Good Day, A few of my co workers had a visual passage of two F-22's and a Tanker near Edmonton Alberta (YEG). I'm curious if this is a common practice when transiting foreign airspace instead of a fuel stop due to the sensitivity of the aircraft? Will this experience likely happen again over Alberta with traffic moving to Elmendorf? I would love to have seen it. Thanks Barry

First time post, I searched and didn't see any other threads that were even close to this but if there were and I missed it, I apologize I'm looking for the study, or any information on the background on why we(AF)/the FAA have currency/ recency requirements. I know what the numbers are, and know good and well why we have minimum takeoffs/landings etc. I'm looking for the document that says pilots abilities decrease by x with x amount of time out of the cockpit or something to that effect. thx much

F-35C carrier-variant test aircraft CF-3 has made its first catapult launch today (July 27) using the land-based steam catapult at NAS Lakehurst, where the U.S. Navy's version of the JSF is undergoing carrier suitability testing. 5. Did a search but it didn't turn up anything specific for this... I'm in the NCR on a non-flying assignment (school). I got an email from the servicing HARM office at Andrews saying my physical would soon expire and that I would begin losing flight pay. The email was sent on the day my physical expired, which of course didn't leave me any time to get a new physical. I made the earliest possible appointment at my servicing flight med clinic (JBAB), which is in late Feb. Andrews HARM told me I will lose flight pay for the duration of time I am "disqualified" (about 3 weeks). They said there is no waiver process or really anything that can be done to avoid losin…

I separated active duty (12 yrs), went guard in 2014, and may retire at the end of the yr. I did not initially file for disability because I thought it would hurt my chances getting picked up with a unit or transferring units if I had a rating (WRONG). So I am filing right now. Went in for my initial appointment and he said since it has been over a year from active duty I am required to provide NEXUS statements for everything in my active duty medical records. I thought those were black and white? Has anyone filed after the year point of separating from active duty and had to do that? Any issues you ran into or key wording I should ensure the doc puts in there? …

Gents -- BRIGHT STAR (an exercise in Egypt) is coming this fall. For those that have been, how was it? what should folks expect for flying, living, off-duty, etc.? For those that are coming, what have you heard? I'm not directly involved (yet), but if you're coming out call me at 010-102-1429 (inside Egypt). I'll open the Air Force bar in Cairo for you!

Hi there. I own a few small businesses, one of which is growing well enough to expand to a multi-location operation (a big step for us). I'm wondering if there are any other Guardsmen/Reservists here who own their own business who have either a) balanced their service obligation with running their business or b) specifically have gone through UPT while owning their business (and possibly running from afar). The expectation that was made when I was hired into my guard unit was that I will basically need to disappear off the face of the planet for 2-3 years during UPT and we're thinking about maybe hiring a general manager to run the place while I'm gone or selling out…

Greetings, I'll start with a disclaimer: I feel absolutely blessed to have the opportunity to fly with the Air Force, every unit is different, and I want to fly as much as possible with my unit for the next few years. Question for the Reserve guys who have been around and have some experience with TDARTs vs ARTs vs TRs. I'm coming up on PIQ and will then go on to fly Hercs, and not sure if I should sign up for the TDART program or not. I really like the flexibility of orders (and money) as well as the retirement points. Am I wrong in assuming that TDARTs get limited retirement points similar to ARTs? I will also have my ATP coming out of PIQ so I could potenti…

Have you ever thought of a situation where an attack helo faces a high performance jet fighter? Today I was discussing this with another armt dawg, which we made up a scenario where a single Longbow was confronted by a Viper... I defended the idea that I would be more maneuvrable and can hide, however I would not have any weapons to hit the jet unless I am really lucky... What do you think?

I've been thinking about putting a flag pole in my front lawn, and with the passing of President Ford, I've noticed that during my drive to work, some of the local stores still have the flag at half staff, and some are full staff, which got me wondering about the actual rules about flying the flag at half staff. I include the attached link for everyone's flag education. Cap-10

  19. My daughter just started on AD, 2Lt, USAF. My retirement option was far simpler. All I really know now is there is a thing called TSP which can be a traditional 401k type vehicle or a Roth 401k. Anyone have some basic gouge I can pass along on how to get started and what might be the best option at her stage? She already has a personal Roth IRA that she has regularly contributed to since she was in high school. Thanks.

Todd Lopez Air Force Print News 10/5/2006 - WASHINGTON (AFPN) -- Air Force leaders are gathering in early November to discuss plans for creation of a new command, one chartered with flying and fighting in cyber space. Cyberspace became an official Air Force domain, like air and space, on Dec. 7, 2005, when Secretary of the Air Force Michael W. Wynne and Chief of Staff of the Air Force Gen. T. Michael Moseley introduced a new mission statement. In a letter to Airmen, they said the new mission was to "deliver sovereign options for the defense…
