I can’t believe I have to post this, but let this serve as a reminder, do not even think about posting anything close to the line on this site. 1. Declaring your operational background, then using sites like FAS.ORG as a reference for classification is outright dumb and won’t be tolerated. 2. Sending me (someone you don’t know, who could be sitting in Beijing or Pyongyang for all you know), a PM declaring that you fly XXX and that you have a Top Secret Clearance is perhaps the most egregious lack of SA I have ever seen. YGBFSM!!! Bottomline, this is great site and none of us is perfect, but when it comes to no-shit OPSEC, don’t even think about posting on thi…

  3. Just kinda wondering, if they ever get the J off the ground, and regular joe-schmo slick guys switch to the J, what would the service commitment be? Would there be one since it would be going from C-130 to C-130? Any guesses out there? Just asking

Is it possible to log Actual Time while VFR? For Example, you are flying along and it is 3000-3, you can see the ground/water below you, but you have no horizon, just clouds to the ground. Can you log Actual Instrument time?

From af.mil 3/10/2006 - U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AFPN) -- "Recognition" is being reinstated here after a three-year hiatus. Recognition 2006 events start after classes March 16 and conclude with a celebratory dinner March 18. Recognition marks the transition of the fourth classmen to upper class status. It is the ceremonial acknowledgement that the fourth class as a whole has successfully met the military training requirements expected of it and is prepared to continue its four-year journey through the rigors of academy life. In 2003, the decision was made to end Recognition as part of an overall culture and climate change at the academy. By professionall…

Hi all. It has been a while since my last post of photographs and following a chat with Chris last night he was happy for me to share a few more images taken this year. 19 Squadron at RAF Valley, UK, were the first squadron to be equipped with the Spitfire for the Battle of Britain in 1938 and this year was the 70th aniversary of that historic event. After several months of negotiations with sponsors the squadron and I managed to get this Hawk painted in the original paint scheme of the Spitfire. I was fortunate to fly in formation with the Hawk and the Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight from RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire a…

From af.mil: EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. (AFPN) -- A distinguished career came to a close here Feb. 10. After flying senior military leaders and undergoing rigorous testing for more than 31 years, the Speckled Trout tail number 61-2669 officially retired. "Speckled Trout was the primary transport aircraft for every Air Force chief of staff since General David C. Jones (July 1974 to June 1978)," said Gen. Bruce Carlson, Air Force Materiel Command commander. "Not only has it transported distinguished people ... there are countless examples of technological advantages that our warfighters have reaped as benefits from the work that has been done on this great airpl…

I read a report recently in which an officer wrote that he graduated ENJJPT in the early 1990s and was designated a 'banked pilot'. He then did seven months of school cross-training to Intel. I don't know if he returned to the cockpit. Can anyone say whether such a categorisation was either common or permanent? Seems odd to spend so much money training someone who then ends up doing a completely different job.

Hi folks - So, this might sound a bit strange, but my recruiter *really* wants me to apply into the Bioenvironmental Engineering (BEE) program in the AF in addition to OTS (for pilot). I have a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and he said my background doesn't matter - bioenvironmental vs electrical. I've search here and on Google, but can't seem to find anything on the BEE program except that you get commissioned as a Captain and have 4 weeks of initial training instead of 12 in the OTS. The big question that I cannot find the answer to is - if I sign up for BEE, will I then be able to apply for UPT once I'm already in the AF? Or said another way…

This was on the front page of our wonderful Nashville newspaper today.I cant' believe these yahoos actually think the government is spraying chemicals from aircraft for experiments. I thought some of you might find it interesting as well as humorous. Wednesday, 11/29/06 Jet trails just water vapor, not sprayed chemicals, experts say By ANNE PAINE Staff Writer Blue skies have been turning white this month as airplane traffic crisscrosses the sky. The trails that jets leave behind grow, creating thin, cirrus-style clouds that aviation officials say result from water vapor from engine exhausts and in the air turning to ice crystals. At least…

https://www.cnn.com/2007/US/10/12/us.turkey/index.html The Turks are about to cross into Iraq to fight the Kurds, who have been fighting them. We oppose Turkey's doing so. In the midst of this really serious potential conflict, given that things in Northern Iraq have been going pretty well, the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs passed a not-so-serious (or helpful) measure labeling the killings of Armenians by Ottoman Turkish forces during WWI "genocide" by 27-21 vote. The Turks oppose us doing so and have pulled their ambassador, and are thinking about kicking us out of Turkey (where most of our supplies and vehicles come into Iraq by), and are also considering p…

Word on the street is there are TWO new varieties of PT shorts out there. The first kind is the marathon shorts which are shorter and lighter, and those are confirmed to exist. The other kind I've heard about (but have yet to see in person) are supposedly a longer pair with POCKETS. Does such a new PTU short exist, and if so, is it worth me dropping some coin on it before I head back the the Deid in another month?
