Hello, this is my first post in this board. My name is Pat and I am currently enrolled in AFROTC after coming off 4 years of Active Duty as a C-130 Loadmaster. I have a question about wearing a leather flight jacket with blues. (assuming I get a new nametag and an AETC patch.) I couldn't find any reference to this topic in the AFROTCI 36-2008. Another question is, is it authorized for me to wear my enlisted aircrew wings with my blues. Thanks for any help you give, this board and website is awesome. Best Wishes, -Pat

I know a lot of it is probably classified, but I do not know a whole lot about SERE other than what I've seen portrayed in Hollywood. Is it really as much of a haze as I've heard that it is? Is there a high attrition rate? Just generally trying to get some information and ask for other resources that any of you may have. Thanks a lot!

Is there a way to look up who is currently a 4 star general in the air force? I was waiting for my family at lunch yesterday when a 4 star walked by me. I didn't have a chance to talk to him and was looking for info on him. Thanks

Just to keep everyone abreast on these topics, the following story and pics on the Eurofighter/Typhoon in the US are making the rounds in the UK mil aviation forums I frequent. By the way, I just noticed the title of that article and the article itself conflict, but I think the title was in error, it should have read 'Eurofighter Radars Spot F/A-22s'... The answers are obvious, but the discussion is quite interesting! Just some food for thought here... Cheers! M2 [ 04. October 2005, 09:19: Message edited by: MajorMadMax ]

Forgive me if you've seen these already. I'm sure a few of us around here haven't... "Whoever said the pen is mightier than the sword obviously never encountered automatic weapons." - General MacArthur "You, you, and you ... Panic. The rest of you, come with me." - U.S. Marine Corp Gunnery Sgt. "Though I Fly Through the Valley of Death ... I Shall Fear No Evil. For I am at 80,000 Feet and Climbing." - At the entrance to the old SR-71 operating base Kadena, Japan "You've never been lost until you've been lost at Mach 3." - Paul F. Now, browse these with caution. Not work/wife/mother friendly at all, but still cool. I love chicks with guns. Hot military chicks

I'm trying to find someone with experience as a shooter and rated aircrew. I am reaching a major crossroads and am looking for all the advice I can get. Here's what I'd like to know from anyone willing to offer: Whether you went from SOF to pilot/nav or vice versa (rare, I know), are you happy with the choice you made and would you make the same decision again? Also, from your experience would you recommend one more than the other? Thank you in advance for your responses. So everyone has some idea who they're responding to...I'm 25 and grew up in a family of shooters (PJ, SEAL). I know, although only second-hand, the pluses and minuses of life in the SOF world. B…

https://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?storyID=123011984 This is the first chain of command of this position since I've commissioned. Anyone care to discuss if they ever saw any significant changes after the position changed from one person to another in the past? I know that he is the President's top military advisor, and commands no troops, but I was wondering if things could change a whole lot, and if so, how quickly they could take effect. Just some food for thought (Better than flaming each other and listening to the trolls from the "other" side b*tch & moan about their forum closing) [ 01. I am an enlisted Marine Corps C-130 Nav. I have a couple (not excessive) tattoos. One is prominent on my forearm. I am a couple of months shy of my B.S. and working on my private pilots license. Would this prohibit me from becoming an Officer or of getting a pilot slot in the ANG, AFRES, or as an Army reserve WO? Any thoughts on which would be the best route to take? Appreciate any help. *BTW wutz up Riddler

Anybody know of another way to check NOTAMS besides DINS (notams.jcs.mil)? I've got my T-1 Nav check tomorrow and DINS has been down since yesterday. Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know what the latest change to the T-34 NATOPS manual is? I'm headed to VT-3 in a week (from API) and want to know if I need to add/delete/change anything on my flashcards. I have all changes up to Change 39 (Change 39!!! I guess they've never heard of a T.O. revision in the Navy). Also, anyone at VT-3 know how long the wait is after ground school? Our API class has been hearing a ton of rumors (varying from 4 up to 10 week wait rumors), but nothing 100% confirmed. Thanks for the help. [ 24. September 2005, 11:10: Message edited by: gabe2surf ]

Just wondering if anyone's ever run into rude enlisted personnel...I'm a new LT doing casual with a fighter squadron. I'm doing scheduling and many other misc duties like making sure things are setup for fini flights and retirements. So here's my story: I was trying to sort everything for this guy's fini flight in the Viper who is retiring. His family was waiting for him to land. I asked the TSgt at the ops desk to call and get them permission to go on the flight line with cameras. He says, "How many." I said 4 cameras. The, with glaring eyes, he says "How many people." So I told him 12. He'd given me a sticky note to write down the escort for them and how man…

I met someone on the net and during a conversation about his eyesight problems, he told me this: This is supposedly back in 1996. Any truth to this?

...well anyway, that's where I predict Rita will go. Anyone have a different forecast? I think it is now category 5.

The subject has been touched on in the past, but I'd like to open a thread to highlight all that is lame with current Ops at the 'Deid. When the shooting war was starting, everybody was too preoccupied with the no-$hit mission to worry about queep. Then the jets started coming back with bombs and the shoe clerk mentality started to grow. Here's my first story - Over in 'Ops Town' we had a bathroom that was just a short walk from our Ops Tent. By the time we got there, there was a good deal of penned-in graffiti on the walls of the $hitters. Standard $hitter immature crap. Well somebody got fairly pissed about it, sent in some dudes to paint over the walls an…

I'd like to take my motorcycle with me to UPT. That, or even buy a new one down there. However, will I have anyway to get her under roof? I also don't want a new motorcycle just to see it get trashed by the elements. Suggestions on the matter? Do I leave my bike at home?

Okay. I've hit this problem from just about every angle I can think of but have yet to come up with a solution. I leave for Randolph (UNT) very soon. Because of my son's heart condition, he needs to stay near his surgeons back home. On top of that, my wife has a great job and my daughter is in a school program that you have to be accepted to and will have to re-apply if she leaves (lottery). Needless to say, they have to stay home. Here's the dilemma: Base pay - taxes + BAH (waived for dependent location) + BAS = Civilian Pay (almost to the penny). Since I have to accept BAH to maintain my household back home, I cannot live on base. To live off base will …

I just got a speeding ticket on base - not paying attention and doing 32 in a 25 zone. I told my flight commander yesterday and he didn't seem too pissed, but is this something that could affect my flight commander ranking when it comes time for assignments?

Could someone please write something interesting on this topic? Anything. I'd really like to learn something. Just please don't write anything about flightsuits, hats, or ROTC, and try not to turn it into a pissing match. Or you could also write about how important the FE is...(just beginning to realize that myself) Not a Herk guy? Feel free to write something cool about your airframe. Thanks!
