article 17s and the gay mandatory briefings-75 percent of my classmates are anti social non fun seeking douche nozzles-love the mission-what happened to the good ol days ive heard about-is there hope for a good time ahead-do flyers still love to party?

Am I allowed to report into UPT early? If so, how early can I/ should I? Is there some AFI that says how early I can report in to UPT? I am just anxious to get started. Any help in the matter would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Heres a link to a pretty good video... unfortunately its on a liberal indy-media site that calls the attack "murder." What is funny though, is that the longer version is very incriminating but the short version (made by the host) actually looks like the attack is unwarranted. Read the comments below, its good for killing some time (no pun intended). https://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2004/01/284086.html [ 12. April 2006, 09:18: Message edited by: trailmix ]

Looking for recommendations on schools that have masters programs for people who are tdy alot. Looking for something like Aviation Safety or Management. I guess it would have to be an on-line program or correspondence at best.

This might affect some Guard guys... Can anyone confirm/deny this? If true, this is the best of example of (mis)management BS. This memo supposedly from ALPA, not Delta.

Did anyone on here look into flying for the Coast Guard prior to going in the Air Force? I'm not saying that have it better by any means, but it seems they are doing 'real' missions more often b/c there is always somebody that needs help in the ocean. Does anyone know of a Coastie aviator that I could talk to? Thanks. Thought about posting this in pilot selection, so sorry if it's on the wrong forum...not trying to open a can of worms either on this one...

From what I've read, there is a 6-7 month wait for WSO/NFO-select's before they class up for API at P'Cola. Funny thing is, I've got a class start and graduation date on my orders. Any P'Cola LT's know if these dates mean anything or will I report to P'Cola and drop into A-pool like everybody else? Does it make a difference if you're an AF LT vs. a Navy ENS? And, yes, I would post this on airwarriors.com but their server is a piece and keeps timing out.

I've heard of some pretty sweet living arrangements that people have had while on Active Duty (i.e. on a beach, next to a castle, etc...). Wondering if anyone on baseops has ever lived in any unique/  very cool places while in the military- Thanks, Jp-

I've heard of some sweet assignments flying C-12's for the State Department in Africa and South America. I know about the remotes to Korea, but that is not what I am interested in. I searched the AFPC website, but found nothing. Anyone know where I can get some gouge, or any good people to talk to?

Not so much AF related (unless you have been to one of many base open houses), but Sean Tucker Crashed his Oracle Biplane yesterday. The good news is that he got out ok! Sounds like the stick broke off. Oracle Crash A nationally known aerobatics pilot had to ditch his plane in Red River Parish this morning after the aircraft's control stick broke. Sean Tucker parachuted safely -- despite getting tangled briefly on part of the plane after getting out of the cockpit. The single-engine stunt plane crashed in a field near the Red River-Natchitoches Parish line. Red River Sheriff Johnny Ray Norman said Tucker was in town to visit friends while on his way to …

A question to the old hats, especially the fighter dudes and former FAIPs: Does flying ever become fun again?

Here's a kiss-my-butt/goodbye posting from a jarhead aviator. I'm not going to comment on it, but it sure is an interesting read. https://austin.craigslist.com/about/best/wdc/118782492.html [ 04. April 2006, 20:56: Message edited by: LJDRVR ]

Alright, we need to make a decision basically tonight about this, so any help is greatly appreciated. My wife is moving out to Tucson tomorrow. She was originally going to an apartment that I got for her up in the north part of town, with a lease ending in February, at which time we were going to either move on base anyway or possibly look around for a house to buy (expensive). Well I decided to call the housing office out there today to see what the waiting list was like, and the lady told me they have a three bedroom 1200 sf house they could give my wife TOMORROW with a copy of my orders (I'm TDY enroute for another few months). So here's my question: does anyone h…

https://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=1025605 I'm voting for photoshop. The jet's exactly the same height above the ground it would be if the gear were extended. There's no blur which one should see if the photographer was panning to keep a 300 knot AC in his viewfinder. No heat signature. Don't know enough about fighters to comment on nozzle position. It also looks like he's offset from the centerline. (#2 in a taxiing formation?) I'm just a stupid airline pilot, but if I were beating up some airfield at 300 knots or better, I'd be glued to the centerline. Discuss... [ 02. May 2006, 05:33: Message edited by: Toro ]

I'll be down at Randolph for nav training in early June. I'm wondering if anybody knows what the current BAH rate is. It could really help me out while I'm looking for possible places to stay online. Also, for those of you who had to live off base at your first duty location and had no aquaintances in the area, did you live alone or with a roommate? Is permissive TDY enough time to find a roommate? I can see some definite advantages to living with a roommate who is going through nav training at the same time, but I don't know if its worth the hassle of finding one and hoping they are a good one. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Edit: There are alr…
