Hello, I plan to go into a 4 year university, enlist in the ANG, and major in aerospace engineering. When I graduate college, I plan to score high on the AFOQT and apply to fighter units. I have a few questions regarding this path. I really want to become an F35A pilot preferably with the Vermont ANG. My first is" Will a high AFOQT score make up for a low GPA in college?" I am worried that since I am majoring in a tough major, I will have a low gpa, therefore making my fighter wing application look less competitive. I read in the latest Air Force Assoc. magazine that when the B-2 program gets a makeover next year (avionics, new skins, etc.)it quite possibly will include an addition of a 3rd pilot. They say the B-2 has plenty of room for a third crewman and that it would be beneficial to have a 3rd pilot on long combat missions. My question is do adjustments like this call for more pilot's to be trained and go straight to the B-2 program from UPT (if qualified)? Or is the B-2 program overloaded with pilots? Just curious.

I'm looking to see if anyone has heard or has any information on the Air Force possibly moving the 457th AS (C-21s @ Andrews AFB) back to Scott AFB. I had heard something about FY'19 but can't really confirm it beyond rumor status. Thanks in advance!

Did a search but it didn't turn up anything specific for this... I'm in the NCR on a non-flying assignment (school). I got an email from the servicing HARM office at Andrews saying my physical would soon expire and that I would begin losing flight pay. The email was sent on the day my physical expired, which of course didn't leave me any time to get a new physical. I made the earliest possible appointment at my servicing flight med clinic (JBAB), which is in late Feb. Andrews HARM told me I will lose flight pay for the duration of time I am "disqualified" (about 3 weeks). They said there is no waiver process or really anything that can be done to avoid losin…

I was supposed to start Pensacola (water survival)on Monday 4 Oct. Found out last week that it was canceled and found out today it won't reopen till Dec. I'm working on a waiver to continue flying with my unit. Is this stopping anyone else from flying and if so how are you going to get around it? [ 30. Not a very exciting thread I'm sure! What do folks get their family members when they retire? Everyone does flowers at the ceremony and I'm guessing it is like a funeral at the house with many sets of flowers for all the woman-folk... I know it is not typically a time to celebrate them, but I'd like to make this as much of a day for at least my immediate family as I feel they have put up with a lot of sacrifices along the way. Thoughts? Obviously jewelry, but is there something that is a bit unique? Anything besides jewelry? Kids are nearing or in teenage years. Thanks!

So my roomate and I were just flipping through the tv stations when we came across "The Price is Right"...so we kept watching and low and behold...a kid gets picked up to be able to bid (one of the contestants). Now this wouldnt be so bad..but this kid was in his full rotc uniform with cadet wings. WTF. I have seen marines on there and that is fine with me because they have probably just returned from combat..what has this rotc kid done so far? Fend off the Taliban on campus? hah. So the academy has 3-screen static T-6 sims. Having read the 11-248, I've been trying the contact stuff (oval pattern, slow flight, stall, little bit of aerobatics, etc) in the sim. Any recommendations on what to practice in the sims since it is so limited (ie: you have to estimate where the perch is since you can't see the runway at a 45)? Any bad habits to watch out for or good ones to develop? Thanks!

I looked around and couldn't find an answer to my question. Before leaving home station for a 365 I had about 3.5 months of back-to-back TDY's. Because it was cost effective to the AF I used my POV. My last day of training was only a few days before I had to catch the rotator so I had to deploy from my last TDY location and leave my POV in storage. Now I'm being told that in order to pick up my POV, I have to either fly back direct to my last TDY location and use chargable leave and forgo my 14 days of downtime that you get when you return, or fly back to home station and find my own way to get to my last TDY location (on my owen dime), once again using chargeable leave. …

I separated active duty (12 yrs), went guard in 2014, and may retire at the end of the yr. I did not initially file for disability because I thought it would hurt my chances getting picked up with a unit or transferring units if I had a rating (WRONG). So I am filing right now. Went in for my initial appointment and he said since it has been over a year from active duty I am required to provide NEXUS statements for everything in my active duty medical records. I thought those were black and white? Has anyone filed after the year point of separating from active duty and had to do that? Any issues you ran into or key wording I should ensure the doc puts in there? …

Long shot, but I know there are experts here who might be able to help. BLUF: Long-time A-10 leader passed away this week, and is being interred at DFW National Cemetery next week. We're looking to see if we can get a 4 Ship flyover but have no idea where to start with the airspace. That cemetery is 10nm SE of the eastern runway at DFW, so airspace should be simple. Right?
