Well I found out that I will be on Casual at Maxwell AFB for 8 months before I head off to pilot training. Can anyone tell me what there is to do around Montgomery? I lived there while my dad was in the Navy, but for only 10 months and I was in the 1st grade at the time. Is it really as bad as everyone says it is? So far the top things to do on my list are: visit old elementary school and visit old house. Thanks in advance!!

I have a lot of speeding tickets. A (civilian) security manager at an ANG fighter unit recently told me that I can obtain a TS clearance to fly Hercs, tankers, etc. but I wouldn't be able to obtain a TS to fly fighters. I was under the impression that a TS is a TS, regardless of platform. Is it true my driving record would receive more scrutiny from OPM as a fighter UPT selectee? [ 02. I know that I'm going to get chewed and spit out for this but oh well. (I did read the other 1 thread on this board about OSI) Anyone have any info on OSI for me? I've learned what I can from the internet so not much help there, unless I'm missing some sites. I've met with the only AFOSI agent in my state once but she was given a 2 week deployment notice and now is in Iraq. I've tried emailing their "info" personnel but haven't heard anything back. I'm mainly looking for selection info, what they take into account, what's most important etc. I know about the actual timeline, but not what's important and what makes someone marketable for the job. Anything you…

Anyone here tackled a law degree as a Guard or reserve pilot? Im in that position to start next year, and wondering how it all works out. Were you able to keep the flying to a sat. level? Not looking forward to it by the way, but something to fall back on!

Couldn't find a way to integrate this into my text on UPT. Any suggestions? I particularly like that he wats to find a woman who he can go on a bike ride with. Perhaps what he actually said was that he wants a woman who likes to be ridden like a bike? Damned journalists. Cosmo UPT stud

I'm a few weeks away from receiving my UPT assignment and have found out we have the opportunity to put down a preference for our FTU location after IFF. I've been unable to find anyone at my squadron who's spent any time at the Guard FTU in Klamath Falls, and was hoping I could get some first hand information from some of the guys on this board. Is that part of Oregon a nice place to live for the 6-9 months you'll be there? How does it compare to the "Redneck Riviera" that is Panama City? Appreciate the info.

I've used the search function, but my questions are more specific. I am curious about the backgrounds / flying hours for dudes who track select to the T-38. Specifically, do most T-38 guys have high hours (300+ or 1000+) and advanced ratings (instrument / commercial / aerobatic) before beginning UPT? I'm reading these old posts which state track select is based on 40% checkrides, 30% daily rides, 20% commander ranking, 10% test scores. So, I’m thinking if someone aces the academics and has a great commander ranking it's not enough, 70% is pure situational awareness and ability to handle the Tweet / Texan. When I read just “bust you’re a**” and make sure your #1 in…

Anyone ever done a Report of Survey? I got tagged by my squadron to be the investigating officer for some stolen/missing equipment. Have not found anybody in the squadron who has done one that has time to answer a few questions. It's an interesting additional duty but going through regs is a pain. Grandpa [ 08. https://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123028524 Air Force leaders to discuss new 'Cyber Command' by Staff Sgt. C. Todd Lopez Air Force Print News 10/5/2006 - WASHINGTON (AFPN) -- Air Force leaders are gathering in early November to discuss plans for creation of a new command, one chartered with flying and fighting in cyber space. Cyberspace became an official Air Force domain, like air and space, on Dec. 7, 2005, when Secretary of the Air Force Michael W. Wynne and Chief of Staff of the Air Force Gen. T. Michael Moseley introduced a new mission statement. In a letter to Airmen, they said the new mission was to "deliver sovereign options for the defense…

https://www.herald-review.com/articles/2006...ews/1018165.txt DECATUR - Mike Copsy thought an airplane was flying awfully low about midday Monday. Play Video The motorist, who lives in rural Charleston, looked to see if the plane landed safely at Decatur Airport, and he saw smoke. Firetrucks soon arrived three-tenths of a mile from the end of the runway to knock down a blaze. "The engines (of the plane) were still going when they were hosing it down," he said. Two crew members walked away from a crash of a small military trainer jet, said airport director Gene Marcinkowski. One person suffered a broken ankle, and the other was uninjured, Marcinkowski…

There's a lot of misinformation out there about what is covered by GO 1/1A. GO1A was the change to GO1 that Gen Tommy Franks signed just before the start of OIF, IIRC. However, comments like this one ,She's busy helping her C-130 crew member boyfriend break General Order One, while meant to be funny also show that there is a common misunderstanding of GO 1A. I was in a seminar this past year that showed that there are many people that believe that GO 1/1A covers sexual activity, like the above comment does, but it actually doesn't. Local policy may cover it. So what are the myths and the facts about the GO that are out there? I think it would be interesting to see …

[Attempting to give a "second chance" to what's, IMHO, a great topic of conversation that's quite interesting. Would just wish people can keep things civil and make good, valid points. Mods, if you don't like this, that's cool, but I ask that it be given another chance to work; and if it doesn't, then oh well....we ruined it ourselves] I'd like to address the issue of how we're prosecuting our current war from two personal viewpoints: 1. As a member of the US military, and 2. As a US taxpayer; since reading the last closed thread, IMO, some people were getting this distinction blurred. As a member of the military, there may be ROE I don't personally agree with, …

Hey what do you guys think about a FAA sport pilot rating? Is it a gay rating that you would be extremely limited in use? I've got about 35 hours in a C-152 as I was working towards my private, and don't know if I would be able to get a private rating due to some circumstances. However, the transition to sport pilot seems very easily doable. Does anyone here have a sport rating and use it or is it pointless and a private rating is the only thing to be concerned with? I know that this is not mil related but some love on this would be appreciated.

I didn't even know it had closed! I've spent many a lunch hour catching some ZZZs in the adirondack chairs in that courtyard. The story/legend of this place is a good read for the noobs out there. No word yet on whether the new place will serve punch, ice cream, and/or cake...but for $1.2M it ought to!

Hello, I did not apply as a pilot or a navigator but got selected this past board as a Civil Engineer (32E). I got a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering and really wanted to become a Developmental Engineer (62E). Is there anyway that I could change my job title? I did put Civil Engineering as one of my options but did so because their was nothing really related to Electrical Engineering. I am in the process of getting my security check and have not swore in. If I do plan to become a Civil Engineer, does anybody know what they exactly do? Do they work in the office and talk to contractors or do they actually go out in the field and lead a group of laborers…

Does anyone know the Air Force, well military, definition and difference between a mishap and an accident? We found out about the types of mishaps but that is about it. It's for a class here and our Captain is telling us he doesn't know of one but the teacher is riding our ass about it. Any help would be appreciated. [ 20. Help - I need confirmation of a rumor I just heard. I heard (indirectly from the current Fall class at ACSC) that the ACSC syllabus is changing soon. The course will be more involved and include writing of papers, etc. (and take more time) -- BUT, if you take it by correspondence (in the future), you WILL GET CREDIT FOR YOUR MASTERS too! Anyone have any details and/or facts to add to this? I just came back TDY and you can be sure I will be calling down to Maxwell to find out more...
