We've had the "highest" - HuggyU2 We've had the "fastest" - EvilEagle and JimNTexas tied at 1.7M So who's got the most hours??? I'm thinking with 5000+ hours, HuggyU2 is going to win another one..... https://www.8af.acc.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123026838

How long is the flight training for the HH-60? I am considering a move from the Army to the USAF Air Guard and will require an HH-60 transition. I am qualified and current in the UH-60 and will require just the flight training (Not UPT!). Also, I am SERE-C qualified and will not have to re-attend any SERE training. Fortunately!! Trying to workout the time line. Thanks in advance.

I was watching the movie "The right stuff" in the breakroom. Never realized it was from 1983. trailer: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086197/traile...lay-vi770900249 I want to rent and watch the whole thing. Idk. seemed like a really good movie from the parts I seen.. figured there were others who live under a rock like me and never seen it. Anyway.. How many people on this board, whether pilot, civilian, or just an officer of some sort, are interested in one day trying for NASA(astronaut)... Or pilots... How many are looking to apply for a test pilot slot? What is it that you guys do to stay competitive? Just wondering...

I'm heading up to Thule AB for a TDY for a week and a half. Checked the TDY gouge and it was empty. Everything I've heard about the place is all hearsay, but not much of it sounds good, which sucks because I'm actually excited to go. Anyone ever been up there and have some info on it? I'll be sure to update the gouge when I get back too.

How are you guys dealing with wearing AERPS? I freaking dread it more than anything. As i am sure evereyone else does. I am kind of being a whiner here, but do you guys have any tricks/advice or ANYTHING for dealing with it? I already heard suck it up and deal with it, but was wondering if there is anything more concrete out there. I know the whole point of wearing in peace time is to know your limitations with it (loss of dexterity, heat exhaustion, limited comms, and of course pannicking/claustorphobia) and it is something you gotta do. I seem to be fortunate enough to experience all of the above. Anything? Also, is this system for all aircrew and platforms or…

I'm giving this some serious thought...feeling I may be vulnerable for a 365 soon anyway, so I want to pick something I might actually enjoy doing...something new and different, something challenging and rewarding. And some may call me crazy, but Iraqi UPT in Cessna 172s and Caravans...now THAT's something different and may be a good change of pace for me. I've seen a couple mentions from hueypilot182 about doing the Herk training for the Iraqis, and that's a possibility too since I'm a Herk guy. Anyone with first or maybe second-hand knowledge of these gigs, please let me know

  12. I'm looking to see if anyone has heard or has any information on the Air Force possibly moving the 457th AS (C-21s @ Andrews AFB) back to Scott AFB. I had heard something about FY'19 but can't really confirm it beyond rumor status. Thanks in advance!

So my unit is taking a jet to the Travis airshow and figured this would be a good opportunity to try and help out our morale fund/booster club and sell some swag. Anyone have any advice on what actually sells? Zaps, patches, tshirts, water bottles, etc? Any big differences between civilian airshows and ones on military bases? Thanks.

I believe the AF SUPT max age without a waiver is still 30. As of last month the Navy increased their age for pilots and NFOs training to the age of 32. For those AF SUPT applicants that were turned down for age consideration, the Navy may be an option. No word on USMC age changes. Remember in going Naval Air, approximately 50% are assigned helos as an initial assignment. But they do have P-8 (737s) waiting in the wings for all you future airline pilot hopefuls.

  19. Several years ago I stored my POV when I went to Japan, then did a COT to USAFE. I had a POV in storage on my original orders and was briefed by TMO that I could just keep my car in storage if I wanted to. I did so, spent a few years in USAFE and got back to CONUS and picked up my car this past summer. Last month I got an email from an accountant at TRANSCOM giving me a week or so to give my authorization for storing my car. I sent in both sets of orders. TRANSCOM comes back saying that my Japan storage is okay but I will be billed $7k for keeping my car in storage for my USAFE tour. This is the first I've heard that it may not have been authorized. I sent my follo…

  20. I’d like to know more about it. I’m a C-17 pilot, and I just learned about CRWs. Sounds like a cool gig, even though it takes you out of the jet for a tour. Anyone have experience in a CRW and able to give a rundown on what I’d be doing day to day, ops tempo, is it worth it, etc?

Going to be leaving AETC and going to the real operational Air Force this year, and was wondering how difficult it is to take leave with constant missions. Especially in AMC where crews seem to be gone more than they're home. How difficult is it to grab a couple days of leave? A whole week? Does it routinely get canceled last minute for a mission? What if it's something I can forecast months in advance, does that help? Are any bases/MAJCOMs/airframes notoriously good or bad for this? Things like a wedding/honeymoon are on the horizon for me, and just looking for general info. Thanks in advance.
